People always make fun of France for losing so quickly, but why don't more people talk about how quickly Germany lost France?
>>3363765
We do, after the breakout.
But Overlord was slow in the initial phase. Progress through the Bocage was slow, and objectives like Caen were supposed to be captured on D-day+1, but ended up taking until D-Day+60.
Once Operation Cobra started the breakthrough, the Germans collapsed pretty much instantly.
>>3363765
Because the French performed vastly more poorly than they should have during Fall Gelb, and because the Germans could put up quite an effective resistance, considering the circumstances in the later half of '44.
besides, the only people who make fun of the French for being cowards are people who have no real knowledge about ww2 or warfare in general.
>>3363765
Germany took longer to lose France than France did. Not to mention France had only one front to fight on, and only one enemy on that front, while they had three allies.
France had every advantage in that war, and still they managed to fuck it up completely thanks to government ineptitude.

Why do the Western Samurai (Shimazu, Mori, Otomo Sorin, etc) appear way less in media than the other ones (such as Uesugi, Takeda, Date and even most Oda retainers)?
The Shimazu brothers were very capable and won many times while highly outnumbered. Mori Motonari was an amazing strategist. But they hardly ever appear in media, except on Nobunaga's Ambition games.
>>3363037
What media are you even talking about
>>3363050
Japanese one. Series, films, manga, anime.
Even on Koei stuff. On Warriors Orochi 3, you had the Tachibana couple and Shimazu Yoshihiro.
Mori Motonari, Yoshihisa, Iehisa, etc don't appear.

Any sengoku period animu and manga I've ever read or watched has had plenty of the "less popular" figures
How did the Germans go from being an irrelevant weakling nation that got regularly humiliated by French, Poles, Swedes and Russians from the 1200s to the mid 1800s, to being the most feared European nation between 1866 and 1945?

Doing a comparative psychology analysis of the collapse of the Aztec empire, what do you think?
According to Aztec tradition, the founders of its great empire, after years of wandering, settled in south-central Mexico around the year 1168. Thus began a reign of blood and terror the likes of which had never before been visited upon this peaceful land. In 1325, the Aztec capital city of Tenochitlan, meaning "Place of the Prickly Pear Cactus" arose from the swamps of Lake Texcoco. Priding themselves on their martial skill, the Aztecs believed their strength was derived from the ritual feeding of their god Huitzilopochtli, god of not only the sun but of war and warriors as well. The Aztecs raised human sacrifice to a high art, but their fascination with death produced a grim society convinced of its eventual and inescapable doom. When the Spanish appeared in the 1500s, many took their arrival as a sign that the day of judgment was at hand. Although its warriors were fierce and nearly unstoppable in combat, because of its fatalistic outlook, Aztec society resigned itself to the notion that the Spaniards were destined to deliver it to its fate - and they did. Within a few short years, the Aztec empire lay in ruins.
Reminder that Tlaxclalans did more damage to Aztecs than Spaniards could ever hope for. Except artillery and horses their contribution was minimal. Cortez only managed to enter Tenochtitlan in the first place becaue Montezuma was a stupid idiot who unironically believed Cortez was an embodiment of Quetzalcoatl. Spaniards got BTFO during Noche Triste when rest of the Aztecs realized Montezuma is retarded and that Spaniards aren't some ancient aliens making a return.
Second conquest of Tenochtitlan was made possible only because of Tlaxcalan allies. They did most of the fighting and killing.

You always hear feminazis bitch how men oppressed them and stuff, but you never hear them explain how in a world where dozens of different societies developed independently with their own cultures, traditions, religions, etc, yet in almost all of them it were the males that were rulers, it were males who were scientists. doctors, generals, soldiers, etc.
Please explain thanks.

This man is a fraud. If it wasn't for the fact the railways were full of troops being sent to II Army's left flank, he wouldn't have had the idea to send the two army corps South West, and Tannenburg would have been lost.
PRITTWITZ WAS FUCKING BETTER THAN HINDENBURG. HE WAS JUST UNLUCKY.
What would've happened if the Russians had won Tannenburg?
>>3361941
German VIII army would have been forced to retreat to the Vistula, and Hindenburg could well have gone the way of /BasedPritwittz/.
>>3361941
Oh, and by the way, the only reason he didn't lose was because of Russian incompetence.
>He unironically thinks a cavalry division and a few army corps holed up in fortresses is good enough insurance against Rennenkampf's nine and a half divisions.

Why didnt any american country (not counting Liberia) tried colonizing africa?
And if they tried and I am not awere of that, why they didnt succed.
Chile colonized Easter Island though.
Probably because of all the water between them.
