Can you guys give me a good biography for each leader of the Soviet Union? maybe a chart?
they were all commies
Lenin - Revolutionary leader, spent most of his life in civil war
Stalin - asshole of the party sacrificed millions of russians for rapid industrialization
Khrushchev - Tried to reverse Stalin's assholishness but pressures from the west and the state of his country put a stop to that
Brezhnev - Synthesis probably the main guy you should judge what the USSR was about than Stalin
-bunch of irrelevant twats-
Gorbachev - wanted to modernize his economy, ended up destroying the union
Yeltsin - decides to go "fuck it" and puts it out to the shed
Why did the Greeks allow themselves to get beat up by some Jewish peasants?
Did they fear the Hebrew warrior?
>>3000002
Yes, they did. That's also why they started worshiping the king of the Jews a few centuries later.

The Maccabean war was a conflict between pro-Hellenic Jewish nobility and conservative Jewish nobility
I've been reading Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. It's very inspiring. His philosophy is very appealing to me. However, I'm a Christian. Can someone accept a good portion of Nietzsche's philosophy and still be Christian?
Can one be virtuous for the sake of virtue and still believe in God? Can someone be loving and merciful and still aspire to be the superman?
Nietzsche's emphasis on heroic self-overcoming is obviously absent in the gospels. Nietzsche prized the classical ideal of inner strength and greatness of soul, souls so great they overcome even their own moral injunctions against evil
Nietzsche celebrates becoming, while Christ is the path to transcending it. But honestly? Christ is the Self, the "unknown lord" Zarathustra talks about early in the work, and Nietzsche himself admired Christ, just not his followers.
As Evola says, Nietzsche is about "living more", and Christ is about what is "more than life"
Just different paths, different "flavors"of essentially one thing: the human being going beyond himself, and really isn't Christ being able to endure the sufferings that he did, the injustice of his fate, the supreme example of amor fati?
>>2999977
No.
Nietzsche's philosophy is built around the rejection of a paternal deity in favor of accepting responsibility for one's own life and self-discovery.
If God exists than man is in a state of subservience to a higher force which his spiritual growth can solely be derived from. This blatantly undercuts the philosophy of the Ubermensch.
>>2999977
No, the superhuman is he who builds his own ideas rather than accepting the ones built already.

I don't know horse race betting very well but dad has claimed that the bill is much more common in association with this economic activity, as (at some appropriate period/place), apparently two dollars was the minimum bet which could be placed. I tried to corroboroate this with a brief search but was unable to do so.
I have five of the bills in my little treasure box with other uncommon (but no truly rare) currency.

How do we know the Roman Empire even existed? What if scholars from the late Middle Ages just made up a story to explain all the statues and architecture?
How do you know you're not a hologram.

Had been a Russian idea since Muscovy's designation as 'Third Rome' by the patriarch. Later reflected in the theoretical 'Greek Plan' which would consider the partition of the Turkish Empire between the Hapsburg and Russian empires
>Anatolia
Actually far easier now because of increased and better communication, also the Turkish people still did not have a distinct identity yet and mainly just saw themselves as Muslims, subjects of the sultan
>German Asian colonies
They have manchuaria so why not secure more things there, although Japan took most of these and Britain was fine with this
When did Trebizond come to possess stuff in the crimean, and for how long?
>>2999644
Crimean Tatars supplied raiders and vanguard archers to Turkish Turks for more than 500 years. before that time. Cumania was a natural ally of Seljuks.
With time they started trading in slaves. They sold slavic peoples from Ruthenia to Turks, Byzantines and beyond. Sclavus is he root of "slav" meaning literal "slave".
Trebizond was another state which used the slavic girls as boys as concubines. At that point they were influential in the region.

>Sclavus is he root of "slav" meaning literal "slave"
>>2999644
Greeks had colonized Crimea thousands of years before--->became roman vassal state----> became thema(province of Byzantine empire----> became part of Trebizond after the Byzantine empire was split between the empire of Nicaea, Constantinople, and Epirus.
What if Japan joined the Central Powers?
>>2999630
Russia would probably fall earlier and China might not support the Allied Powers. It would be a stupid move considering their navy was much weaker at this point and could easily be handled by British, French and American navies
They'd be stuck on the other side of the world and get rekt by the Royal Navy

North Africa was only separated culturally from Europe with the rise of Islam.
Yes or no? Pic unrelated of course

Islam killed Mediterranean trade. It also made the entire place a pirates den. The Vandals were at war with Rome during their periods of raiding. It was a "defensive" action and once peace was achieved the raiding stopped. They were also massive Romanboos in all aspects bar religion. This is why they so quickly submitted to Roman rule once again.
>Inb4 Venice tho!
They escaped the worst of it because they are in the Adriatic Sea which is easier to defend from pirates . Their ships were raided just as much as others were.
Reminder that trading with Muslims got so bad that Europeans sailed across the Atlantic to avoid them.
Can we have a serious discussion about these allegations that have been around forever but are now picking up again about Adolf's personal drug use and the level of the use of Oxycontin, methamphetamine, barbiturates, and cocaine in all levels of the German army and society at large during the Third Reich?
It's known that Hitler himself was presented to the public as a teetotaler who even abstained from meat and coffee and loathed tobacco. The Nazi party created successful social programs which aimed at discouraging smoking and alcoholism as well as poor fitness as all being degenerate, and they also pioneered animal rights legislation. But in this new book it is revealed that Hitler became ill in 1941 and was given by his doctor intravenous vitamins and Oxycontin (called Dolantin at the time) and by 1943 he was fully addicted and suffered withdrawls. it is also claimed that methamphetamine became a grocery item in Germany at this time and was part of daily Wehrmacht rations, so much that the British actually targeted the chemistry labs and factories that produced these drugs with ariel bombardment. I'm just wondering if anyone has any counter evidence to these points or has studied this theory itself.
Bumping the thread but I don't have any evidence against what is claimed in the book. It is interesting how the author claims that Pervitin (meth) played a big role in the Nazi invasion of France and by extension Blitzkrieg as a whole.
>nazi were meth addict degenerates then
> most neo-nazis are white trash meth addicts now
Its like pottery
>>2999936
I just think it's really interesting because i feel like people assume "drug culture" was invented in the 1960s but in many different cultures and periods of time societies have went hard into drugs, mostly just in spiritual, medicinal ways but also just plain partying and addiction

Seems pretty likely that it is, but not 100% conclusive. As far as objects of Catholic veneration, it has way more credence than most.
It seems very likely actually.
