Though I can't help but think the discrepancy in their fields of expertise will lead to a fundamental disconnect in any conversation.
Peterson isn't a philosopher and Zizek is not a psychologist. I think Zizek has a bigger and wider knowledge base overall.

Why is Evangelicalism looked down upon?
If someone honestly believes I'll suffer forever in hell if I don't repent and join their cult I really don't mind them trying to 'save' me. If they really believe eternal paradise awaits me if I do, I don't mind. They're wrong of course but I appreciate the the thought.

When Hitler realised the war was totally lost in 1945, surely he knew that the Soviets would be more ruthless towards Germany and the German people than the Western Allies?
Wouldn't it have been a better option for Germany to put up a weakened resistance to slow them and push all their forces east to keep out the Soviets for as long as possible to prevent them taking German land? Just because the Soviets would be significantly more brutal in their conquest. Maybe the rape of Berlin wouldn't have happened and Germany would be unified after the war.
One of the reasons Hirohito surrendered to America is because the USSR recently conquered Japanese Manchuria with over a million men. He and his generals thought a peace under American occupation would be less brutal than under the Soviets. Maybe they only believed this would be the case because of what happened to Germany.

OK /his/ bear with me, because I think I'm going insane. I've come to the conclusion that any process in the universe, even human thought, can be expressed mathematically. There are two corollaries:
>There are processes whose mathematical expression we do not understand right now (if there really is anything in the universe we would currently call "supernatural", I think it falls under this).
>There are processes whose mathematical expression we may simply be unable to understand at all, ever, due to the limits of human ability (though something more intelligent, like an advanced AI, may be able to understand).
If we can express relatively simple electrical signals and chemical interactions mathematically, and understand correlation between these and similar factors in the brain to human thought, doesn't it stand to reason that, were our mathematics advanced enough, we could accurately simulate and predict human thought?
Are we really just machines, analog computers? Is the brain really just some soft circuit and the human mind is software written in chemical interaction?
