Is it better to believe in a comforting lie or to know a painful truth? I've been thinking about this for a while, but I can't come to any conclusion. Pic obviously related.

In my experience, most "painful truths" are not particularly true at all, but rather are just rationalizations to wallow in self pity and/or feel superior.

Anyway, "painful" is subjective. What's better is to start by seeking truth, then adjusting your point of view in it if you find it painful.

If muslims believed that semen is produced in the backbone, why did they castrate black slaves by cutting their balls off?

there are multiple theories about this and these words in arabic can mean a lot more than just that
one theory is that al sulb( the hard) and al taraab (basically the soft) refer to the sexual organs of a man and a woman
another theory was "gushing fluid poured forth" refers to the aorta which according to a book cited by him(Jamal Badawi), Clinical Anatomy, supplies the testes and ovaries with the necessary nutrients and this is what the Quran refers to

>bought this book maybe 5 to 6 years ago, when I was much more of a pleb (only started reading books not handed out to me from 2009)
>thought it was boring as fuck
>thought it was so boring I stopped reading it and threw the book in the trash
>look at the contents of it now on Amazon, as a much wiser person
>realise that the book is a boring collection of mental masturbation by "intellectuals" that consists of puffed up, purple prosed ramblings or embarrassingly bad attempts to theorise about topics that could never be figured out a priori; or philosophising that consisted of vague or outright wrong assertions

My brain honestly fucking rejects this type of nonsense. To give the Greeks credit (and to try to get you guys to agree with me and not engage in mandatory anti-OP edginess), at least they only aspired to "stoners in the park" tier speculations. This book's verbose and pseudo-profound (and utterly commercialised, as much as people try to ignore it) style is SO fucking boring. SO uninsightful. Filled with SO many half assed false assertions. Works of this style have SO many pseudo intellectuals claiming their profundity and insight and genius.

What on earth caused Inperiam Japan and The Nazis to think bellum se ipsum alet ( the war feeds itself) would work in the industrial war age?
Hurdur our own projections show we need 200,500 gl of oil and 50,000 of iron every two years to substatian the navy and replace our loses if war breaks out. Let's expand our frontier, so we can afford to expand our frontier. Keep in mind rationing was already going on at home, and it was hard to get meat or even rice BEFORE the war expansion.
nazis: we need to seizes Russia resources
By 1941 Germans were already feeling hardships at home, which led to tighter and tighter bleeding of the occupied countries, this wasn't a inexsucusable resoruce.
Keep in mind in both cases thier own studies showed they didn't have the materials nerrascy to win the war.

Keep in mind in 1939-40 fiscal year Japan got over 90% of it's oil from the US before the embargo for occupying southern indochina .
Pic:charcoal burning car converted, common in Japan when oil was rationed to the military

Bellum se ipsum alet worked ok in early medieval times because the population was still recovering from The Fall so there were lots of animals around to kill in occupied areas and trees to cut for timber,

Today I will remind /his/.

I remember reading about his "little fishies" once, but to my knowledge, that seemed to only come from one source? (Suetonius, iirc, so not the most reputable of sources)
Can't really seem to find much info on this

Any good books on this? Basically Slavs went from not existing to dominating entire Eastern Europe.

I've read Florin Curta "The Making of Slavs", and it was good, but he's an archeolog, he shows what might be concluded from evidences, doesn't give out theor(ies)y.

Also, what are accepted theories on Slavic migrations?

No, it's the original anarchist's cookbook. Nobodies pretending to be somebody. I don't believe for a second the author's intent was piety. "Yahweh" as described by Moses and the Prophets in no way resembles nearly any pagan god.

1. THE LATTER; ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS HAVE YHWH/SATAN/JUPITER AS THEIR SUPREME DEITY; YHWH/SATAN/JUPITER IS A DEMON, NOT GOD.

2. ABRAHAMIC: JUDEOCHRISTIANITY, JUDAISM, ISLAMISM, BAHAI.

NOT ABRAHAMIC: CHRISTIANITY, MOHAMMEDANISM.

So, how prevalent were war elephants in the ranks of Hannibal's forces? Sources for the battle of Zama show that there were 80, but is this number accurate, or even feasible? More modern sources paint the War Elephants as drains on Hannibal's resources and moral, as he only crossed the alps with one, Surus, or Cyrus.

We don't know for sure, but a lot of modern historians agree they were probably not very useful. And probably weren't more than 30 or so. Less so when a bunch of them drowned crossing that one river.

Many other armies put elephants to good use, such as Maurya India, but I doubt elephants are well suited for European winters.

The founders of the USA, specifically the Federalists of Washington's and Adams' administration had ambitions for DC as becoming the new Rome, the center of the federally centralized USA, and to make it into the largest city in the western hemisphere. However when Jefferson came into power with the Jeffersonian revolution he not only halted all centralization efforts by the federal government, but also completely halted all development on the capital itself, calling it unnecessary federal expenditure and causing the government to be working out of literally half finished buildings for the next several years.

If the USA had stayed on the federalist course (heavily centralized east coast state with the interior of the continent politically subordinated) could DC have fulfilled their ambitions? With the federalists in power the Louisiana purchase becomes much more unlikely, and without the midwest territory and the canals into the great lakes built by the state governments New York City would be much less likely to take off as much as it did in development. Similarly without New Orleans which was the largest city in the US at the time of its acquisition the Mississippi river delta remains under the control of foreign powers, and even if the USA conquers its way inland in colonial wars it still is hampered by the bottleneck at the delta.

Really I am just fascinated in imagining how the society planned out by the early founders, especially Hamilton, might have taken shape.

Why did Europeans go crazy over cocoa from the New World when carob was already native and widely cultivated in the Mediterranean?

Chocolate is a bit tastier and has more kick, sure, but it shouldn't that impressive or worth the effort to get it from the tropics when you can grow carob in your garden.

The point is not to get it from the tropics, but to use the black man to grow it in the tropics. You can't use the slave in Europe.
