I personally think it's because

-the Western world is more well off than other cultures so people don't really need religion as much in their lives.

-Christianity has a lot of things that are corrupt in it and have been exposed, such as the actions of the Catholic church and people like Peter Popoff on the Protestant side of things., evangelicalism also gives a bad name to Christianity

-Christianity has a more idealistic version of God than other religions do.

Almost all of it, until the late 1970s/early 1980s when the Military-Technical Revolution took hold and NATO gained force multipliers like precision guided munitions.

Until that point the Soviet and Warsaw Pact ground forces in Europe were effectively overwhelming. SACEUR had no expectation of stopping them without tactical nuclear weapons (the joke goes that the definition of a 'tactical' nuclear weapon is "one which lands in Germany")

National Socialism is just communism branded in a way which appeals to the middle class by focusing on race instead of class. That is evident in the name "socialism". Big government is all the same, it attempts to subjugate the freedom of the individual by making the population slaves of the state. National Socialism killed millions, not as many as communism, yes, but if it had been allowed to spread it would have been as destructive as communism. It not only started the greatest conflict in history but also led to a mass genocide.

8foldpath(last of noble truth) summed up is be wise, behave ethically/morally, and concentrate.

You could call yourself a buddhist by simply believing in these key tenants (to the best of your knowledge/intention).

At it's core i think it's about being happy and being free from stuff that gets in the way of truly enjoying every moment of your life. I recommend reading anything by thich nhat hanh to get an idea about it and start practicing some simple things to make you happier.
