How can one man possess so much raw ability and promise
was his name aurelian cause he was made of gold?
>Rose from nothing (his father was probably a freedman or peasant) and joined the army as a common legionary
>Quickly rose through the ranks, became a member of Gallienus' elite cavalry, then became its commander
>Served under Claudius II and commanded his elite cavalry, winning great battle against the Alamanni and Goths
>Promoted to Magister Equitum, then saved Claudius' life and reputation in Moesia
>Claudius dies, Aurelian acclaimed emperor, defeats four separate usurpers, crushes Germanic invasion into Northern Italy, conquers Palmyra, brings Gaul and Britain back into the empire
>Reforms coinage, makes Sol Invictus head of the Roman pantheon
>Betrayed by the faggot Eros and killed
Genuinely had one of the best track records of any Roman leader ever

How did ancient people bought basic groceries?
I do remember salt and suggar being expensive back then.
how did ancient people made their basic groceries?
>>3357627
Before refrigeration, you really couldn't have "groceries." Everything had to be eaten fresh. I remember reading that in ancient rome, going out to eat at bars every night was pretty normal, because the average person simply didn't have their own kitchen and couldn't prepare their own food. Only rich people who had slaves/servants stayed home to eat. It's an inversion of how we tend to think about it today.

So, like going to mcdonalds every night?
how did they get their spices?

Is an aristocratic republic the best possible form of government?
>>3357546
Yes as long as the aristocracy is meritocratic
>>3357629
That's never going to happen.
>>3357546
On a small scale, yes, on a large scale, only a federal system is good.
Why do so many monadic or seminomadic groups have some sort of representative/republican institution in their governments? The Germanics had their things, the Hungarians had their tradition of extensive aristocratic participation in government, and even the mongols decided their leaders via election by a council of elders. Is the lifestyle conducive to election?
>>3357382
Institutional despotism requires sophistication.
>>3357382
I believe the confederacy vote thing was propagated by the Xiongnu confederacy. Once China fucked them, they fled westward and became the Huns. They probably carried over the confederacy/voting leadership thing.
The mongols inherited that from the Xianbei, who are the remnants of Xiongnu.
Before Xiongnu there wasn't a confederacy, atleast in recorded history. The whole Xiongu confederacy was created to fight the powerful Yeuzhi nomadic people who were raiding and enslaving other nomads.
But then again, the idea of confederacy could be a natural ruling disposition humans have formed independently.
This group is very large geographically. What are some similar words that appear in two distant countries? For example the word "chai(tea)" is same in India and some slavic countries. Is there any information of the "words" travel around the world?
pretty crazy huh? did you know there are also languages not even in the same family that share vocabulary?

It's mid 1915. The great war has just ended, but in this timeline with Russia as a supreme partaker in the peace deals, as it has the following months, broken into Galicia and washed over the Hungarian plain, making AH surrender.
Germany, by losing it's ally, aswell as not being able to drive the Russians out of East-Prussia, makes peace aswell.
In this timeline, what do you think the future holds for Russia and the tsarom?
How do you think it's west-European allies reacts?

>How do you think it's west-European allies reacts?

So this is basically "What happens if the Russian Empire survives WW1"? That really depends on what happens with Constantinople. Great Britain promised that Russia would get Constantinople at the end of the war if it resulted in Entente victory. Capturing Constantinople and the Dardanelles has long been a foreign policy objective for the Russians, both for religious reasons, and for military reasons. Whoever controls Constantinople can also control access to the Black Sea. The Black Sea has immense economic and military importance for Russia, and controlling the Dardanelles would make Russia's position in the Black Sea much more secure. Knowing this, Great Britain has schemed for decades to prevent Russia from acquiring the Dardanelles in a long series of intrigues known as "The Great Game." However, as part of the Triple Entente agreement, Great Britain promised that they would finally stop, and Russia would be allowed to take possession of Constantinople and the Dardanelles after the war if the Central Powers were defeated.
And so the question becomes, would Britain have kept their promise, or not? Probably not. They would have probably given Constantinople to Greece instead of Russia because "muh balance of power." This would immediately leave Russia feeling tricked, betrayed, and embittered. WW2 is started whenever Russia decides to take Constantinople away from Greece.

What's the point of being pol or conservative if you surrender everything all the time?
In the past
>Women can be based, give them the vote!
>Asians can be based!
>Blacks can be based!
Present
>Based black man fucker! I hate trans fuckers!
Future
>Based trans fuckers! I hate kid fuckers!
>Based kid fuckers! I hate animal fuckers!
>Based animal fuckers! I hate plant fuckers!
>Based plant fuckers! I hate martian fuckers!
>Based martian fuckers! I hate within 10 light years alien fuckers!
>Based within 10 light year alien fuckers! I hate galaxy fuckers!
>Based galaxy fuckers! I hate 5 dimensional fuckers!
>Based 5 dimensional fuckers! I hate infinite dimensional fuckers
>Based infinite dimensional fuckers
And near the end of time, when the socialists have almost succeeded in their end goal of a universe with evenly distributed entropy
>Based blob of entropy differing from universal average by 0.1 %! I hate evenly distributed entropy! The conservatives are winning guys!!! I'll never evenly spread my entropy like they want me to!
And then the socialists win.
>/pol/ is everybody right of centre-right(I'm not actually familiar with their politics or memes)
>politics has been and will be a conflict of conservatism vs socialism

Is there any place for me to find information pertaining to Lenin's bodyguards?
According to what I heard from some relatives, my grand-grandfather was a Lenin's bodyguard, but then apparently figured what a bloody mess the revolution is and fucked off to recently established Belorussian Socialist Republic. Allegedly even got a document signed by Lenin himself telling to give him some land for serving the cause or something, and he settled in Smarhon’, but seeing how Belarus got fucked during WW2 the document was destroyed. Is there any Russian or Belorussian archive that could have a copy of a document like that?

No wonder he decided to return to life of simple peasant afterwards
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imad_ad-Din_Zengi
>In 1130 Zengi allied with Taj al-Mulk Buri of Damascus against the crusaders, but this was only a ruse to extend his power; he had Buri's son taken prisoner and seized Hama from him.
> 1135 Zengi received an appeal for help from Ismail, who had succeeded his father Buri as emir of Damascus, and who was in fear for his life from his own citizenry, who considered him a cruel tyrant. Ismail was willing to surrender the city to Zengi in order to restore peace.
>None of Ismail's family or advisors wanted this, however, and Ismail was murdered by his own mother, Zumurrud, to prevent him from turning over the city
>In May 1138 Zengi came to an agreement with Damascus. He married Zumurrud, the same woman who had murdered her son Ismail, and received Homs as her dowry.
>kill the father/son
>marry the mother

Let's play a game
Write down an idea for a movie or tv show, /his/ related, but it must appeal to normies
Show: The Merovingians
Political Intrigue, betrayal, assassination and war. Set in the early Frankish kingdoms, opposing queens Brunhilda and Fredegund face each other with with all the tools at their disposal, be them armies or hidden daggers.
Brunhilda is the good one, warrior woman. Fredegund the bad one, conniving woman.
Appearing are their husbands, children and other relatives, Gregory of Tours and as well a group of commoners affected by the wars of their superiors.
Show starts with those two starting their lifelong blood feud and ending with Brunhilda being executed by Clothar, who is set to rule unchallenged.
Which is the most interesting campaign of WW2 and why is it Operation Barbarossa?
>that scale with millions of men on each side
>3 different army groups tell a different tale and each has it's own difficulties to overcome
>desperate race for time from the German PoV to defeat Soviet Union while Soviets fight desperately to stall till winter so they can regroup
>Germans went from BTFO Soviets easily in June to freezing to death near the gates of Moscow
Fuck, I could say the same thing about the entire Eastern Front desu
It's hard to believe that this shit actually happened
>>3355450
Barbarossa, with the Pacific campaign a close second. Kamikazes, boobie traps, the mass suicides, and banzai attacks. It would be incredibly demoralizing to fight an enemy so welcoming of death
Childhood is idolizing the Roman Empire.
