would have been.

>1848 revolt of the huns
in hindsight the hungarians were really foolish, if their little revolt had succeeded and they got their independence, they and all the other parts of AH would have been swallowed by Russia and Prussia.

Instead of working together to turn AH into a central european powerhouse, they kept bitching and moaning while letting it fall apart. But it didn't take those nations long to realise that independence is fine and dandy until your larger neighbours come knocking for clay, or you realize that the serbs in belgrade are little better than vienna, while also being more corrupt.

It's amazing how stupid the germans were during ww1 and 2.

They could just have waited for france to enter one of it's decadely rebellions, and walk in as a peacekeeping force, not only chipping off territory in the process, but also having either the new or old government in their debt/gratitude for helping out, depending on the side chosen.
>>
>>3128379
In the same way that Brazil and Mexico "won" the second world war. Being in a war on the side of the countries that actually won it is hardly a decisive contribution.

Tell me about the free french

I heard only a few of the French rescued at Dunkirk joined the Free French. Why?

Was de Gaulle a French Churchill with regards to standing up for his country despite (at the time) overwhelming odds?

Why didn't all the colonies immediately join Free France?

Why didn't the French fleet join the RN?

Why French soldiers fight for Vichy against the Allies? Were those soldiers made to or fascists or did were they upset with the UK etc?

Most of the French rescued at Dunkirk were repatriated back to France to continue the fight, think about 2k joined the free French.
>>
>>3128337
Because most people don't view wars as a struggle of GOOD vs EVIL. The French government surrendered, and that carried a hell of a lot more legitimacy than a rogue Brigadier general off in Africa rabble-rousing.

>I heard only a few of the French rescued at Dunkirk joined the Free French. Why?

Very low morale. The enormous amount of casualties that France suffered in the First World War, most people didn't want another war. Even the ones who were rescued from France went back to their normal lives instead of fighting the Germans.
>Was de Gaulle a French Churchill with regards to standing up for his country despite (at the time) overwhelming odds?

No. De Gaulle's only long-term goal was obtaining power. He used whatever means he had at his disposal

>Why didn't all the colonies immediately join Free France?

A lot of French colonies prefered to join Vichy because to support the Vichy. De Gaulle's "state" seemed very pro-british and frenchmen disliked Britain for various reasons that I list in the next sentence.

>Why didn't the French fleet join the RN?

A lot of french soldiers and sailor disliked the british because they "abandoned" them. This anti-british sentiment grew much stronger after the attack on Mers-el-Kebir. French people didn't want to fight fro de Gaulle, who seemed very pro-British.

>Why French soldiers fight for Vichy against the Allies
There were plenty of Nazi supporters among the people of France.

Hello, /his/. I would like to expand my knowledge about history and saw that you guys seem to have a profound knowledge of any kind of history, which leads me to ask where do you got all this knowledge from?

I would really appreciate it if you guys could recommend me books, youtube-channes, websites or any other form of historical informations.

Audio-books, mostly. I used to really hate long car rides because I get bored easily. So I started listening to audio-books in the car.
>>

>where do you got all this knowledge from
Its a bit embarrassing to say but I played EU4, some of the events described in it got me more interested in history, and then I went to my local library and started reading books about the histories of different nations and eras. You can learn a lot from reading history books, funny how that works.

I can't really give you recommendations (other than to go to a library) until you narrow down what you're interested in more. But you might be better off just going to the library and speaking to a librarian about how you're interested in history but don't know where to start. Librarians are a great, and unfortunately underused resource.

>Napoleon wanted to establish legitimacy of his imperial reign, with its new royal family and new nobility. Therefore, he designed a new coronation ceremony that was unlike the ceremony used for the kings of France. In the traditional coronation, kings underwent a ceremony of consecration (sacre) rather than a coronation; in consecration, anointment was conferred by the archbishop of Reims in Notre-Dame de Reims.[2] Napoleon's was a sacred ceremony held in the great cathedral in the presence of Pope Pius VII. Napoleon brought together an assortment of different rites and customs, incorporating aspects of Carolingian tradition, the ancien régime and the French Revolution, all presented in sumptuous luxury.[3] According to government tallies, the entire cost was over 8.5 million francs.

Wow what a fucking douchebag.

10. Invasion of Britain was unrealistic, Germany had no navy and any force that got close to the island would get shredded.
9. The US would declare war on the Germans eventually.
8. There was a Holocaust.
7. Japan was never going to pursue their expansion down south together with attack on USSR. They aleady got BTFO at Khalkin Gol and weren't willing to risk again.
6. Irrelevant, Germany had no long term chances to succesfuly wage war
.5. Irrelevant.
4.Same.
3. This too.
2. They couldn't fight on one front even if they wanted to.
1. German pre-war economy was set on war and they were already running on immense deficit from rearmament program that went beyond Germany's material capabilities. The only option was to begin war and loot and pillage other countries in order to sustain the economy.;

>In April 2012, the election of a young gay man who was living in a registered same-sex partnership to a pastoral council in Vienna was vetoed by the parish priest. After meeting with the couple, Schönborn reinstated him. He later advised in a homily that priests must apply a pastoral approach that is "neither rigorist nor lax" in counselling Catholics who "don't live according to [God's] master plan".[38]
