Do we still live in Iron Age?
>>3169962
No.
>>3169962
No, and I've always wondered what future historians will call our era. The Steel age?
>>3169985
The aluminum age, we use it more than steel. Aluminum used to be so difficult to create that it was more valuable than gold.
So do we just like this guy because he looks weird and is 5th generation inbred. What type of things did he do?

>19th century France
>Suddenly the French start wanking off Vercingetorix
>This is just after France had been "reinvented" by Napoleon
What the actual fuck happened here? I know that it was in vogue to suddenly dig up ancient figures and start wanking them off at the time (the British suddenly started pretending Boudica wasn't a pile of shit, and the Germans based their culture of savagery on Arminius' betrayal) but why did the French opt for Vercingetorix and not the more obvious Caesar? The parallels between Napoleon and Caesar are so incredibly obvious, it barely needs explanation. Why did they not opt to base center their Romance(!) culture around one of the greatest military and political minds to have ever lived, and instead opted for some unwashed barbarian who ended up challenging said military genius for about five seconds? Not even the "muh republic" argument makes sense, as both Napoleon and Caesar had semi-republican modes of ruling while Vercingetorix' authority more closely resembled the Ancien Régime.
>>3169840
>Romance(!) culture
*chuckle*
There is no such thing
>>3169840
>why did the French opt for Vercingetorix and not the more obvious Caesar?
because Vercingetorix was French you fucking autist
Because Caesar was as Italian as Napoleon, and they needed a home-grown hero of their own, not an import
>taking pride in what some medieval bullies who low-key owned your ancestors did
When did nationalism become this retarded?
Maybe it's not in all countries, but in Serbia where I'm from, nobility and king were a bunch of assholes.
One story that left a mark on me was this one king who ''married'' an infant Byzantine princess and consummated marriage when she was 8 or so, which hurt her and made her unable to have kids.
Why the fuck should I feel ''pride'' for what these people accomplished?
Representants of the people.
At the least know where you've come from
Even if you don't like the king, he is part of your nation's and your history
Nationalism is only ok for me because despite being some backwater shithole country I actually did have royal family n sheeeet
Literally wuz kangz
Hello /his/
I got a friend working on a historical game similar to Mount and Blade and I need your advice. He and his team are still brainstorming and he is looking for an interesting historical setting. He watched game of thrones and really liked how all the men at the wall were left for themselves in a unforgiving wilderness. He also liked how they all got along, even though they were in for very different reasons.
He specifically asked me if there were similar real life instances like these and the time period favored would be between the 15th and 17h century (which are also rarely depicted in games). He wants to be historical (with a few changes for gameplay) with the main focus being survival, establishing contact with locals, trading and exploring.
I already had a few examples like
>New France
>Conquistadores and the new world
>The various portuguese trading posts along Africa and India
>Russian Cossaks
Trouble is I know about these events but not in details, like how many were they, what was day to day life etc...
Any suggestions?
>>3169765
tell him to get a real job
>>3169785
He does actually. It's a side project
>>3169765
Just release it in early Alpha and figure it out within five years or so. Then you can abandon it
Were Great Helms ever used with later medieval plate armor? I'm looking through the replica armor that's being sold on eBay and they have all these great helms fitted with plate armor. Isn't this historically inaccurate?
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=500&_udhi=700&_nkw=knight+armor&_sop=15
Also are there any historical examples of great helms ever being used with plate armor? I don't know much about knight armor but I started watching some documentaries recently and it's started to stick out badly that this isn't right.
No. Great helms pop up and disappear very quickly. They bad moved on to sugarloafs and early bascinets by the time what most people think if as "plate armour" becomes common.
>>3169692
So this armor would be more historically accurate with something else, like this helmet instead?

Is Israel an ethno/apartheid state and if so why do they dislike the Nazis of the 1940's?
>>3169639
>Is Israel an ethno/apartheid state[?]
YES, IT IS FLAGRANTLY EVIDENT...
>... and if so why do they dislike the Nazis of the 1940's?
?
NATIONAL SOCIALISM IS ANTITHETICAL TO ZIONISM.
YOU ARE EITHER A ZIONIST AGENT FEIGNING IGNORANCE, OR AN IGNORANT IDIOT.
>>3169736
>YES, IT IS FLAGRANTLY EVIDENT...
Yes, so evident that you omit such evidence, as you did with your claim of massacres against Germans in Poland in the other thread.
>>3169736
Actually the Nazis wanted a jewish ethnostate. It just wouldn't be a democratic institution.
Is history a science?
>>3169455
Modern history is more like national legends and propaganda.
>>3169455
No, it's a social "science".
>>3169531
As opposed to ancient history? Lmao
Do you think Russia regrets giving it away?
>>3169428
no
>itsfuckingnothing.gif
Considering how much useless land they hold like Siberia and how even though they are the largest country in the world they somehow continue to annex Crimea and invade Georgia, yes, I'm pretty sure those drunken bastards regret giving away Alaska.
It would belong to the British now if they did not. Alaska is forever a monument to Russia-US relations.
He did nothing wrong
>>3169382
He did nothing.
>>3169478
He stood by his principles, and people hate that which is why they talk shit about him. I experienced this my whole life, so I know how it feels.
>>3169483
Alright, I'm wearing my fedora now. Please tell me how standing by your principles gets people to hate you.
How have (((they))) managed to fabricate millions of eye witness testimonies of the holocaust, produce thousands of fake photographs of dead bodies, convince nearly 100% of all reputable historians of its existence, and even infiltrate the Nazi party at the height of it's power at the highest levels of it? Also why have (((they))) given over 26,000 awards to people for something that never truly happened

Were Ancient Egyptians black?
>>3168990
No, ancient Egyptians were a branch of Semitic people. There would have been a black minority inhabiting Egypt hailing primarily from Nubia however.
WE
>>3168990
Egyptians were Nordic aryans. So were the Babylonians. Look it up.
