How does NAP deal with a situation where two individuals disagree about who owns the property?

the NAP works like the Highlander: there can only be one.
You just talk shit and bait each other until one you takes a swing

Why does buddhism get a 'free pass' from atheists?
Buddhism itself is full of faith-based teachings.
>>3185575
Depends which type of Buddhism.
>>3185575
Well, most atheists ARE Buddhists, so obviously they're not going to contradict themselves.
They like to leave out that the part of escaping samsara which makes it a Dharmaic religion and therefore Top Brahma if they ever imply there are no gods.

Why is it that sayings like "life's a bitch and then you die" have universal appeal, and yet I can't think of any concrete idea of how life could be better?
It seems to me that there is no conceivable life-worthy universe where there wouldn't also be suffering, death, etc. I mean suffering is just unmet desires, right? It's a precondition of anything happening at all. And death is the only alternative to living forever, which doesn't sound so great.
How can it be, that things couldn't be any better, and yet massive religions are founded on the idea that things are shit?
>>3184580
>Why is it that sayings like "life's a bitch and then you die" have universal appeal...
BECAUSE THEY ARTICULATE TRUTH.
>... and yet I can't think of any concrete idea of how life could be better?
BECAUSE YOU LACK IMAGINATION.
>It seems to me that there is no conceivable life-worthy universe where there wouldn't also be suffering, death, etc.
1. THERE IS ONLY ONE UNIVERSE.
2. SUFFERING, AND DEATH, ARE CONTINGENT ON MATTER; ANY MATERIAL ARRANGEMENT IS SUBJECT TO SUFFERING, AND TO DEATH.
>I mean suffering is just unmet desires, right?
NOT NECESSARILY; SUFFERING HAS MULTIPLE CAUSES, AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE KINDS OF SUFFERING.
>And death is the only alternative to living forever, which doesn't sound so great.
1. PHYSICAL DEATH IS MERELY A TRANSITION AWAY FROM THE KOSMOS.
2. NOT EVERYONE THAT DIES IS DESTINED TO THE PLEROMA; MOST SOULS ARE DESTINED TO ETERNAL DOOM IN THE DEPTHS OF THE ABYSS; ONLY THE NOBLE ONES WILL BE BROUGHT INTO THE PLEROMA AFTER THE END OF THE WORLD.
>How can it be, that things couldn't be any better...
PHYSICAL LIFE IN THE WORLD CAN BE BETTER.
>... and yet massive religions are founded on the idea that things are shit?
TO IMPROVE SOMETHING ONE FIRSTLY NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE ITS CURRENT DEFICIENT CONDITION.

Also, read Camus. Absurdism doesn't offer any solution, but rather truth to the matter. Life is hell, but existence is better than non-existence, that's just like saying 1>0. You cannot derive meaning, only assign it, you cannot live life without evil, only mitigate the evil which you do.
Camus was a contemporary of Satre, but differed notable in his unease about Communism. Sure, it might end suffering if it really pans how it's intended, but I think he knew life and humanity would ruin any utopia.
Why didn't America ever nationalize its natural resources (coal, oil, copper, etc.) and transportation networks (railroads, airlines, streetcars) like most of Europe, Asia, and Latin America?
>>3184247
Because it was domestically stable enough that it could ensure a constant supply of strategic resources and transportation without having to take over everything. Why burden yourself with the administration of all that shit if you don't have to?
(Also, a lot of railroads in the U.S. are owned by various levels of government, although more commonly state government than federal government. And they own pretty much all the roads)
>>3184247
FDR is probably the closest thing that America has ever had to a real socialist president and even he would have been revolted by the idea of nationalizing industry. Regulating it, absolutely, but not taking direct control.
ever since the get-go, there's been a strong aversion to putting too much power/control in the hands of the government, or at least one part of it
it's a big reason why the US has survived so long: a functional system of checks and balances/separation of power, even when opposing sides hate each other at abnormal levels
now you can argue that the American government is very powerful as is, and i think that's a fair statement, but the fact there's no national control of things like resources, infrastructure, or healthcare is telling of American political culture. people would cry tyranny at any such arrangement.
hell there's still friction between the federal/state levels, and 'muh states rights' was a driving factor behind the Civil War.
this is the same country whose first system, the Articles of Confederation, was such a decentralized mess they HAD to change it
there's also the factor of a strong tradition of private enterprise. unlike in Europe, where you have the legacy of an aristocracy who controlled all the land and wouldn't be caught dead engaging in business or commerce.
Ancient Egyptian is not white

Wouldn't polyethism be at higher risk of in house fighting if two different cities/countries had the same religion but their focus on different gods.
But ye it would be way cooler to have more than one god. They would also have way more distinct abilities and personalities instead of just "he's omnipotent lol".
Recently one of my friends told me to watch The Greatest Story Never Told and so I decided to even though I've never really cared about it and one of the things shown in the video was about how Poland was exiling, discriminating, and killing Germans in their former lands where there was still significant German populations. It also described how the Polish were calling for the murder of Germans on a radio station right before Germany invaded. Now I have always been a huge history fan since I was young particularly Roman and WW2 history so I knew that the radio tower thing was German propaganda where they snuck in and broadcast that as to make it seem like the Germans there were in an immediate threat so they could invade right away.
I also know that Poland was mobilizing troops before that and could be seen as an act of hostility that way but so were Germans around the same time so it's hard to determine who was mobilizing first. But one thing I thought that was common knowledge was that the Polish were treating Germans like crap prior to WW2 and did end up killing at least some of them while pushing them out or having public outcries against Germany after Czechoslovakia.
I recently got into an argument with someone and brought that up as a prelude to WW2 and to explain partially why it happened and they told me it was false but I remember reading about it even in high school through history books back in the 90s and any readings on WW2. Well I went back to research to see if it was true and now I can barely find anything, most of it is just neo-Nazi sites and forums of people saying its just not true propaganda but I can not find anything from around that time period or even slightly after discussing those claims or disputes. And from what I remember when I was younger and read or looked things up for WW2 I swear it was something was taught as the prelude, but it was never taught as an excuse for the horrible things Nazi Germany did afterwards.
>>3183178
The closest thing I can find to mentioning it now on a "normal" source (wikipedia so we all know how that goes) is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Corridor
Which talks about a large exodus of Germans and occasional violence and discrimination but gives no definite and even says that it's not an excuse. Am I crazy, did I actually learn about that as common and its been slowly faded out or is it something that was always never true? I swear I remembered it years and years ago being taught with Poland German relations but now I honestly have no idea?
>>3183178
>Recently one of my friends told me to watch The Greatest Story Never Told
>knew that the radio tower thing was German propaganda where they snuck in and broadcast that as to make it seem like the Germans there were in an immediate threat so they could invade right away.
Do you have a single source for that? Other than allied propaganda. The invasion of Poland was an act of self defense.
>Okay Austria we handle France while you keep Russians off our backs.
>Austria... what are you doing?

Wasn't the plan that the germans would keep the russians off their own backs, and the austrians would kind of do whatever?

>>3183058
French leadership was almost as bad for most of the war. They just got away with it because they had so many more men to throw into the meat grinder, whereas Austria had no such reserves.

I assume the distortion around Bergen relates to Varg Vikernes?
>>3182915
>Līvõmō
Livonia barely had any Livonians at this point. Latvians have the majority, and Estonians are close. Should be either "Inflanty", "Liefland", or just "Livonia".
Bialy Kamien should be "Weißenstein" or "Wittenstein" (dated by this point, but valid before the 16th century), since it belongs to Sweden, not Poland.
Ivangorod is probably accurate, but I would like "Jaanilinn" (the Estonian version) or "Iivananlinna" (the Finnish version) better.
Wesenburg should be "Wesenberg"
>>3183043
Just noticed Latgale is marked as "Inflanty". Odd.
Also, "Wiek" is not the name of a city, it's the name in German for the entire county known in Estonian as "Läänemaa" (lit. "Westland"), and in Latin as "Rotalia".
The city marked is "Hapsal" in German and Swedish.
Who were the early Christians?
We know they were Jews. We know it originated as a sect in Roman Palestine. We know they traveled and were probably wealthy people of some sorts. Perhaps they were merchants. We know many were Greek speaking Jewish diaspora.
What else do we know about them? What were their motivations? What did Christianity mean to them?
I've heard all sorts of theories about their origins. Some claim it was some sort of sect that was supposed to eventually lead to a rebellion against the Romans. Others say it was just Hellenistic Judaism i.e. Greek influence on Judaism, a sort of merging of the two cultures.
What do you guys think?
yeah, mostly hellenized jews like Paul himself, they were a rising middle class
>>3182633
The early Christians were Jews who recognized that Jesus is not only the messiah, but the Son of God. On the first day of the Church, Pentecost 32 AD, 3,000 men became Christians, and likely an unrecorded and greater number of women, and likely an even greater number of children. So perhaps the first day you have 15,000 Christians. And then more every day.
We know that the Jews were rounding up the Christians, putting them on trial and killing them, so most Christians were either underground or fled Jerusalem. We have a pretty good idea which direction each disciple went.
And then of course when Israel was destroyed, the diaspora of the Jews was also the diaspora of the Christians. We know that many of the Hellanized Jews were nominal Christians by reading the book of Hebrews, and seeing that group of people vacillating between their new belief and their old social order.
Christianity has been, and will continue to be, an underground movement. A personal decision. A vast minority.
>>3182658
Paul was not hellanized; he was a Roman citizen and a member of the Sanhedrin.
Has transsexuality been documented in different cultures throughout history?
Is transgenderism more modern?
>>3182346
Transgenderism is new, gender variance as in identifying other than how you were sending at birth is ancient.
It's semantics but there is a difference, in my community and else where globally.
>>3182346
No, it's a mental illness that existed since the antiquity at least.
