>"We shall go on to the end. We shall let the Americans fight in France, we shall let the Americans fight on the seas and oceans, we shall let them fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall let them defend our island, whatever the cost for them may be. We shall let the Americans fight on the beaches, we shall let the Americans fight on the landing grounds, we shall let them fight in the fields and in the streets and we shall let the Americans fight in the hills"

Can the form of government the Japanese had during and prior WW2 constitute a variety of fascism?
Or was it just old fashioned imperialistic nationalism?
It's clear that it is very different, but also shared obvious affinities with the contemporaneous fascist movements in Europe.
I think 'failed state' or 'polyarchy' is the best description of Japan at the time.
Were they the good guys?

Yes
I wonder what would happen if they succeeded.
The first 10 ottoman sultans were all more or less effective rulers. Why did the quality of leadership decline so suddenly after Suliman's death?
IMO Too many assasinations of capable heirs mixed with bad luck.

Harem rosties had too much power

Ever wonder why the only achievements of Turks you hear about is conquest? Turks can't into culture or technological advancement. It took them for fucking ever to accept the Printing Press, after about 1600 all they did was conquer weak Muslim lands and grow more and more corrupt and useless like all Turk Empires. While they were degenerating the west was having breakthroughs in all fields and finding a way to trade to Asia without needing to go through the Middle-east the Ottomans didn't have an answer to this development.
Even the advanced Cannon they used to take Constantinople wasn't even made by them.
Let's have a discussion about the history of nuclear weapons.
A few questions to get us going....
What would the affects of a full out nuclear war be?
How close were other nations to getting nuclear weapons before Canada and the UK with some help from the USA developed nuclear weapons in the Manhatten Project?
When has mankind come closet to nuclear war and how was it averted?
Pic not related.
What does some 3DPD slut have to do with any of that?

People meme and say it will kill everything, but I call bullshit on that. Granted it will be terrible, but it ain't gonna destroy humanity. Maybe even 50% will thanks to the famines and nuclear winter, but that will subside and we might even go through a new dark age for awhile. Basically, it will be the age of the rural survivalists and when the underdog civilizations get a chance to be top dog, like the ones in africa, the pacific, and perhaps even the central asians.
At what point do ethnicities begin to "exist?"
What're the qualifications for a group of people to be considered a race?

An invented history has to be established as fact int the minds of the people.
that's pretty much it.
What did you guys learn in school about famous Brazilian physicist Alberto Einstão?

Geographic variation actually promotes localism. The whole reason why despotic regimes form everywhere else on Eurasia was because they're mostly wide open spaces which lend themselves to rapid conquest by hordes of horsemen and/or light infantry, and in these instances victory always goes to the better organized force.
Celtic culture was simply too fractured to provide that level of organization, which is why the Romans were able to pick them apart through divide and conquer

>society should be strictly separated into hierarchic classes, arts should be censored, most power should be held by military
Seriously, why do people still read ancient philosophers? I understand that they helped in the beginning, but their ideas are so obsolete in modern era.
>>3169435
>why do people still read Plato
ftfy
>he didn't get that The Republic isn't about a literal city and is instead a treatise on metaphysics, the soul, and musical theory
Dude, you're getting stumped by philosophy that's literally two thousand years old. Go back and reread it, this time actually pay attention.
>only relationships with women are Platonic
Pretty interesting that ancient Greek heroes and Catholic saints are so alike. Both are believed to be more powerful in their local area, both are greater than mortals but lesser than god (s), both are believed to favor their followers, both are enshrined in tombs and statues, both receive offerings, and the physical remains of both are revered as sacred. Why is that?
I've been trying to find more info about Jordan B Peterson, not just watching his videos and stuff, but trying to find out what the rest of the academy thinks of him. You know how nowadays youtube and social media can make any moron famous. So I want to know: what his /his/ opinion on him?
He makes a lot of claims regarding patriarchy being fake. Postmodernism trying to destroy the west. And about the christian 'logos'. But he also talks a lot about Jung and some stuff that have no scientific evidence, and that's why I'm trying to find out more.
>>3169280
*what is /his/ opinion on him?
sorry
I like him, but after I've watched most of his lectures, he really doesn't say anything new.
Which is fine I mean, he doesn't have to continuously reinvent himself, but I guess after the novelty of what he's saying wears off, you tend to move on to other topics and thinkers.
But he was very valuable to listen to.
>He makes a lot of claims regarding patriarchy being fake
As someone who has watched all of his lectures I more often have heard him say that "Yes we live in a _______ patriarchy, obviously..." and affirming it and making an argument for why the existence of patriarchal society isn't a bad thing.
Alot of what he says is based in metaphysics so if you don't give credence to anything in that vein then he is basically a waste of time. But if you are like me and like listening to a high iq frog man wax autistic about the old testament he is pretty interesting. Both of his recent university lecture series and his new biblical one is fantastic.
Was Thomas Hobbes right?
>>3169122
No but closer to the truth than Rousseau
>>3169135
that's not difficult, since Rousseau was completely wrong
I think he was too extreme with how much government should control you. Locke is pretty much his happy medium.
