>consistently underperforming armies, bad doctrine and armaments design for almost the entire war
>only saving grace is a lopsided supply situation all but guaranteeing an allied victory
>xDDD the allied generals were so good... because, because they won!
Why do redditors say this?
>>3208600
but it's true though. I've listened to people who genuinely think monty was a great general because he beat a ragtag army half his size, even while they're unwilling to admit that this was an achievement because the germans were kicking the brits ass all over africa up until then
etc

There is no left, or right in America. Just two different big business lobby parties who differ on a few social issues and that's it.
Reminder that people still deny this fact.

we lost the war bro , it went full communist
but we lost it due to politics , our military fought with one hand tied behind their backs
>>3206915
there is no other way how to loose a war
Hilarious that all """"""communist"""""" countries today are actually totally not communist.
Based North Korea tho entirely untouchable
when did the "right wing=individualism/capitalism and collectivism, statism=leftism" meme become mainstream and why?
is it because of the cold war?
i know it originated in america but to my understanding the conservatives in USA where in the past for interventionism just like European conservatives
Its entirely an American invention
But its not confined to just right wingers, I was reading the Unabomber manifesto and he was outlying that the greatest value in society is individualism, no wonder then you have all these leftypol kiddies lapping up that Stirner bullshit "the individual is basically a God".
In European philosophy (minus the eternal perfidious Anglo) the problem has always been one of defining positive freedom in political movements. From Absolutism, to the Enlightenment, to socialism and Fascism this has always been the essential political struggle.

Jesus Christ Americans never cease to amaze me.
>>3206525
its only that in America. Right wing in europe refers exclusively to stormfags. The small eurobrain cant handle such concepts and has to choose between either a communist dictatorship or a fascist one while the superior north americans can run their own lives in the comfy wilderness
What positive things did Christianity do for Europe that she didn't already have from the pagan Romans and Greeks?
People like to say morals but for me it seens we don't use the morals of the bible, we use the bible to justify morals we already got from elsewhere.
>>3206233
To be fair to Christianity, Roman paganism had no real sense of charity whatsoever. 'Eugertism' isn't exactly the same thing. Lots of poor people greatly benefited from Christianity, particularly before the rise of a centralised, wealth-exploitative Church.
>>3206238
The Romans may have had no concept of charity but the idea was far from new in Christianity, the Greeks certainly had such concepts and in fact it is from the Greeks that Christianity adopted the idea, not vice versa.

All those holidays, dude. The Church had 60+ holidays a year in the middle ages, or so I've heard. Not gonna look it up now
What is the ideal way for a society to express sexuality?
What I mean is: Is it better for sexuality to be repressed in the public space...or is it better to recognize sexual depictions as a natural an unavoidable by-product of public life and thus accepted?
For example. the Indian Hindus made frequent displays of sex and sexual content through the most stunning and ornate artwork at the time given the great wealth. It was also woven into their religion, and works like the "kama sutra" became sex guide and scripture all in one. The Indians, despite their society, would be considered "degenerate" in a more sexual repressed and, let us say, "prudish" way at the same time periods, mainly Christian Europe. The Sari on women is much more lurid and lecherous than any dress worn in Europe. So obviously each society has a different degree of exposure when it comes to sexual imagery in average things, and I ask: What is a more advantageous action? Repress sexual displays in culture or not?
why people get so up in arms about sexuality is beyond me, like yes the way i've been brought up i find public displays of it confronting and personally would adhere to a fairly normal attitude towards it but it's hardly the worst thing in the world
if it is between consenting adults, it does no harm to anyone, and causes no ill provided contraception is used
it's cliche but the contrast between how we treat displays of violence vs displays of passion is bewildering
why repress something that is as much a part of human expression as any other biological function?
>>3206159
>why repress something that is as much a part of human expression as any other biological function?
Because it's an integral part of the desert people religion we practice.
>>3206170
it's pretty bloody silly
not to say that we should thing the pendulum to far the other way, at the risk of cheapening/contorting sexuality, but its completely harmless and alot of fun
Was he a good emperor?
>>3206081
He was kind of a yes man, just sat there and signed of things that the government would have done anyway during ww2. Hirohito struck me as someone who didn't really want his position, he said "I first found freedom in England" or something like that, because he loved the causal and friendly attitudes of the British royals. He also seemed more interested in travelling, marine biology, Disney and just having fun compared to being considered some sort of Jesus figure.
Here he is enjoying a spot of golf in England.
Compared to granddad? No.
Better than his father though who was legit mentally unstable.
>>3206111

Will we ever see a monarchy resurgence in Europe?
>>3205966
Hopefully. It's the only God approved form of government after all.
>tfw I live in a republic
>tfw I'm going to hell
>>3205966
No.
>>3205966
In its most traditional form? No. Politics in the west is getting more populist and authoritarian. Whether you go right or left, Trump or Bernie, there is a common trend among both their movements.
The theme is that they will be paladin Presidents that will get into office, bring the evildoers to heel, and fix the country through their force of will.
Perhaps society is shifting back to monarchy, but not in the manner of the ancien regime. More in the manner of having a plebiscite electing the strongman
Hey, european anon here. I was wondering if /his/ can help me understand syndicalism in the South. Was it a legit issue, or is it a meme?
>>3205648
syndie scum need to fuck off
Huey Long did nothing wrong
>>3205662
But... I know Long was a "populist", but was he against unions? I thought he was popular with the worker class.
this has to be a meme, the South was mostly agrarian until after WWII, and syndicalism was past its heyday by then (in fact, it would be heavily scrutinized as 'communist' by contemporary US authorities)
even in the prime of trade unions in the US as a whole - from about the 1870s to WWII - syndicalism was never a strong current since even basic socialism was so frowned upon by the establishment (the New Deal era being an exception)
Anyone got some civil war pics? It can be art or photography but i'm interested in the era, going to dump what i have.
