What kind of historic variables could explain Australia's success as an empire while at the same time explaining Africa's lack of success? Both land masses are awful similar. It's just the people that were different. There must be some characteristic that greatly differed between the people that people aren't discussing.

The first and most integral element to understanding in these kinds of discussions is for you to not be completely retarded.
Capitalism and common law.
>fewer, less aggressive natives
>more focus on colonisation compared to the african snatch and grab
>little to no competition on the continent from other colonial powers
just a few ideas of maybe why

Sometimes I wonder if the Germans were delusional or just uninformed. There was no way they could ever hope to defeat the Soviets+Britain/France. Let alone the USA as well. Just from a pure logistics and manpower standpoint.
I made a map of the current European countries with dates in which they first achieved statehood.
For some of the countries I decided to go with the earlies confirmed historical date rather than semi-legendary.
I know I couldn't get it all right so what would you change?

I... I panicked. I didn't know what to choose.
So many dates.
Also I don't know if you're aware but you just posted my OC. Nice coincidence.
So Germany should start with this one?

"It is all a matter of comparing one’s own life with something worse and consoling oneself with the relativity of human fortunes. I used to know a family in a little village near mine: father, mother and sons. Very energetic people, especially the woman. I knew that besides the sons we knew, this woman had another son nobody had seen, who was spoken of in whispers, as if he were a great disgrace for the mother, an idiot, a monster or worse. I remember that my mother referred to this woman often as a martyr, who made great sacrifices for this son, and put up with great sorrows. One Sunday morning about ten, I was sent to this woman’s: I had to deliver some crocheting and get the money. I found her shutting the door, dressed up to go out to mass. On seeing me she hesitated then decided. She told me to accompany her to a certain place, and that she would take delivery and give me the money on our return. She took me out of the village, into an orchard filled with rubbish and plaster; in one corner there was a sort of pig sty, about four feet high, and windowless, with only a strong door. She opened the door and I could hear an animal-like howling. Inside was her son, a robust boy of 18, who couldn’t stand up and hence scraped along on his seat to the door, as far as he was permitted to move by a chain linked to his waist and attached to the ring in the wall. He was covered with filth, and his eyes shone red, like those of a nocturnal animal. His mother dumped the contents of her basket – a mixed mess of household leftovers – into a stone trough. She filled another trough with water, and we left. I said nothing to my mother about what I had seen, so great an impression it had made on me, and so convinced was I that nobody would believe me. Nor when I later heard of the misery which had befallen that poor mother, did I interrupt to talk of the misery of the poor human wreck who had such a mother."

Why did they join forces? They could've ruled the world.
They even share vast parts of their history and origins.
And why is the Eternal Anglo to blame?
>>3380485
Why did they never*
>Eternal Anglo
>Not the Vengeful Venice
>>3380485
Germans have more in common with Anglos though.
This was a reciprocated sentiment during the Victorian era, Karl Pearson regarded the Prussians as the Anglo-Saxon's sole equal.
Their's was the union that unfortunately never materialized.
How exactly does /his/ not see the central powers as the bad guys in WW1?
>armenian genocide
>german mass killings of Belgium civis
>first to use gas
>first to bomb cities from the air
>first to declare war
Sure, it's not as black and white as WW2, but they're significantly worse than the French/British/Russians.
>be eternal anglo
>crap your pants MUH empire is in danger from germans
>start a world war where russians and french die for you
the bad guy is always the anglos, always, no exceptions
>>3380397
>Indian famine/French colonial wars did show genocidal tendencies
>British mass starvation of Germans
>French used gas first
>Just the first side to develop decent enough tech
>True but dont forget the eternal Ivan was the first who ordered to actually mass mobilize

The Armenian Genocide largely happened because the Russians got the Armenians to revolt against the Ottomans. The Ottoman response - to relocate the Armenians away from the front - was consistent with what the Allies were doing with interment camps in Western Europe. The problem with the Ottomans was that they got Kurdish irregulars to do the relocating (these irregulars loathed the Armenians, had a reputation for brutality and had a lot to gain from eliminating the Armenians) and badly mismanaged the logistics of the relocation. The crux of the debate between Turkey and Armenia is whether or not the Ottoman government actually intended that so many people would die as a result of their actions. The Turks claim incompetence while the Armenians claim malice.

What makes them so prosperous and developed (relative to most sub-Saharan countries) despite being a landlocked country, having very limited resource and have faced one of the worst genocide in mid-90s?
Paul Kagame. Guy is a force of nature surrounded by mostly competent guys.
>>3380255
They have a workaholic culture similar to that of Germany
>>3380255
You have to understand they've always had very dense populations for their region given their soil fertility (from volcanoes unlike most African tropical soils), relative temperate climate (given their elevation), relative lack of disease (malaria and other tropical diseases while existent weren't like Eastern DRC) but most importantly were a highly stratified society that was rooted in strict resource restriction by the elite.
The genocide got the whole world's attention afterwords and their president has an iron fist in keeping his nation open enough for outside investment. They also freely give education to women and women are in leadership which is good for economies rather than just have half the population be poor and uneducated unable to survive in city environments and make a secondary or primary wage for households.
