I've been seeing this picture posted a lot lately. I have some questions about it.

cool
>>3251890
Pardon me, I see a color for electronics related in the key, where is it on th e map?
>>3251913
I think those are general colour legends used for all the continents
Besides being shiny, what did gold have going for it that made many different races and peoples assign it value?
Especially before industrial applications.
Rarity of course
It doesn't tarnish unlike iron.
Goddamn I hate Indians so much
Tell me about Varangian Guard /his/.
>>3251461
A good chunk of them in the 11th century came from Anglo-Saxon refugees hearing about a land offer from the Roman Empire. Once the Normans successfully campaigned in England, some landed nobility and their serfs lost their land to the invaders' nobility. Byzantine emperors offered coastline territory in Bulgaria. Serve the emperor's guard and your family may lead a peaceful life underneath local laws.
The guard pulled from all foreign men however. Germanic northmen made a good impression, so the guard just stayed that way over time. Kievan Rus, Saxons, Jutes, and many others answered the call to Constantinople
the varangian guard is an overrated company of admittedly jovial and well paid scandinavian infantry under the emperor's immediate payroll
nothing they did could not have been done by a native byzantine regiment, save for the varangian's apolitical nature and lack of interest in domestic byzantine affairs.
>>3251461
They were from Varangia and guarded stuff
Well, is there any grounds not to assume that the following:
>Spanish
>Greeks
>Italians
>Egyptians
>Moroccans and other Northwest Africans
>Turks
>Palestinians and select Jews for
>Iraqis and Assyrians
>Iranians
>Dot Indians
All look the same as they did back at their "peaks" (like the Persians when Alexander ran them over or the Palestinians and select Jews back when the Old Testament happened)?
Not really.
Spain is so mixed that saying they are similar to greeks, moroccans or levantinians is a nonsense.
>>3250994
Spain is less mixed than France or Germany, the majority of people have the male haplogroup R1b, the same as Iberians and neo-lithic anatolian farmers than populated Yurop plus a majority of pre-anatolians mithocondrial haplogroups as per usual in Yurop. There are parts of Spain than are more mixed like Cadiz and such zones, but those were Punic colonies for example. The majority of the moors were Ibero-Romans than simply changed the religion, while the berbers and syrians were a minority even in the ruling class with lots of nobles being converted Ibero Romans magnates or Arrian Visigoths.

Mad lad
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corwin_Amendment
>Union: Hey CSA we'll make slave owning legal with this amendment, the President even signed it, so just sign on and you can keep your slaves.
>CSA: Fuck off, that's not why we're seceding
>People still think it was over slavery
>>3250657
>dixie niggers still buttmad
Seems like it's high time for another march to the sea.
>>3250672
Not an argument, so you admit the war was not about slavery?
>literally write the preservation of slavery into every CSA state constitution
>not about slavery
There may have been other points of contention, but the Civil War was definitely about slavery.
>Germany could have won if they invaded Russia a couple months earlier
1 Tiger= n Sherman/T-34
>>3250193
>American tanks were shit. The only losses of the INVINCIBLE Tigers and Panthers on the Western Front were due to overwhelming Allied airpower.
>Russia and the UK commited just as much war crimes as the Germans
Why do Americans treat their constitution like some infallible holy book? You don't see that with other nations, they realize that law can always be changed and that the laws created 250 years ago may not suit the modern times.
Similarly, you hear Americans unironically say
>what would the founding fathers say about that?
Where does this personality worship come from? Every nation has its national heroes but they don't pretent they're still relevant.
thats the only thing they contributed to human development, the constitution is somewhat unique and point forward unlike their entire non nation of backwardness
>>3246302
The constitution is written in a way that encompasses modern things. The only people that are against want to control people's personal lives
What is /his/ opinion of EU4? I love it, but am still getting some mechanics of the game and learning more about it, even after almost 100+ hours of gameplay.
I don't like the mana system being tied into everything
>>3244669
I prefer ck2 more because it's more fair and playable. Both Eu3 and eu4 were too complicated and I got BTFO in every single game file I started like when I played as Pisa and worked up to declare war on urbino but unexpectedly got destroyed by Bohemia which unexpectedly marched its army across Europe into Italy just to destroy me.
>>3244669
one of the most casual historical grand strategy games ever. it is very accessible to new players relatively speaking, has lots of "legal" exploits regarding the AI and warfare, and once you've played a game in every continent the novelty wears off as unique country ideas aren't enough to create a difference. it does not favor building tall, due to how development mechanics work, and it is very easy to stabilize conquered lands meaning the map just becomes giant blobs of ahistorical color.
that being said, if I wanted something historical an indepth I would probably play something more autistic like vicky or ck2. eu4 is an alright game. the base game isnt' very interesting anymore for me, so I mostly play extended timeline, and maybe someday I'll feel up to trying out MEIOU
>be a great ruler/conqueror
>your heirs are shit
Is this the great tragedy of men?
>>3243113
Nah.
So long as you build a working state. As opposed to the -id Empires the likes of Steppeniggers like to build that collapses after the death of the genius founder because it is heavily reliant on a stronkman.
>>3243113
It's easy, orchestrate your own family's fall to the most capable man you can find to rule your country
>>3243113
His heirs were shit, because he didn't support them. He could have negotiated to have Jaime been released from the kingsguard, thus securing himself an heir. He could have supported his dwarf sons lust for political prowess and intrigoues by sending him to the citadel to study, instead he publicly humiliated them his whole life to the point where the little man just couldn't take it and killed him. He considered his daughter to be a whore in service of his interest, and this is the only thing he did good and the only thing that kept his family in power.
Just for a bunch of stupid yellow rocks?
Because their sacrificing houses smelled worse than the slaughterhouses of castille.
Inside those temples boys were tortured, raped, ripped open, and their flesh consumed by pedophiles.
Were you a humble christian and you would do the same.
"Witches" were a joke compared to these sodomite jungleniggers.
>>3241740
Because its so shinny
>>3241740
The Spanish did not destroy anything, they only created and brought civilization to the unenlightened and backwards peoples of the new world.
Made a thread a few months ago, but I've made more charts since so I'll proceed to dump it all here for people to save. Will also post other people's charts I've seen like pic related
