Sargon of Akkad is a pretty popular king, there are a few surviving stories and such, he is one of few leaders there and then we actually know about.

This is more of a philosophy question I suppose but I couldn't really think of a more appropriate board to ask this question / start a discussion.
I've read and am yet to find a consensus and wonder if I am missing something, some sources claim that when you die you enter soul sleep until you are resurrected on the return of the messiah, others state that we go immediately to heaven.
Both sides seem to use various passages in the bible to justify their view and I am leaning towards the option where we immediately go to heaven but am wondering what is the catholic / orthodox consensus on this issue? It seems the evangelical side are the people who state that we enter soul sleep.
Can someone who has an educational background in this give me a clearer answer? I am not after personal views I am after consensus.

I'm just asking a simple question that should have a pretty clear answer but it doesn't seem to.

>capital has been accumulating here since 3000 BC
>still poor
What went wrong?

I'm no expert, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the region you are referencing has gone through significant socioeconomic and political ups and downs throughout recorded human history. So when you say
>still poor
I dont know what the fuck you're talking about. Take your shit thread somewhere else.

Syria also used German tanks up to the 50's and 60's
>The last appearance by WWII German tanks on the world’s battlefields came in 1967, when Syria’s panzer force faced off against modern Israeli armor. Quite improbably, Syria had assembled it’s collection of ex-Wehrmacht vehicles from a half-dozen sources over a decade and a half timeframe.
How does /his/ feel about this show? As with any tv show it takes artistic liberties and isn't always acurate to the times

It's a poor man's Boardwalk Empire. I mean I don't hate it, but I literally only watched all of the seasons due to Boardwalk withdrawal. Also I have a funny story about this show
>Be American
>watching this show's first season
>Mom walks in
>Gives me my tea
>"Are you watching a foreign film?"
>"No it's just a show"
>She stands there for a couple seconds
>"What language are they speaking?"
>lol
>"English, they just have crazy thick accents."
>about an hour later
>Still watching
>Dad comes in and sits down
>He was born in Scotland and both of my Grandparents on his side have thick Glaswegian accents
>"What language are they speaking?"

While a good show that frankly lost a bit steam in the last season, I don't really think that it ever had the ambition of being the show about interwar Britain.

Tell me about the short Polish-Lithuanian occupation of Moscow /his/. I can't find much about it online.
How were the Russians treated? Why did Poles and Lithuanians let go of it so easily?

Is Chinese philosphy worth diving into? Does it answer any logical or existential questions that have yet to be answered by Western philosophers, or is it mostly stuff about how to live everyday life?
>>3243774
Philosophy about how to live everyday life is more important than philosophy about logical or existential questions. Marcus Aurelius agreed, don't bother him about it.

Chinese texts from Spring & Autumn/Warring States period are worth reading.
I would say that Hellenic & Chinese texts represent the highpoint in many areas. I don't know what topics interest you, though.
The Hellenes give a better account of metaphysics and abstract morality, if that's what you're looking for. I haven't spent much time on the Chinese logic texts from this period, but what remains is short enough that you could easily review it.
Did Poland win any battles during the invasion in(s) in 1939?
Don't get me wrong, they fought bravely and inflicted a surprising amount of casualties given what they had, but were they able to say they won any individual battle?

Beat me to it. I remember Mokra at least. There's still at least a couple veterans left which would make them veterans of earliest battles of WWII.
Also some general who later fought with the Allies had to break through either Soviet or German armies which was incredibly badass.

I'm not talking about just here, it's everywhere. Hell, look at any YouTube video about the Holocaust, it's nothing but Holocaust denial
Genuine lovers of history always have a love for the classics, and of course their religion.
People like this have spent years obsessing over the primary sources, looking for sacred texts and poems to satisfy that knowledge for this subject. And as we do, we want to actually talk to people about it.
I was pretty fucking angry about the pagan community on /pol/. They literally knew nothing about the ancient mythology and pagans, they've read nothing, they performed no rituals, and they can't even read the original language. They were David Duke style racial opportunists who twist these ancient religions and misrepresent them to support their political agenda. They're no better than templarpers.
What I want is an actual pagan community where we can talk about this subject. We can have people from /his/, /lit/, /x/ and hell, even /out/ and /an/ to take part.
You think we can do this, /his/? Should I try to create a cohesive community using various platforms for this?
What would be the goal, just to chat?

>>3262555
Overrated thanks to his tragic death. When you look at his actual Presidency he was kind of a fuck up. The Cuban Missile Crisis was pretty much his fault. Domestically he made a lot of promises but he didn't actually do very much to make good on them. LBJ was the guy that actually made good on most of his lofty promises. Reminds me of Obama, good intentions and charismatic but lacked the experience and grit to actually get shit done.
