Is there anywhere I can find a full transcript of Danton's final speech where he attacks Robespierre? I believe it took place shortly before his death in April 1794.

Seriously...?
Is it actually possible to reach a point where you are genuinely calm about life? I was reading stoic material, and the big point I got out of it is that you take things as they come and don't get upset over petty things. I just find it hard to imagine being like this, for example even breaking a mug by accident would make you feel bad and annoyed
How did they do it?
>>3274900
I'm so calm right now, I'm neglecting my duties and obligations. It's ok though, everything will turn out alright.
They did it by knowing that life is perceptiveness.
Their perception was that things are how they are, we can't change them, is beyond our control. If we can't change them, why get upset?
I think so. It's a spectrum. On one end, everything pisses you off. Mugs breaking, plans getting rained out, running out of instant coffee, etc. On the other end is not getting upset at all with anything. You only get upset when you dont get something you want. And if you realize that those things arent worth truly desiring you don't bat an eyelid. I think. Its certainly hard to get to that point
>I have come to bring a sword
>doesn't bring sword
So where's the sword xtards?
failedprophecy.jpg
Wew xtianity btfo.
How will they ever recover from this?
>>3274809
He DID bring a sword, he was a wannabe Messiah, a war-leader of the Jews, this whole "NUH-UH HE WAS OF PEACE" is a later fabrication to explain his complete failure to achieve what was expected of a Messiah.
He did have a sword; he had them buy it. It's the one Peter used to cut off the Legionnaire's ear.
He didn't intend to use it, but he had it
>>3274825
>Had one sword
>He was a Revolutionary
Stupid
Is there a historical reason why we don`t use Gorillas in gorilla warfare
>>3274648
Gorillas are bad at following orders.
>>3274648
Cause humans are much easier to train, and occasionally smarter.
Because they would it too much bananas
Had the French any chanve to win the Italian Wars? Would a French victory have more personal unions on the Italian peninsula as a consequence? Even a French dominance?
they can but why would you want those treacherous frogs to?
Yamna culture
>R1b
>dark pigmented
Corded Ware culture
>R1a
>Over 80% Yamna admixture
>light pigmented
How could this happen, /his/? Asking about both the haplogroups and pigmentation.
What makes you say yamna were dark pigmented?
>>3274404
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamna_culture#Physical_characteristics
>they were genetically tall (phenotypic height is determined by both genetics and environmental factors), overwhelmingly dark-eyed (brown), dark-haired and had a skin colour that was moderately light, though somewhat darker than that of the average modern European

Why is it that the people from the Horn of Africa have this unique blend of caucasoid and negroid traits? Do they share recent ancestors with Europeans?
>>3274317
>Do they share recent ancestors with Europeans?
More like with Jews, Arabs and other Middle Eastern Semites.
>why do these people who live next to both black people and white people look like a mix between black people and white people
Jesus Christ what a mystery.

But they look nothing like Brazilians.
I recently watched this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQHBAdShgYI) video by CGP Grey, where he asserts that the only reason that the teletransporter really frightens us is the continuity of consciousness.
However, this same criterion applies to general anaesthetic and sleep. If that's the case, then unfortunately sleep abrogates the criterion we have for personal continuity, and so kills us. I recognise Parfit claims that this "doesn't matter", but I don't see my own permanent death as something that "doesn't matter". If anything, it is of utmost importance. Why bother planning for a future I won't exist in? Please just for the purposes of this assume consciousness is what matters.
This (http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1049286) CNN article presents the idea concisely, as does this (http://existentialcomics.com/comic/1) comic
I've been having sleepless nights lately, so I just want to see if any philosopher has addressed the continuity of consciousness as the primary component of identity **specifically**.
>>3274313
When you sleep your awareness doesn't cease just because you're not consciously observing the outside world, your brain is still processing information and in many cases you experience dreams.
Nothing is lost through sleep besides useless memories that aren't important enough to make the trip from short-term memory to long-term memory, don't worry anon, you're not dying every night, if suicide where that easy I'd probably sleep a lot more.
>>3274313
Your brain still works even under general anesthesia
Why did the language of the Anglo-Saxon invaders wipe out Latin in Britain while the language of the Franks made basically no impact on the Latin of Gaul?
it didn't
good chunk of English is derived from Latin words
>>3274380
That's post 1066, old English had very few Latinate words
>>3274380
The only Latin words that were in Old English were borrowed into Proto-Germanic on the continent or with Christianity 200 years after the invasion.
Why did the Belgian Revolution happen?
>>3274249
Too many reruns of the Portici show.
>>3274249
"Belgians" don't exist, so how could "they" have a revolution?
>>3275010
Belgae has existed since antiquity, stop with the /pol/ memes.

is Alain de Botton the most intelligent man in history? He seems to understand every philosopher and historical even with a depth unparalleled in history.
>>3274220
de Botton wouldn't kill.
>>3274220
>He seems to understand every philosopher and historical even with a depth unparalleled in history.
I thought that was John Green
Why didn't people in the middle ages understand perspective?

Christianity
Considering they were all doing it I always assume it was a stylistic choice.
People back then were borderline retarded and largely illiterate.
Is this shit any good?
I have an upcoming history exam thats gonna largely cover world history 1750-1945, but its in norway, so its probably gonna be euro-centric, particularly concerning scandinavia
