If the germanic barbarians were the ones who invented quantum physics and general relativity just 2000 years after getting in touch with civilization, what will come out of sub-saharan Africa 2000 years from now?

So what was life like in Seljuk Sultanate of Rum?
Well, pretty hard to tell actually.
There were 3 common types of people in Rum Seljuk; nomads, peasants and soldiers. Other were nobles and clergy. Turkmens initially settled in Central Anatolia because it's a huge steppe, they later went on and settled in Eastern and Western Anatolia. Apart from that, we struggled with crusaders (even though they always got btfo, they once managed to sack Seljuk capital) and Byzantines. Byzantines were utterly crushed at Myriokephalon, however, 2 or 4 years later a large Turkish army was almost destroyed by Byzantines while pillaging a Greek city in Western Anatolia. Apart from that, Alevis chimped out in Eastern Anatolia and they got btfo, however, Seljuks later on got btfo by Mongols and Turkish warlords later started a guerilla warfare against Mongols in Central Anatolia. Also because of Mongol invasion, new Turkmen immigrants, including the tribe of Ottomans, came to Anatolia and mostly settled in Western Anatolia.
Economic situation was OK, there were caravanserais and trade made some people rich. Jizya tax kept Seljuk state rich etc.
>>3301714
But nomads in Seljuk state often caused lots of problems, they often raided caravans and pillaged christian villages/cities etc. When i was reading about a small Turkish city's history (Yalova) i learned that Greeks from Phyrgia made up most of the Yalova's population because nomads kept raiding and pillaging their cities. The Greeks in Yalova later on escaped to Greece and Prince Islands

How do you deal with the bouts of depression that studying history causes?
>Almost every "story" in history has a bad ending
>History is constantly unfair, with few rarely getting what they deserve
>For all of human history, including today, the majority of humanity is not living a pleasant life
>>3301667
It's all about judging history in your own view. Do you think the majority of history has a bad ending? To me, I think it's a balance between fair and unfair with most things in it. But, I do agree with you that humans aren't living the greatest lives that they possibly could be.
Because if that were the case, it'd be the Wild West or the Renaissance all over again. But it isn't, for we live in this gay, boring consumerist age where you work, pay, taxes, and then die.
That's no way for Man to live. That's no way for anything to live. I would trade this life to go back into the past if it meant not living in this postmodernist shithole, I really would.
One most embrace the beauty of tragedy, of the noble loss
>>3301683
>Do you think the majority of history has a bad ending?
I think History is mostly bad endings, but that each of these bad endings are all also good endings to someone else.
The conquests by the Mongols were the greatest bad endings to millions, but to the Mongols, it is their greatest golden age
Will western culture abandon irony and return to sincerity? Should it?
How do you feel about the many layers of irony that everything operates on these days, to the point where any sincerity is seen as irony that the listener doesn't get?
>>3301578
What's wrong with this picture?
>>3301578
It bothers me alot, even though I partake all the time. I think it's a sign of nihilism and confusion, the consequences of a society where truth is subjective.
That being said, there's bound to be a reaction- we just have to wait for the collapse of western civilization.
>>3301578
The internet is mostly responsible for this. There's only one solution, censor the internet.
If greeks are the same as ancient greeks, lebanese are the same as phoenicians, and italians are genetically the same as romans, does bulgarians just thracians and serbs illyrians?
>>3301541
>Italians are the same as Romans genetically
[Citation needed]
No, because despite memes there is a significant Slavic element which was new to Balkans at that time. Serbs and Bulgarians weren't the first Slavs to invade Balkans.
However yes, both are mostly native, but neither Serbs nor Bulgarians consider themselves Illyrians or Thracians, they consider themselves to be Slavs.
I'd say culture and sentiment matters more than genetics.
>>3301541
>and italians are genetically the same as romans
LOL NO
Even during Rome existance Historians claimed that there were barely any pure Roman left
Italians are mostly of Syrian and North African descents

Temperate climate = wealth
Tropic climate = hell on Earth
Why did arid regions become so successful in ancient times? Is their archeological evidence for a different climate at the time (I've briefly heard about evidence for the Sphinx having signs of rain damage) or is that level of civilisation pre-industry easier to establish in such an environment?

Why do people act as if Operation Barbarossa wasn't in reaction to the massive threat of the Soviet state invading Western Europe? Obviously it didn't go well, but the clear threat of the Soviet colossus makes his actions understandable, no? I'm not asking anyone on this board to love Hitler, but why do people pretend that the Soviets weren't an incredibly dangerous threat to Western Europe?
>i punched this guy because he looked like he can start throwing punches any minute now
the USSR wanted Moldova, maybe the balkans and maybe parts of Poland, but invading western Europe? thats just stromfag fantasy, what the USSR was interested in is to export the revolution to the west, but even communists saw that its just russian imperialsm after backstabbing poland
it was not a preemptive strike, it was the biggest gamble shitler took for lebensraum, resources and wealth
>>3301213
That's fucking retarded like all other Nazi apologism that's been plaguing this board lately. Nazis had terrible intelligence and seriously underestimated power of Soviets, that's why he launched the assault. There is little reason to think Hitler through of Stalin as a serious threat.
>reaction to the massive threat of the Soviet state invading Western Europe
Stalin only ever invaded Eastern Europe, western Europe was out of his reach ever since the post-war revolutions failed.

Prove to me Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet.
The majority of human history is filled with bad stuff like brutality, suffering, war, pain, and genocide. However, in the developed world for the past 80 years, things have been mostly OK compared to previous times. Is it possible that the developed world will return to the historical norm? Because that would suck ass.
>>3301148
>brutality, suffering, war, pain, and genocide
That stuff is cool like a Black Metal album or a religious text like the Bible or Quran. I hope so that would be fucken metal.
>>3301148
The world as a whole is becoming less brutal every generation. Sure if the current structure was to fail the power vacuum would cause some conflicts but I personally don't see us devolving into a world wide panic of third world war lords genociding one another.
Yes, if anything it is inevitable and as we depend more and more on technology we are setting ourselves up for one of the biggest collapses in history which will make China's apocalypses look like a cake walk.

That depends, can you slow down enough in that plane to actually shoot someone?

This plane was supposed to be developed early in war.If Hitler waited 3 more years to start the storm,Germany would be much better.
