What was the best form of government Rome had?
the Kingdom
the Republic
the early Empire (Principate)
later Empire (Dominate)
Tetrarchy
or whatever the fuck I missed

>>
early republic due to having a rule of law that people took seriously
>>
The Republic was the most influential to our modern governments because scholars looked back to the Republic during the enlightenment to model their governments. The empire was more influential to the kingdoms that followed it.

In the days of Cato the Elder, the senate was efficient since it did not rule over a ridiculously large amount of Land.

In the days of Cato the Younger, the senate was becoming inefficient and could not effectively control its provinces like it used to, nor could the senators control themselves. Cato the Younger is famous in part due to the fact that he would never take a bribe - something phenomenal in Roman politics at the time.

Who fucked up China the most? The Qing Dynasty or People's Republic of China

The Qing because they started from a position of relative strength and wasted all of it.

The PRC started from absolute shambles, made it worse, then started making it better.

The ideal scenario for China would have been a revolution from above led by a competent KMT leader (not Just My Shek) leading the entire cohort of Whampoa that had been split into CCP/KMT.

Mao by a factor of a million. The only thing that comes close to the devastation of the Cultural Revolution would be the time an Emperor ordered all ancient texts to be burned.

>I, Ulfila, bishop and confessor, have always so believed, and in this, the one true faith, I make the journey to my Lord; I believe in only one God the Father, the unbegotten and invisible, and in his only-begotten son, our Lord/Master and God, the designer and maker of all creation, having none other like him. Therefore, there is one God of all, who is also God of our God; and in one Holy Spirit, the illuminating and sanctifying power, as Christ said after his resurrection to his apostles: "And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:49) and again "But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Ghost is come upon you" (Acts 1:8); Neither God nor Lord/Master, but the faithful minister of Christ; not equal, but subject and obedient in all things to the Son. And I believe the Son to be subject and obedient in all things to God the Father

Are there any good and/or easily accessible resources for researching if one has Hanoverian or Hessian military roots? I've tried to simply search such things, but've had difficulty finding anything that seemed substantive or legitimate.

sorry misread your question, thought you were asking about the roots of the hessian army, not family roots, guess you have to track back your family tree, if you want to be 100% sure about it

In a lecture on the Stuart's the other day my proffesor said the growth of the London stock exchange was vital to British imperialism as it allowed them to fund proxy wars between buffer states and their rivals. He then went on to mention many of England's rivals fiananced their own armies by money gained from playing on the London stock market.
My question is how did people get away with this without being executed for treason, as surely it was an englishmen who sold these shares to a Frenchman for example

You know how /pol/ likes to blame everything on the Jews?

Well, in reality everything can be blamed on bankers and financiers, including many acts of treason throughout history. Thanks to the quirks of Medieval Europe, many bankers and financiers wound up being Jews. So /pol/'s not exactly right, but they've picked up a scent that actually leads somewhere.

>>

Not much. The critical factor is ratio of force, not where the line happens to be at any given point. The U.S. expanded from Tarawa to the Marshalls to the Marianas to the Bonins in a year and a halfish, scything right through everything the Japanese had taken.

Better question would be when did Europe start to lost its cultural prominence over the world?

Answer is when the Americans started producing culture for themselves and the entire world. Unlike Europe, which would have two brutal wars, America prospered.

In recent years though, American culture is slowly falling in dominance as well. Which is inevitable as enormous countries such as India, China start to export their culture as well. Add to that list Turkey, Iran, Brazil and Europe is done.

lol no its not. economically we might be challenged, but we've exported our culture to unprecedented levels.

This is something I've seen many people repeat, but I can't find a good source that backs this up. I've googled "Tesla Time Machine" and the top results are all borderline conspiracy sites. They all share the same story: In 1895, Tesla was found in a coffee shop, recovering from an electric shock delivered by one of his machines. Tesla then says, "I could see the past, present, and future all at the same time."

But of course there's no evidence (I could find) that story or quote ever took place. I have no idea how it even originated.

Is there any evidence Tesla wanted to make a time machine?

Given he was into weird science it's possible he wanted to make one. But that is very different than "oh he totally made one and saw it all".

He's the most modern version we have of a mad scientist which makes him rife for people making up legends about him.
>>
>>2497122
Yeah, it's very probable that he wanted to make one, but where is the historical evidence that shows he did? Where did he say he's interested in experimenting with time and space?
