What is it that makes ancient developed civilizations so fucking fascinating?
Our modern world, though great, seems to lack the quintessence the ancients had.
What is it?

Sensuousness.
Partly rose-colored retrospection, partly the fact that the successful ones managed to have outsized influence on later cultures because everything was newer.

Considering the heavy influence that Evangelicals have played in the politics of not only the Republican Party/conservative movement, but also the greater United States, as well as increased immigration from Latin America, that would result in a United States that is much more socially conservative than it is today?
More broadly, it seems like conservative sects of Christianity, especially "Evangelicalism" (whatever this term means, it just gets used a lot here in the US to describe right wing Christians but I've never understood the actual theological meaning behind it), are growing whereas more liberal sects are dying out.
With the combination of this growth in conservative Christian sects (i.e. Evangelicalism/Catholicism), could we see something along the lines of a Third Great Awakening anytime in the United States too?

It's all an act.

Only strict Catholics vote overwhelmingly republican--that is to say a very small group of Catholics, maybe 10 or 20 percent. The rest vote mixed with slight edge to democrats. Mexican Catholics tend to vote democrat

Trump would appoint conservative judges. He was a bit soft on LGBT issues, but he campaigned on a pro-life platform. Compared to the alternatives, I don't blame conservative Christians for voting for him.
Newfag here. I'm not too good on WW1 history, but I wanted to ask a question.
Why did the Allied forces blame Germany for WW1 if it was Austria-Hungary that declared war on Serbia? Was Germany more aggressive?
wew, you'll get some contention with q's like that but here goes. Austria-Hungary whilst starting the war didnt really do much to piss off the major entente powers, they invaded Serbia and Italy and mugged off Russia (or tried) but by the time peace was signed they had collapsed (along with Russia so no harsh Russian treaties) meanwhile Germany had set up shop in Northern France for 4 years and were still fighting in 1918 even if it was in a reduced capacity. As Western Allies made the peace they wanted more revenge against their primary foe, also Austria's great power status was already fucked beyond repair so no point mocking them even more. Also Germans promised a blank cheque to Austria regarding Serbia which doubtless encouraged Austria as the Austrians wouldnt have taken on Serbia alone knowing that Russia would get involved. Hope this helped, its alot more complicated than it seems but tried to keep it as simple as possible.

Anon's also correct, Anne Frank outplayed the Germans in shifting war blame in 1918 from Austria-Hungary to the German Empire, I forgot that fundamental point m'bad

All great civilizations were "mutts". I don't get why Americans are in denial about this.
The memers are always going about "we were kangz" but if you ignore the black POV and you go general. Egyptians were mutts. Mediterraneans were mutts.
They were mixed men...
So.. where does this fetish about white purity comes from?

WW2 wasen't really a world war. it was just two wars on the different sides of the Euroasian continent that just happend to happen simultaneously.
It involved all the countries that mattered. Plus Africa.

What a retard. There were way more simultaneous wars going on at the same time.

French revanchism: Myth or reality?
And if real, how accurate are the Germans to say that it contributed to France joining WW1 and being so harsh at Versailles?
Bit of a silly notion.
I might concede that there was an outburst of revanchism expressed against Germany when the country was first beaten, and that the Republicans were eager to divert the interest of the population towards the colonial expeditions, away from and to the detriment of the "ligne bleue des Vosges" (the line bordering them with Germany), as a way to ease down revanchism. Also a French general in the whereabouts of the 1890s had been scorned by the Republic, and attempted to overthrow the government, pretexting that he would start a war with Germany when in power to draw to him the support of the French.
But by WWI, it had subsided, and only Action Française, a political power aggregating about only 5% of the country's votes was vanguarding revanchism. Where France slightly contributed to heightening tensions was that they refused to state that they could relinquish their support for Russia in a defensive war, which they had had to do in the Bosnian crisis to maintain the peace, but then the Germans prohibited that France stay out of the war by requisitioning that the ring of defensive French forts be occupied by German forces were that to happen.
Regardless, WWI rigthfully rekindled revanchism within France, and France approached the negotiations as a country right to be wary as some had suffered from German agressive militarism twice in their lives now (including Clemenceau, a small boy in the Franco-Prussian war).
>>2510374
>And if real, how accurate are the Germans to say that it contributed to France joining WW1
Not at all given that France only got involved in WW1 when Germany attacked them
France made many efforts to avoid provoking Germany (like withdrawing their army 10kms away from the border which enabled Germans to raid a French village and kill a Frenchman before the war was declared), but they couldnt give in to the most bullshit German demands (like surrendering all their fortresses), so the Germans attacked
Now, while it's true that French Revanchism was very low in the early 1910s, the German declaration of war ressurected it, and it kept growing stronger as the war went on
So I guess that it kinda played a role in Versailles (although Versailles was far from as harsh as some claim).
Of course it's not a myth, the French were butthurt as fuck. Maps from the time showed Alsace-Lorraine as part of France, just greyed out. The semi-official book used to teach kids how to read from 1877 to 1914 was basically just revanchist propaganda. Newspaper had anti-German articles every week. Go look at the illustrated covers of "Le Petit Journal", the most popular newspaper at the time, you'll see what I mean.
The far left and the far right were obsessed with it, and opposed colonial ventures because of it, though usually when they got to power they were low key about it. Gambetta said about "la ligne bleue des Vosges": "always think about it, never talk about it".
So war was always in the back of their mind, though I don't think it particularly contributed to them joining WW1. They were dragged into it. Probably had an influence on the Versailles treaty, though, especially considering how harsh the Germans were after the Franco-Prussian war.
