Does anyone else feel like they'd genuinely enjoy being part of a mass movement?
The pageantry and spectacle, the sense of purpose and being part of something greater than yourself, the community, the feeling of invincibility. You look back at these rallys in Germany and Russia and understand why it was so seductive.

What made the Duke of Marlborough a particularly great commander?
People talk about him like he is on the level of Napoleon or Caesar or something.
Is it just Britibongs obsessing over their only semi relevant commander?
Or was he really that good?
And if so, why?
As far as I can see he had one great battle (Blenheim), that was won pretty much entirely because of the bravery of Eugene and the resolve of his men
He won some battles, but failed miserably at the battle of Malplaquet. But when the french retire themselves to better defensive positions, the englishs said they won. English lost 20-25 000 men while french lost 5 000.
The marechal of Villars said to king louis XIV: with 4 or 5 defeats like that we will destroy our enemies

>What made the Duke of Marlborough a particularly great commander?
The fact the coalition he fought for gave him Dutch and German troops so he wouldnt have to put up with shitty British redcoats
>>2560619
Were British redcoats considered particularly bad soldiers at the time?
>Being Gilgamesh, minding my own business with my special bro Enkidu. The goddes Ishtar comes along. She wants my D.
>I say: Chill out. You screwed over all your previous lovers. Not sticking my dick in crazy.
>Bitch goes crying to his father. At first he's like "but he's right, you know".
>But he can't stand the crying and caves in. Sends on Earth a werebull to make a big mess and to kill me and my bro.
>The werebull makes a big mess killing hundreds with one hove powerattack. Enkidu tryes to stop him. Werebull waves his tail and covers bro with shit.
>Damn it, Enkidu, keep it together. We use tactics (two against one) and get the better of it. We kill werebull, brofist!
>Bitch Ishtar starts yelling at us, that it was completely uncool to kill her demon.
>Enkidu, my man, rips off the werebull's dick and throws it into her face.
How can Epic of Gilgamesh be so epic? Existentialism, humour, humanism. Them YHWH worshipping scribes were primitive barbarians and plagiarists.
I used to think culture and philosophy needed time to develop and Old Testament was a step forward.
But the Jews were just savage sheepfuckers. No sense of humour, no distance to themselves. They shouldn't have learned to write.
Fall of Babylon was dark ages before middle ages.

Why is the Chinese-Japanese aspect of WW2 so overlooked in media?
It was the second bloodiest theater, but some people I've spoken with didn't even know China was in ww2. What gives? And why is there such little data about it in comparison to other theaters?
Cuz China got eternally BTFO so nothing interesting really happened
Because America didn't very much there, and it lacked the exciting battles of the Eastern Front.

You are teleported back in time into the body of Mao Zedong in 1943. Your mission is to accomplish industrialization and agrarian reform without the disastrous effects of The Great Leap but at the same time consistently following Maoist thought and having the nation still decidedly resemble a communist one.

What were crime and murder rates like at any given point in Medieval Europe?
I read somewhere that they were roughly Detroit-ish when it comes to homicide, give or take 10/100k

It's not strictly murders but
I recall during the Hundred Years War that displaced soldiers resorted to brigandage and ran amok in the countryside looting anything they coould.
Apparently that plus the plague meant that entire villages were abandoned and harvests were not maintained due to manpower shortages.
On the flip side such a decimation of the population meant that metal coinage was more valuable because there were more fortunes to be split among less human beings.

I often hear that Jung is a joke, and that he introduced all sorts of mysticism and other bullcrap into psychology
Can anyone expand on that?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unibrow#Ancient_Greece_and_Rome
>In both Ancient Greek and Roman cultures, unibrows were prized as beautiful, desirable features worn by the most intelligent and lusted-after women.[3] In Ancient Greece, women used powdered minerals or soot to paint their brows black. The Greeks valued purity, so women often left their unibrows untouched or darkened slightly with black powder. Eyebrows were also part of the Romans' elaborate beauty rituals, and like the Greeks, they favored a unibrow. Both cultures' poets and writers described women donning false unibrows to enhance their looks. These were made of dyed goat's hair and attached with tree resin.
How much did this change your perception of these civilizations?
None at all as I don't expect ancient civilizations to share the same concept of beauty as America circa 2017.
