Soviet Storm: WW2 in the East seems like a good one from what I've seen so far. It tells the story from the Russian perspective and it gives good explanations about how and why each event happened. I still have to finish it myself though.

It wasn't very different in the 2nd century AD from the 1st century BC. The Crisis of the Third Century is where things massively shifted. A Roman of the 2nd century meeting one from the late 4th would be very surprised. He would be a Christian, trouser wearing, hat wearing person.

Fuck. I don't know why but this actually hurt a little. I've read the book and was used to the idea that we know everything about the story and now 70 years years later the version changed again.

In society it seems as though Hitler is the worst of the worst, way worse than Stalin, Mao or Leupold yet Mao and Stalin killed way more people. The only reasoning behind this is because of the fact that Nazism had racist elements that directly resulted in the deaths of people where most other dictators killed based off of political elements.
