Would you step into a Star Trek teleporter?
The teleporters in Star Trek work by scanning you, then disintegrating you, and then (or meanwhile?) creating a being based on the scan using completely different materia elsewhere.
Also, in a society where those "teleporters" existed and became commonly used, would it be morally permissible to demand of public officials such as politicians and police officers to use them to conduct their work more efficiently?
Would it be morally obligatory for them to use them?

So we always hear that the Nazis/fascists were the aggressors in places like Weimar Germany and interwar Italy, before they took power, getting in streetbrawls with communists and the like. Is there literally any truth to them being aggressors? If anything it makes sense that communists would begin attacking them. Fascism appealed to nationalism and conservative social policy combined with socialism, while communism had the right economic policy but was insane and neurotic ideologically. Naturally this meant fascists were encroaching on what the communists viewed as their demographical base, and needed to try put down a growing rival.

Mississippian here, born and raised all my life. Today I had a conversation with my father and I learned that a great deal of my family played a role in the American Civil War. Lately I have been thinking about the state of the American South today, how Mississippi is basically a wasteland. Mississippi is a state that lost a war, and when you visit MS you really get that feeling.
Anyway, does anyone have any good book recommendations on the antebellum South/Civil War? Something which can give me a more clear view of my ancestor's history. And preferably something which doesnt spend too much time on muh slaves. Yes slavery plaid a major role in the political tensions of the late 1800s, but I have had that shit pushed onto me for so fucking long. I want to read a book which balances the positive aspects of the south with the negative, because quite frankly I find antebellum culture to be beautiful.
