Why isn't the struggle of Europeans to expand their empires into Africa seen as heroic? Besides Belgium the colonial experience was pretty two-sided and beneficial to both sides.

Even the Congo has been greatly exaggerated.

>wow I'm sure this non-academic site which claims that first world populations have genetics predisposed towards "first world values" and which promotes "alternative views" on race and diversity will not try to minimize the deaths in the Belgian co-
o wait

With some of the points raised;
If 1 million or 10 million people died, it would still be ranked as a horrible humanitarian disaster and would still discredit colonialism.
His argument that each Force Publique soldiers had to kill 200 people is fairly nonsense, it isn't like they had to shoot everyone, just disrupting agriculture and commercial life is easily enough to spark famines and epidemics.
The argument over African agency in this case is fairly irrelevant, as those were Force Publique soldiers, it was the existence of European colonialism that enabled them to engage in such actions. Colonialism is not just focusing on the actions of the whites involved but the effects on society as a whole.
The Belgian commission of 1919 and Charles C. Liebrechts, a high official in the Congo Free state, both estimated that half the population died. The "alternative hypothesis" put forward doesn't do anything to counter that, at most the numbers can be altered, but the relative suffering and misery on the populace is unchallenged.

This doesn't do much to counter the Belgian Congo, at most it can be possibly (I'm sure there are other demographic researches into the Belgian Congo population) claimed that the extensiveness scale is off, while intensively it rests the same.

In 1809, Napoleon and his troops occupied Vienna. On October 12 of that year, a German university student named Friedrich Staps attempted to assassinate Napoleon during a military parade at Schönbrunn Palace. Staps approached Napoleon on the pretense of presenting him with a petition. General Rapp became suspicious of the young man, whose right hand was thrust into a pocket under his coat. Staps was arrested and found to be carrying a large carving knife. When Rapp asked whether he had planned to assassinate Napoleon, Staps answered in the affirmative.

Napoleon wanted to speak to Staps directly, so the prisoner was brought to the Emperor’s office with his hands tied behind his back. Using Rapp as an interpreter, Napoleon asked Staps a series of questions.

>‘Where were you born?’ – ‘In Naumburgh.’

>‘What is your father?’ – ‘A Protestant minister.’

>‘How old are you?’ – ‘I am eighteen years of age.’

>‘What did you intend to do with the knife?’ – ‘To kill you.’

>‘You are mad, young man; you are an illuminato.’ – ‘I am not mad; and I know not what is meant by an illuminato.’

>‘You are sick, then.’ – ‘I am not sick; on the contrary, I am in good health.’

>‘Why did you wish to assassinate me?’ – ‘Because you have caused the misfortunes of my country.’

>‘Have I done you any harm?’ – ‘You have done harm to me as well as to all Germans.’

>‘By whom were you sent? Who instigated you to this crime?’ – ‘Nobody. I determined to take your life from the conviction that I should thereby render the highest service to my country and to Europe.’ …

>‘I tell you, you are either mad or sick.’ – ‘Neither the one nor the other.’ (12)

After a doctor examined Staps and pronounced him in good health, Napoleon offered the young man a chance for clemency.

>‘You are a wild enthusiast,’ said he; ‘you will ruin your family. I am willing to grant your life, if you ask pardon for the crime which you intended to commit, and for which you ought to be sorry.’ – ‘I want no pardon,’ replied Staps, ‘I feel the deepest regret for not having executed my design.’ ‘You seem to think very lightly of the commission of a crime!’ – ‘To kill you would not have been a crime but a duty.’ … ‘Would you not be grateful were I to pardon you?’ – ‘I would notwithstanding seize the first opportunity of taking your life.’ (13)

Staps was executed by a firing squad on October 17, 1809. His last words were: “Liberty forever! Germany forever! Death to the tyrant!” (14) Napoleon refers to this assassination attempt when he visits his former police chief Pierre-François Réal in Napoleon in America.

What does "illuminato" mean?

Isn't that the Italian/French word for Illuminati?

Was Napoleon worried about the Illuminati killing him?

Why was Egypt the only place in North Africa with civilization that stretched towards the inland? The rest are just coastal

Was it really a manmade famine? If it was why? Was it really targeted at Ukrainians or did it occur because of a flawed Soviet System? I want to learn more about it so if there are any documentaries, books, etc. anyone can recommend it'd be greatly appreciate it.

Holodomor denial is just as stupid as denying the Holocaust or the various Ottoman genocides (Armenian, Greek, Assyrian, etc.)

Literally all mainstream historian of all political persuasions believe that the Holodomor was a man made genocide.
>>
It was a deliberante famine by Stalin and his jews to kill millions (perhaps tens of millions) of Ukrainians.
>>
>>2578167
Did the Soviet Union purposely target anyone? I've read about how Ukrainians said it was targeted at them but I've also read about millions of Volga Russians, Belarussians, Kazakhs, etc. also dying. Why would the Soviets want to murder 7 million of their own? Was it because of racism? Or getting rid of people who they feel could pose a threat?

No matter what you do, you MUST work.

Even if you decide to fuck off to the mountains and live like a monk in a tent, you still have to catch and prepare food and find potable water, which is what the point of working in society is anyways (earning money for food).

It is man's lot in this life to spend his days supplying for his physical needs. Anything after that is just icing on the cake

He was an artist. His art has value.

Is there some other bullshit metric that is supposed to matter? Did he love his children. Did he make jokes about the the Virgin Mary? Did he masturbate to bizzare German pornography? I don't care.

The music is good.

Of course because this is the modern era we have to judge him out of context and declare that he was a religious fanatic and supporter of the patriarchy who was secretly gay and of course a black ethiopian atheist with an oddly shaped jewish penis who was secretly fighting the church by hiding musical clues in his music for Tom Hanks to discover on his quest for Monty Pythons holy grail. But it doesn't mater because his music was secretly written by an ancient alien who was actually Slavic.

During the years leading up to the Arab conquest of Northern Africa, there was a sharp (ethno?)-religious divide between the Greek-speaking, Chaceldonian portion of the Eastern Roman Empire (Greece, Anatolia) versus the Aramaic/Coptic-speaking, Monophysite portion (Syria, Egypt). Why did this divide occur in a seemingly geographic fashion? How much of this schism was due to cultural reasons?

I think it was a lot due to languages. Coptic clergy spoke Coptic to a Coptic audience. Greek priests had no chance of wining the propaganda war.
>>
>>2577698
Well, the question is then why Coptic clergy were more sympathetic to Monophysitism than the imperial Chalcedonian orthodoxy.
>>
>>2577716
Just happens, some people in the central clergy, like the archbishop, gets it in their head, that jesus is not human. With writings, education of clergy and spreading of the word, soon all of Egypt is Monophysite.
