Anyone know anything about brick's history? A clue about this brick's company is very valious for me, the date of this is a big misteryous.
Sorry for bad english, is not my mother language
Bricks or did not happened
A little background: in 'Haciendas' (Mex) there is places where the old the better. There are somemany of this bricks with inscriptions and other with other inscription like 'ohio'. So there is a fake treasure for tourist or really there was a company that makes bricks in some point of the history that export to Mexico's 'haciendas'?
Made in the 1800s by an American brick making company. Trade likely brought it there.
What do you guys think of him? Any linguists here know if he actually knows his shit or is just a layman who does some research? His videos are pretty insightful to me. Here's an example,

He mostly knows his stuff. If it weren't for his clickbait video titles, it's be a great channel.

For a guy who opens his mouth for a living, he sure does have bad teeth.
Why did the Japanese sweep him under the rug?
Japanese culture is known for under the rug sweeping.
>>2617528
>Why did the Japanese sweep him under the rug?
Because he was such a manlet that it was the easiest option.
In what way? He remains popular in Japan.
Why does Britain own Gibraltar and also why did they own Hong Kong and more importantly why did they give up Hong Kong?
>>2617514
They own Gibraltar because they won a war with Spain and took Gibraltar because it is a strategic location at the entrance to the Mediterranean. They had Hong Kong so that they could sell opium and trade other stuff to the Chinese. Also pic related. They gave of Hong Kong because they only had a lease on the island which ran out.
>>2617514
During the War of the Spanish Succession, Britain and the Netherlands captured it. Spain offered to let Britain keep Gibraltar if they withdrew from the war.
As for Hong Kong, China leased Hong Kong to Britain for 99 years in 1898.
In 1997 the lease expired and they had to hand it over.
>>2617514
Because the contract for Hong Kong ended.
Why did the Greeks go from an archaic style to the realistic classical style?
There is no other culture in history that began making realistic or naturalistic art.
Even the Phoenicians, that lived in city states and colonies just like the Greeks, were making archaic statues until they were destroyed by Rome.
Why? Was it the competitive nature of Greek city states? Was it their redefinition of nudity as civilized? Was it the free debate of democracy that changed their mind?
>>2617472
the archaic style was borrowed from egyptian statuary
eventually i guess they formed their own style
>>2617482
>eventually i guess they formed their own style
Well obviously, my question is why?

>my question is why?
For the same reason any fashion develops.
Because people think it looks cool.
You can clearly see why a more realistic interpretation of the human figure might look cool and be a better display of artistic skill than a more rigid and unrealistic depiction.
What can you tell me about this German helmet? I was given it about 20 years ago and just dug it out my parent's attic. They paid about £10 for it.
Inside it has the code 'NS62' which I know to be the manufacturer and the size. It's bloody tiny so I can't wear it. There's also a code 'D219' at the back.
Mostly I'm wondering if it is really a wartime helmet, and what it might have been used for in life. There isn't any sign of markings and it's completely black. And how much of the liner and strap is likely original?
Here's the interior.
>>2617428
Looks like a traditional 1889 germanic paratrooper helmet. Something like that, with so few damage done to it, is worth at least a few thousand dollars.
Nice find, anon.

Probably around the same time as social welfare programs.
>Handful of British soldiers and sepoy mercenaries defeat the Nawab of Bengal's army which are in the thousands
How the fuck does a joint-stock company thousands of miles away from its home country defeat and conquer a rich and established part of the Mughal Empire? These aren't Stone Age natives that the Spanish had disease to kill off as well as the advantage of steel weapons, armor, and guns, but one of the premier Asian powers (albiet not in its prime) in the mid-1700's.
>handful
It was a whole modern army.
>>2617402
At most, the British had something like 3000 soldiers against tens of thousands of Indian troops. To be fair, Mir Jafar's forces didn't participate in the battle but even then Siraj ud-Daulah had more soldiers and artillery (including French gunners).

>modern army
But hundreds of thousands of young men did not die that day for nothing
Is there anything more fucked up in human history than our corruption of noble wolves into tiny infantilized defenseless joke-creature slaves?

"It may well be that Homo erectus was a true man, but somewhat degenerate in size and culture, possibly because of inbreeding, poor diet and a hostile environment" (Morris 1974).

Was there a historical event that caused other countries to hate Americans? I don't get it, we didn't actually do anything.
No. America hate today is just said because you guys are easy to rile. No historical event still carries weight today except maybe in japan, I guess.
Because they're the current cultural superpower
When France was the cultiral center of Europe, tons of people all over Europe hated the French
The stereotypes from that era "arrogant, impolite...etc" still remain to this day

Hello guys, i need some help.
Some Christian sect? No idea what's up with that ankh.
This shape reminds me of the "Lauburu", a national symbol from the Basque Country, a region of the northern Spain with celtic origins,
But I've never seen this symbol before. What's the source of the picture?
Is the family and society model with polyandric marriages the best?
No I don't think so, seems like a feminist fantasy.

Seems like a great way to spike the murder rate. What the hell kind of meme question is this
