Did Hitler really send people in to the mountains of India/Pakistan in order to decipher ancient Hindu texts? The Purana scriptures being the only remaining literature from the Aryans (along with the Avesta) - I don't find this difficult to believe, seeing as he literally incorporated a Hindu symbol for his movement and used a Hindu Sanskrit name for the supreme race.

Swastikas aren't Hindu. The Indo-Aryans just kept it for longer than other Indo-European tribes.

You can find the Swastika in Germanic archeology as well.

Earliest usage of the symbol was in central Asia/Iran though, and from there it spread out to Europe and India.

Whatever side we joined, they would come out on top. Not because the United States was the premier power back then. Our vast numbers and amazing amount of supplies would push a side well over the top.

Good enough of a reason to post this

http://mentalfloss.com/article/57121/42-quotes-germans-about-american-troops-after-world-war-i

bunch of quotes from what Germans thought about americans in WW1

I've heard it said several times that Japan's quick defeat of the British and Dutch forces in Southeast Asia had major social effects on the colonized population: while the Japanese were as alien and brutal as the British/Dutch, it was still an example of a "Mongoloid" race crushing a "Germanic" race is modern war, thus challenging the notions of racial superiority that were used to keep the colonized down. But I've never heard it elaborated upon; most academic sources don't note it except maybe offhand. How true was this? Any sources? Is this why wars of independence erupted in Southeast Asia soon after WW2 was over?

I'm pretty sure the notion that Asians are poor fighters due to genetics was dashed during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905.

With the colonizers and the Japanese gone, there's a power vacuum. The people also realize their colonizers aren't invincible. There was also a general trend of decolonization post WW-II.
It's a miracle the Dutch were actually able to rule over such a large population.

Two interesting takeaways.

1) It was so awful that it prompted the creation of the term "genocide".

2) The genocide inspired Hitler to commit the Holocaust. He basically stated that "if the Turks can get away with it, then surely we can".

I will now prove the existence of God to you all:

1. Everything thatexists in time had a beginning.
2. The universe exists in time.
3. Therefore the universe had a beginning.
4. Something had to create the universe.
5. The thing that created the universe has to exist outside of time.
6. Only something akin to a God can exist outside of time.
7. Therefore God created the universe.

i can see the line of argument kind of but you haven't set it up in a transparent formally valid way. which is stupid if you're going to lay it out as numbered premises
>>
>>2619393
like 1 and 2 entail 3 but then none of the other premises explicitly turn on 3, so why even state it
>>
>>2619399
I put 4 after 3 because 4 implies that it's true that the universe has a beginning and that was what 1-3 was about

So when the Romans invaded, did everyone think they were aliens or something?

Other than tourist traps, some spooky myths, being the setting of famous Jewish fairy tales and teaching the world how to properly mutilate their genitals, Ancient Egypt literally contributed nothing to world advancement. No part of modern civilization in any area of the world traces any part of its development to an Egyptian innovation. Don't get me wrong, it was certainly great in its day. But it had no new insights compared to the much more advanced Middle Eastern civs. Even the Greeks commented on how intellectually lazy these people were, the proof being that they developed NO astronomical theories despite Egypt being the perfect place for star gazing.

Note I am talking about ANCIENT Egyptian civilization. Not Greco-Roman Egypt which had nothing to do with traditional Egyptian culture and was just a food factory. Not to mention the coastal areas being built and inhabited by foreigners

The reason this meme nation is exalted was because Europeans WRONGLY thought it was the first civilization. They thought it invented farming, writing, animal husbandry, religion and a bunch of other things which have sense been proven false (and by a long shot) Nonetheless, this meme presses on

Egypt remained for most of its reign culturally stagnant. Mummification and pyramid building are common Neolithic motifs, the only special thing about Giza was its size. Even in its engineering, the Egyptians only had a basic mathematical knowledge and were poor in this regard compared to Babylon.

TL;DR, Egypt is a big fat MEME and is the lesser of the Mediterranean children I am sad to say

It was the first civilization way before the others. Also the pyramids and sphinx are utterly majestic. Also it's culture is super unique and the gods and desert and stuff are cool to learn about.

>>
>>2619332
OP is a faggot. Egyptians literally had the earliest mathematics and written languages. The former of which had the most influence on the Greeks compared to other ME civilizations. Shitloads of art and cultural norms were adopted by nearby societies as well and the Pyramids were architectural masterpieces that were not comparable to pre-historical ones.

>the proof being that they developed NO astronomical theories despite Egypt being the perfect place for star gazing.
This is a lie. They built the pyramids to align with the polestar.

The same as it does now. He admitted his way of life was outdated. He didn't go to the HQ thinking he would change anything.
>>
He went the coup route because he wanted to die like a samurai. He romanticized the ritual of seppuku and generally had fascination with death.

Mishima was a genius though, of that there can be no dispute, no matter if you are a left or right wing. He did however admit that Japan did not need men like him anymore and that they belonged to different era.
>>
Common people had an extraordinary hatred for samurai that was still fresh in memory, even before in the Edo and Meiji periods they were no longer really warriors but gradually became upper class bureaucrats with ceremonial swords, and the leisure time to create airy philosophical ponderings from relative peace and prosperity. He was not just "of a past era", but idolizing a mythic history that never really existed for modern romanticist purposes, just like other 20th century fascists over in Europe. A true warlike ethic simply does not mesh well with an aesthetic one, violence is fundamentally too ugly and pragmatic for that. Hence, a desirable warrior is a stereotypical boot that doesn't do too much thinking IRL, or he could easily come to the conclusion that the enemy makes more sense than his own side, or that self preservation is more reasonable than seeking death. Mishima was nothing more than a deranged LARPer like all fascists.
