Moor just means Muslim. Lots of Sub-Saharan Africans are Muslim. Plenty of Sudanese and West African slaves were brought to Al-Andalus, plus indigenous North Africans are 25% black themselves.

I like Orphans of the Storm about the French revolution. The old westerns with John Wayne are pretty good like Stagecoach. I also like Kurosawa's samurai films. Also Chaplin's films because they're about how the poor are mistreated and that's politically wise /his. territory.

Oligarch>all of the above

Is it save to say that mohammed was a genius? the only one that could think clearly and used this power to manipulate the world around him?

Think about it, in order for mohammed to believe his own story he would have to believe that he himself went to the moon on a goat, which of course didn't happen. Therefore Mohammed was lying OR completely insane, I think the former is more likely. So he made up a religion on the spot to work himself up from a merchant to the dominator of the entire arabian area while keeping a large part of the world in a stranglehold long after his death, the mental power this dude had over others was insane, even till this day his mind is still alive in others

Yes. The growth of the early caliphate in such a short time is astounding. Too bad he usually doesn't get as much focus as alexander the great or the roman emperors in american public schools.
>>
>>2635303
I wish muslims were more open about mohammed, for example I wish we could see what he looked like, he didn't oppose depictions himself. And I know it's of course unspeakable for muslims but considering we got his body it would be possible to dna test him and even clone him if we want, the fact that we got his body is unbelievable

its not actually true you retards. There was already an abrahamic religion in arabia influenced by catholicism and muhammed's tribe worshipped allah before he was even born. If he even existed, there was probably not one man named muhammed with the life muslim sources say he had. The quran barely says anything about muhammed, pretty much eveyrthing about his life was written by later people after his death, quite a long time after his death iirc.

I've been told that it depicts an arquebusier of the Holy Roman Empire, though isn't he too heavily armoured in his half munitions plate and chainmail?

So /his/tory, what is the history and historical accuracy of the character depicted in this image?

As for as I know (and I don't know much) he kind of looks like one of those riders that went shooting people while on horseback, or otherwise just used horses as a quick way to move around. Look at the spur on the boot, for example.
>>
>>2635004
A dragoon? True, it does look like he is holding an early carbine.
>>
>>2635007
Not sure if you could classify him as a dragoon. Honstly, the only reason I even know of renaissance horse-gunners is because of Total War: Medieval 2. Might be best to wait for another person to help you out.

What does /his/ think about the bicameral hypothesis?

>According to Jaynes, ancient people in the bicameral state of mind would have experienced the world in a manner that has some similarities to that of a schizophrenic.

>Rather than making conscious evaluations in novel or unexpected situations, the person would hallucinate a voice or "god" giving admonitory advice or commands and obey without question: one would not be at all conscious of one's own thought processes per se.

>Jaynes built a case for this hypothesis that human brains existed in a bicameral state until as recently as 3000 years ago by citing evidence from many diverse sources including historical literature.

>In the Iliad and sections of the Old Testament no mention is made of any kind of cognitive processes such as introspection, and there is no apparent indication that the writers were self-aware. Rather, the bicameral individual was guided by mental commands believed to be issued by external "gods". This is exemplified not only in the commands given to characters in ancient epics but also the very muses of Greek mythology which "sang" the poems: the ancients literally heard muses as the direct source of their music and poetry.

The Lusitania wouldn't have exploded if it wasn't carrying tons of gunpowder below deck. Such an act was illegal. Had the ship's magazine not exploded, the sinking would have taken hours and given plenty of time to evacuate.

Torpedoes alone cannot blow up ships.

Reminder to attend Holy Week services! Even if you are not religious, Orthodox holy week is like nothing else in the world.

Regarding the Latin arguments at the end of the last thread: correct, the Spirit does not proceed of himself, hence his procession is existentially, from the FATHER'S existence; his procession is not essential, for what is essential to God is common to the entire Trinity: if the Father'sonature or essence is the source of the Spirit's procession, then the Spirit's nature would also be the source, since the Spirit and Father are ontologically one and the same. Since the Spirit is NOT the source of the Spirit, his essence cannot precede his existence. Second, the Father's will is not the principle either, since, the Spirit and Father having the same will, that would make the Spirit's will the principle of his own existence. The Father and Son are synonymous with the Spirit except existentially, and so it is clear his procession is existentially, from the Father's existence, not his essence. The principle of the procession and the principle of the begetting are Father's existential properties--not his essential properties, or his will, both these are common to the entire Godhead. Just being begotten is a pure existential property of the Son, and proceeding is a purely existential property of the Spirit; all qualities of the Godhead are either unique to one person--existential qualities--or common to all three, those are ontological qualities, such as essence, operation and will.

>>
>>2633611
Divine essence implies divine existence. God is because He must, God is by definition existent. The existence of the Father implies the existence of the Son, and the existence of the Father and the Son implies the existence of the Spirit.
The reality of the filioque is also reflected in the economic trinity. The Father is sent by none. The Son is sent by the Father only. The Spirit is sent by both the Father and the Son. The Father is neither begotten nor proceeding. The Son is begotten of the Father only. The Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.

Why is it that the Jews keep getting repeatedly smacked, left and right, throughout history?

And I know this is like asking a dog to not shit on the new carpet: but don't turn this into a /pol/ thread. I'm not here to make accusations or assumptions. I'm just genuinely curious.

The fact they keep being treated as victims of prejudice and discrimination puts me more in the mind of how people who grow up in abusive households have a likelier chance of meeting more abusers when they grow up.

Middleman minorities tend to inspire hatred.

This is also true for Chinese in Southeast Asia and Indians in East Africa.

This being said, systematic antisemitism was really only a big thing in Europe after the blood libels and the Middle East after Hitler and the Wahhabists.

It's because they wouldn't assimilate, and because their religion was superior (more organized, older) than their hosts' (Egyptians, Christians etc).

Back before America, if a group wouldn't assimilate they were usually heavily taxed, and then eventually killed.

Why does everyone jerk off to Caesar and make him some godlike general equal to Napoleon, when there were so many better generals than Caesar, he was a mediocre general at best. Hannibal and Pyrrhus were much better generals than Caesar, yet nobody jerks off to them? Is it just romaboos being faggots as always? Discuss great generals.

P.S. what are those things on his knees? Are they supposed to be a part of the greaves in the shape of a lion or?
