>tfw its not Grouchy
>tfw its Prussians
I dont get it
>>3335865
Napoleon hoped for Grouchy to show up at Waterloo but they didn't. Also, he couldn't defeat the british fast enough so Blucher and his prussians showed up instead and decimated them.
Napoleon's fault for letting Blucher escape in prior battles
So, who the fuck was Chavez? was he good? was he really the amazing guy that had huge balls to go against america and the world with a small and strong people or was he just some crazy guy that lived off oil?
A Cuban influence agent, like every other Latin American leftist.
A charismatic socialist who had god tier luck in governing when oil was at $100+ a barrel, and managed to use that money to create a lavish welfare system and support his fellow leftists in Latin America (Venezuela sent Cuba heavily discounted oil until very recently). He was also lucky enough to die before oil plummeted and made his welfare system/oil dependent economy unsustainable

Regardless he still led the country to make gains at building up the military which could serve as a deterrent for another NATO bloc attempt at an Arab Spring in the region.
Also le vingt cinq rule.

Is this an accurate representation of what Eastern Orthodox believe about God? How does this even work with divine simplicity?
yes chrisitians get easily upset about the result of contemplation and they need to invent an interpretation where the human does not become one with god, contrary to hindus, because humans are too impure and their god is too pure.
Chrsitians claim that is it the energy of god that is felt during the contemplation.
Both hindus and christians are wrong and cling to spooks, but Christians are even worse than hindus about achieving contemplative states.
>>3334904
Who actually gives a shit about purity/impurity? Do people go around saying "CLEANSE THE IMPURE!!!!!!"? I've never seen that.
Humans were created specifically to not be a part of God. You choose to follow God's will because you want to, because you agree with God, through your experiences on Earth you learn and discover God's truth.

>How does this even work with divine simplicity?
It doesn't, hence why they deny that ancient doctrine
One society had:
>differential computers
>built ancient suez canal
>showers
>crossbows
>alarm clocks
>pressure cannons
>pumps
Lot of good it did them, they were conquered by the romans
Islamic golden age is a comparable situation, So were the pre-bronze age collapse civilizations (relative to their time)
What was different about early modern technological leap?
>>3334787
we wuz conquered by the jooz
>>3334797
Nah, but seriously man, Everything going up to mass adoption of the printing press was also present; other places had societal conditions for rapid tech progress.
So, why us? Why did our tech revolution (1500s-on) change so much of the world, while these other ones barely made a difference?

Thanks for shitposting, bro.
Now that the Dust has settled, can we get an actual answer as to how the Poles avoided the Plauge??
They didn't have a Rothschild bank? (Probably that would be the response from the Rothschild poster.)
>>3334781
nobody with the disease went to poland
why? who the fuck wants to go to poland
>>3334781
I would assume it was a culmination of low population, vast open space, easy access to clean water, and no major trade ports.
How true is this?
Well firstly, that's a really faggoty sounding quote.
I guess it technically is true, because most historical people the a erage person knows tend to be exaggerated caricatures of the actual person, but the spirit of the wuote is not. This is written so that it sounds like "the masses" are doing something bad, but why SHOULD they know every facet of their heroes personality? They aren't interested in history and just want someone to look up to. If they actually invested time into learning about who those heroes are, they would be historians, and not "the masses".
Jim Morrison said something like that but without making it sound so gay.
>>3334829
Is that so though? I get that mythification is something good that happens naturally with people and their heroes, but there's a difference between mythification, and idolification, just as "the masses" are not the same as the people or folk.
Imagine actually fighting with a sword. No seriously, just imagine it for a minute. Imagine what it must have felt like to actually stab another man, who see his blood spill out, to feel the bones crunching inside of him, with him crying out in pain. And he's right in front of you the entire time. Must have been intense. How did people manage it?

Dan? Is that you?

My name is Dan but I'm not the OP
Or Dan Carlin
Backstory
>être moi
>Christian
>went through an Episcopalian elementary and another Episcopalian high school
>staunch libertarian worldview which has a strong effect on spirituality
>dad grew up in Afghanistan and is Muslim but doesn't practice whatsoever
>for example bacon is his favorite food, he drinks, has never prayed 5x/day in his life, when I call him out on anything he just says the Quran never mentions it
>same story with Christian mom, doesn't go to church or claim she's any denomination
>both parents hella secular
>never considered myself as any one denomination similar to my mother
>never went to church outside of school church services
>always considered Christianity as solely between you and God, belief is all that matters and not practice, always wanted to stay away from getting caught up in religious politics until recently
So now I'm gonna stop greentexting because it's tedious and I suck at it, my sentences are too long and it defeats the point
Basically, I'm all that I just mentioned, flash forward to a few weeks ago and I decided to join a denomination. Figured that it's stupid to keep calling myself nondenominational because autists automatically assume that it means b*ptist.
I figured, why not Episcopalian, because that's how I grew up. Also was looking at Anglican because of my sort of libertarian/conservative POV.
I was all for it until recently, my best friend was talking about how he didn't enjoy the church services from high school because of the service leader. For reference he's a commited Episcopalian.
He said that it was so horrible how the guy made everything into a "praising out loud, waving hands in the air, singing fun songs" type of service. Apparently my buddy is more used to a traditional "sit down and pray" type of service.
The fact that he was SO pissed off about it was a huge awakening for me. I've always considerer myself Protestant but I just wanted to tell out "Luther, you fucking kraut" at that exact moment. CONT
Why, oh why, would anyone be so mad over such a minor grievance? It made no sense to me why anyone would care THAT much. It was at that moment I realized that Protestantism was truly a mistake.
Do not get me wrong, nothing rubs me in the in the wrong direction more than Catholicism. While I respect their traditions and commitments greatly more so than the denominations formed up north, the idea of another man being closer to God than I am is an inconceivable untruth.
Where do I turn? I can't just stay in this state of limbo, but Protestantism and Catholicism are now equally garbage in my eyes. I wouldn't know the first thing about Orthodoxy other than people saying it's healthy for you as well as /pol/tards worshiping it for some reason (which sort of scares me but I should never turn something down solely because of its fanbase).
What do I do? Please no fedora answers, keep this &humanities thread relevant.
To clarify, I was raised in Episcopalian schools that were accepting of all backgrounds to an almost radical extent. They never truly focused on what it was to be "Episcopalian" it was more just generic 45 minute church services once or twice a week. That's why I said I'd try to turn towards the denomination I supposedly grew up in, despite being surrounded by it nobody ever truly explained to me what it entailed. Maybe my worldview was shaped by it which is why I'm having difficulty telling it apart. Tough to say. You tell me. Fuck I hate typing on my phone.
Reply to me dammit
Is there any path that he could have taken that didn't lead to the end of the Russian Empire and/or his own death? It seems like the game was rigged against him from the start. If he refuses to defend Serbia from Conrad, then that would probably cause a revolt. On the other hand, if choses to go to war, then that also results in a revolt. What was he even supposed to do?
>>3334455
Side with Germany
Say fuck off to France
Kill everyone that is a threat to his power
And so on.
>>3334455
>What was he even supposed to do?
declare war, set up defensive positions and wait for winter
>>3334455
If he didn't go full autismo and replace his cousin as supreme commander the revolution wouldn't have succeeded. Might still have gotten kicked out of the war, but he'd still be ruling.
what did ethnic finnic (inhabitants of modern day finland and karelia) people look like 1000 years ago?
>>3334164
>>3334170
I'm genuinely curious if ancient finns looked like modern day finns
How do Catholics justify crazy things like praying to Mary and confessing their sins although there's no word of this in the bible?
How do protestcunts justify faith alone when the Bible explicitly and preventively denies this doctrine?
How do Chr*stians justify following a messiah who states parts of the OT are no longer applicable when the bible explicitly denounces such a person?
>>3334181
the Bible*
Why did other countries not give it up?
Americans were able to afford it while yuropeans claim that they are superior for driving a 1l penalty box in traffic.
American's claim to be about self reliance, choice, freedom, and personal liberty, when in reality they're fat dumb fucking idiots who need their car, and their state to tell them what to do. The modern american man, he does not want control, he does not want responsibility, all this it wants is plop his fat gunt in front of the television and watch american idol, so the celebs can tell him what politician he ought vote for.
Americans are, and always will be, fat fucking loser pieces of shit, who NEED to die.
Die you fucking americans, find the nearest sledghammer and cave your fucking skulls in.

Why did Byzantines look like Jews?
Have you ever seen one to be so sure about that?
>>3333642
Because Greeks look like jews
>>3333670
This.
t.I am Greek.
We even have curly hair, at least, some of us.
Why did Greeks and Romans hate archers so much when they were so essential to Egyptian and Persian warfare?
Because they were essential to Egyptian and Persian warfare.
I don't know but I assume it's because their armies were mostly infantry, and archers would have a field day if they are not threatened by a large and powerful enemy cavalry.
>>3333601
harassing the enemy using hit and run tactics from a far away distance or on a horse is seen as being a pussy move instead of fighting fairly
archers shoot from far away and if enemy comes close they run away
