What real situation is the Prisoner's dilemma meant to represent? What are the philosophical implications of this theory?
>>2790191
It means you have to confess because you can't trust prisoner A, he's a fat fuck
>>2790191
This one is kind of werid. If both remaining silent still results in prison sentences. Isn't one remaining silent and the other telling the truth more optimal than both remaining silent (at least for one person)?
>>2790191
I'd think something like arms races, if one side gets them and the other doesn't its a steam roll. If both sides get arms than its going to cost a lot of money to still be evenly matched. If no side participates you save a ton of resources and the war will be less devastating and lengthy but you are still evenly matched.
Did you know race mixing between Africans (Bantu) and Asians (Maylay) happened in Madagascar years ago before Colonization of the New World and Slavery.

Patton supposedly thought that he was the reincarnation of a Carthaginian general, perhaps Hannibal. Lets post more people who were clearly the second coming of someone previous.
>>2789883
Plz no offend Hannibal.
Hitler probably was a reincarnation of Cthulhu or an avatar of a demon from other dimension.
>>2789883
He was the seconding coming of Jesus, and by extension, the rest of the founding fathers
what was his prophecy?
>>2789836
That pic isn't Muhammad, it's Ali.
>>2789836
That's Ali aka Shia Muhammad
What does /his/ think of a society that is homogeneous in most ways like race, religion, and culture? Has it ever existed in history before? (One place that comes to mind is Africa) Are there any benefits to have a state or nation that is homogeneous ?
>>2789686
>Has it ever existed in history before?
The only true homogeneous societies that have existed usually were in isolated areas with limited population growth.
>>2789702
I specified society, anon. I understand countries haven't had this before, I was wondering if there are benefits if it was possible

I'm gonna bump this thread because I want to know what's gonna happen.
I'm gonna bump this thread because I want to see actual historical discussion as well as /pol/ and /leftypol/ shitposting.

Plato describes Atlantis as a place west of Spain and an island that served as a stopping point between Europe and the lands beyond.
How did he know that the America's existed 1300 years before the vikings found them?
Is this not proof enough that it could exist?
>>2789599
Atlantis was literally made up on the spot for the sake of a thought experiment you illiterate fuck
>Judging by everything, the American continent was not the westernmost continent in sacred geography as Atlantis was, but rather its further-Western “continuation.” In other words, America was “beyond Atlantis”, the lands located “on the other side of the West.” It is possible that the sacred, symbolic location of America explains the disturbing secrets associated with it in the sacred geography of Eurasia’s traditional civilizations.

This, he explicitly states this. It's possible it was modeled thematically on the bronze age collapse, but that's pretty much it.
Is intimidating, manipulating, or coercing people an act of violence?
>>2789494
Yes it violates NAP
Intimidating or coercing is, obviously.
By manipulating you'd have to be more specific. A white lie might be manipulative, but not sure I would call it violence.
>>2789494
anything can be considered violence now.
this post is violence
Bill Wurtz just released this classic an hour ago

I feel so bad for them to be honest
>"The Italian command was, for the most part, not equal to the task of carrying on war in the desert, where the requirement was lightning decision followed by immediate action. The training of the Italian infantryman fell far short of the standard required by modern warfare. … Particularly harmful was the all pervading differentiation between officer and man. While the men had to make shift without field-kitchens, the officers, or many of them, refused adamantly to forgo their several course meals. Many officers, again, considered it unnecessary to put in an appearance during battle and thus set the men an example. All in all, therefore, it was small wonder that the Italian soldier, who incidentally was extraordinarily modest in his needs, developed a feeling of inferiority which accounted for his occasional failure and moments of crisis. There was no foreseeable hope of a change for the better in any of these matters, although many of the bigger men among the Italian officers were making sincere efforts in that direction.
The moment the Italians declared war, their officer class should have been sent to Germany for training, their troops placed under German leadership.

My history professor has been bashing Britain for monopolizing Iran's oil fields and "paying the Iranians a fraction of what they're worth."
But here's what I don't get. Did Iran even have a means of extracting oil by themselves? Shouldn't they have been grateful for at least getting a portion of the money generated by the British extracting the oil, rather than having no one do it and getting virtually no money?
>>2788743
>being grateful for being colonized
When does the meme end?
Why does it matter if they had it at that time? It was prolly a matter of time when they would start it. If Equatorial Guinea can maintain 23k+ GDP with oil alone bit without basic infrastructure such as running watet then I fail to see why Iran would have been unable to pay someone to build it for them.
>>2788743
Maybe not when they started but by the time they were nationalized they extracted oil on their own
>>2788869
Wrong.
They had to hire Italians to come and work the machinery after they kicked out the Brits.
I'm not advocating for egoism but at a certain point isn't supporting something simply because you or your family benefit from it ethical justification enough?
>>2788731
Ethics is a spook. We define the ethical purely in terms that suit us.
>>2788731
Yes, altruism is nice and all, but family comes first.

Rome fell because of German immigrants. After this the Germans proceeded to ruin Europe three times.
Thirty Years' War happened because of religious intolerance, but continued because Europe was having too much fun to stop
So like, France loses all the wars lol
