Apologies if this isn't the right place for this- not my normal board.
I'm wondering why the golden rule is so culturally ubiquitous when it's actually deeply flawed.
>people want to be treated in different ways
>people want to be treated over and above a reasonable level, which could not be possible for all people (eg I might want people to give me free food)
Any known cultural alternatives for a fundamental rule of behaviour? Any personal suggestions?

>Islam
>Hadith quote
what did they meant by that? isn't there any rule like that in the Quran?
>>2799304
Treat Jews the way they treated Mohammad.
>>2799304
Yeah it's funny how so much of what the layman hears attributed to the Qu'ran is from a hadith

Who are some philosophers that are critical of democracy like Nietzsche?
>>2798242
Stirner.
>>2798242
Basically everybody shits on democracy but at the same time they can't come up with a better system. Churchill said it best, democracy is the worst possible system, except all the others which are worse.
How often did kids accidentally killed themself or a member of the family with a gun because there was no gun control?

Where exactly did this Khazaria Theory come from? I know it's a /pol/ meme at this point, but I'd like to know how it actually gained traction. Or if Judaism was even common among Khazars.
Judaism was not common among khazars, it was the ruling caste similar to how jews in USA.
In a thousand years people will call jews americans instead of khazars
>>2798003
Some Jew made it up.
>>2798003
It was always a fringe theory that was later disproved by genetic research.
It was at first popular among some pro integration Jewish ashkenazi circles in the 19 century because it provided them with a more local origin and disconnected them from the killing Christ accusations.
Later it became very popular in Arab academia and is actually the official version tought at schools in many arab countries because it plays well with ''Jews are European colonizers'' nerrative.
It has spread back from there to the anti zionist extreme left and altright via arab immigration and internet.

What are your thoughts on Basquiat?
From what I've observed, people on the Internet seem to have mixed opinions on him, but I absolutely love his work.
For me, he's one of the greatest artists of the 20th century (just a tier below Picasso and Matisse).
I've seen some people say that his work is a case of "the emporer's now clothes", but I couldn't disagree more. Although his work does have a naive quality, he embraces the naïveté in order to create something unique and expressive.
Not to mention the astounding complexity of his work. Each painting contains a vast amount of information and references that work like a visual puzzle that are fun to work out as a viewer.
If you dissagree, let me know why and we can have a discussion
I'll dump some of my favorite works by him
>Between half a million and two million cuneiform tablets are estimated to have been excavated in modern times, of which only approximately 30,000 – 100,000 have been read or published. The British Museum holds the largest collection (c. 130,000), followed by the Vorderasiatisches Museum Berlin, the Louvre, the Istanbul Archaeology Museums, the National Museum of Iraq, the Yale Babylonian Collection (c.40,000) and Penn Museum. Most of these have "lain in these collections for a century without being translated, studied or published," as there are only a few hundred qualified cuneiformists in the world.
>>2797595
Wow, that's pretty exciting. Maybe there's some cool stuff in those tablets...
If only a few hundred people have bothered to learn it doesn't it stand to reason that they are all employed translating the stuff?
>>2797595
I'm thinking that the first step should be to scan as many of these tablets as possible... that way people will be able to work on translating them without having to go actually look at the things.
