You can shrink the file down by putting it in a different container like .mkv. Usually the bitrate alone contributes to most of the filesize. If you cut the bitrate in half, you cut the filesize in half.

Nowadays, I typically render at 854x480, 30fps, at average 1-2,000,000bps in .mp4.

(it's from 2010 so some of it is outdated but the theory section is pretty timeless and a good read)

I can think of two things that I'm doing differnt than most others:
1.: I encode all my videos using x264 10 bit which is honestly what everyone should use for obvious reasons. Let me spell them out anyway;
10 bit encodes use more bits for error correction so even though the color space of the output video will still only have 8bit of colors it will be encoded
using higher precision which reduces color errors this in turn reduces color banding this is most notably on dark scenes but improves the overall visuals slightly.
Also it compresses videos better without losing quality on the same bitrate compared to 8 bit since the 10bit encode will use higher efficiency.

I personally use baka encoder for that: http://vtt.to/baka%20encoder it's a simple GUI for x264 and x265 (I would not suggest using x265 yet due to it's 10 bit encodes taking way longer than their x264 counterparts. At some point in the future this might change.) and you can do 10 bit encodes with it, it's a pretty neat
and simple program. This is the preset that I use:

After I'm done editing I clean my video using avisynth (plus). see the below mentioned avisynth101 tutorial for that.
usually you want to
sharpen
apply some temporal / spatial noise filters
+ do debanding

this section of the above mentioned tutorial is pretty important it explains some avisynth filters:

some of this knowledge can be applied to our videos as well especially the sharpening, noise and banding section

I would discourage touching the bitrate, you're much better off
just using 10 bit + crf 16 or something like that. You shouldn't have to cut down bitrates at all.
Also mp4 and mkv are containers and containers are not that important
just use x264 the container you use matters much less for visuals than you think.

So me and others have been trying to figure out which service to use now since google is slowly purging the drive little by little.

We came to two conclusions which are Mega and Dropbox.

Now Mega and Dropbox fulfills the 4 main rules for this criteria and that being
1. It will constantly be on?
2. can editors upload with ease?
3. is it ok to upload the porn there?
4. is it affordable?
5 and 6. are just extras like video preview and thumbnails and so on but are not required.

The only difference between mega and dropbox now is that mega doesn't have video previewing but dropbox does but at a 15 minute limit per video and a few other things

Dropbox doesn't care as long as the porn is legal and mega give no fucks

Mega allows users to upload if they have an acc to other users if they have said folder shared and vice versa but dropbox can allow non users to upload to a dropbox users accounts and do what mega can initially do.

full disclosure: dropbox uses 256AES which is solid but it has vulnerabilities & i dont like to take chances. is it likely someone will abuse these vulnerabilities? no.

Hey Z, about Hey Fujino.
I did some comparisons (ran them both side-to-side), I like the vocal version more but I think you got a kinda shitty track for it. It lacks a lot of treble and range compared to v2.
Did you make the vocal version yourself or did you just get it off a crappy source?

Also, at the part at 03:39 where the drums fade out removing the vocals would add a lot to the impact. You'd think the following scene (which also has no vocals) would dampen the effect, but it actually just hypes up the point when the vocals kick in even more.

Later on, at 05:39, you've got a slight hitch in the loop. This isn't a symphony but it's pretty jarring.

Specific complaints aside, I love the work you put into it, I'd say it worked out pretty well. Video has great sync, beat is rockhard and solid, you repeat some scenes but for the positive rather than the negative. Good HMV all-round.

I really like the way you keep improving, man, keep it up!

I'm not going to be around for awhile, I recently joined a second band, and what little time I had left between; my first band, work, and video games is now all but completely gone. I've used my bass guitar so much lately I might change my strings to something that doesn't ware on the fingers as much.
