I find that kanji puns rarely work in English in any fashion whatsoever. For example, in this story the word for “to welcome” is written in a certain way, but the first kanji is replaced with one that sounds the same but means “wickedness”, and is used in the phrase “gang rape”. Which is appropriate, given the story, and very cute. But how the fuck does one cram all that into a suitably short English phrase?

So I didn’t bother. But you can still enjoy the gang rape. Puns are hardly essential to the process. ;)

Honestly, I’m not sure what I think of this. It feels much the same as his old stuff (some is outright copied from old omakes, some is same images with new text), but meaty Rei is so sexy.

Bit of a story here, so forgive the wall of text.

I started LWB way back when, and while other people helped me run a lot of it I was still kind of responsible for it all coming together. All the behind the scenes stuff was sapping my will to translate. There's a lot of cat herding that goes into running a big group like that. I felt like I was burning out, so I handed it over to other people and got out.

So I've been translating by myself for the last year and a half, and it's been really good. I've got my groove back. I'm back to at least a couple of stories a week. I've been working with a few people that I knew from LWB, and some others that I met afterwards.

It's been awesome, but as you can see from the quantity of spare scripts I have lying around I vastly overpower the amount of editors I'm in contact with. No disrespect to them, they do an awesome job and editing is way, way more time consuming that translating is.

So I'm trying to broaden my horizons again and build a network of people who are interested in maybe working together sometimes, very casually. No secret forums and special clubs and stuff, just me giving stuff away and other people doing what they can with it.

We'll see how it goes. LWB started off being very open, and I think it started getting away from me when I shut the doors and started trying to make rules and stuff about how things should be done. I liked it when it was just a bunch of people who liked porn who work on stuff they all enjoy. So I'm gonna make that.

The other problem is the progression. Even assuming that you are self-motivated and just enjoy doing it, which some do, as you get better the tendency is to take on more and more difficult stuff.

Which means redraws, which even if you're awesome take a long, long time. So as you get better you actually end up going even slower.

There are plenty of great editors out there, but they don't care to be filling bubbles with white any more than I do. It's not hard, but it's not fun either. The only stuff that's attractive is that with an interesting page join or redraw.

What's needed for the majority of stuff is mid-level editors that still find good typesetting and cleaning a challenge. Hence the endless search for new editors.

If it's easier for you to email I can set up a throwaway email, but I've never needed one so far for SNP.

For fonts, you'll want at least two.

First, something plain for normal text and speech, a dialogue font. The defaults are Anime Ace or Wild Words, although if you find something else that you like and is similar then go for it. But you'll never go wrong with either of the two above.

Secondly, something a bit more wild for screams, moans, and emphasis. An effects font. The default used to be Mouthbreather, but I and a bunch of other editors ran that one into the ground so it's considered somewhat unstylish now. I used Full Bleed in the Ayanami story above, and I'm fairly happy with it for now.

If you want to browse fonts, try http://www.blambot.com/ or http://www.dafont.com/ or http://www.1001fonts.com/. Blambot especially is good if you're new, it's all fonts designed for comics, and they've got sections for dialogue and effects fonts.

Whatever you choose, make sure that they're all caps, and that they wouldn't look out of place in a western comic book.

You could probably spend thirty hours reading before starting if you wanted, but it wouldn't help much and it's not much fun. :)

If you go to reorder, each image has a dropdown box underneath it. You can use that box to choose the new sequence position for an image, or to delete it.

There's also an option to add more files, which will automatically be added last in sequence.

The easiest way is to upload your new files into the gallery, then remove the old one and place the new one into it's appropriate place in sequence.

I looked at it. It takes a long, long time to get interesting. I know that's kind of a Nozarashi thing, but there's plenty of other Nozarashi that I'd do first that doesn't slow roll quite as much.

There's actually a couple of chapters I have my eye on, but I put them on the back burner after I got a super aggressive commenter on the blog earlier in the year. Because I'm kinda sorta doing some requests but not others, I'll give some tips for how to request.

Be specific. It seems like a good idea to give a broad request because then there's a better chance that the translator will find something that tickles their fancy. But actually, by giving a 200+ page book to select from, there's a reasonably high chance that the translator doesn't even take the time to look at it.

I mean, think about the time it would take you to read 200 pages of manga in English. Even skimming, it's probably a good ten or fifteen minutes. And hobbyist translators with English as a first language (hi!) don't read as fast in Japanese as English.

Don't take this the wrong way, I actually quite like Clone Ningen too. I feel like I translated some a long time ago, but I might just be imagining it.

Anyway, the tl;dr version is just request exactly the story that you want. Be brave. You'll get a yes or a no, but your chances of getting a yes are actually higher than if you hand me a whole tank.
