gd noob here trying to learn my chops..
can we talk about how to get this Vignelli style transparency that I see a lot on poster styles lately?
adjusting opacity is proving unsatisfactory.. is it a layer style kinda deal?

just separate the color channels
it's fucking easy in photoshop but how the fuck you get this in indesign or illustrator I've no clue

hmm yea i've only been experimenting in Ai.
i'll give that a try in Ps.. can u elaborate a bit though?

Hit blending options on a layer and look for the color channel checkboxes, there's three of 'em for red, green and blue.
when you copy that layer and uncheck say, red on one and blue and green on the other then move the layer around, you get your anaglyph 3d effect

ah bless, thank you

Everyone here is overcomplicating it. Just set the Illustrator layer to "multiply" when you change opacity. For fuck's sake guys, really?

correct. i was using color burn. was able to replicate vignelli pretty closely

you can do a hax0r and use 'divide objects below' and then recolor manually to your liking.
It's called overprinting. There is a setting for it in Illustrator.
