I've only been using photoshop heavily for about 2 months ago. I've been learning how to make fashwave. How good is this in comparison to the more experienced and good looking ones?

Sorry my wording is shite. I meant I've only been using photoshop really heavily since 2 months ago.
EVERY MORNING I WAKE UP AND OPEN PALM SLAM A VHS INTO THE SLOT. IT’S CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK AND RIGHT THEN AND THERE I START DOING THE MOVES ALONGSIDE WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER, RIDDICK. I DO EVERY MOVE AND I DO EVERY MOVE HARD. MAKIN WHOOSHING SOUNDS WHEN I SLAM DOWN SOME NECRO BASTARDS OR EVEN WHEN I MESS UP TECHNIQUE. NOT MANY CAN SAY THEY ESCAPED THE GALAXYS MOST DANGEROUS PRISON. I CAN. I SAY IT AND I SAY IT OUTLOUD EVERYDAY TO PEOPLE IN MY COLLEGE CLASS AND ALL THEY DO IS PROVE PEOPLE IN COLLEGE CLASS CAN STILL BE IMMATURE JEKRS. AND IVE LEARNED ALL THE LINES AND IVE LEARNED HOW TO MAKE MYSELF AND MY APARTMENT LESS LONELY BY SHOUTING EM ALL. 2 HOURS INCLUDING WIND DOWN EVERY MORNIng

If you have the creative cloud you could just get Adobe Character Animator. Its still in beta, but works really well with AE and is constantly updated.
Hey guys. i am a second year graphic design student and my school requires a laptop so i can work on my projects in class.
I will be using this computer as my main machine. I plan to use most of adobe's programs such as indesign and photoshop.
I dont know what will benefit me most. A computer that is small and portable or a bigger computer that is heavier and more powerfull.
I do not live on campus so i would have to take this computer back and forth on public transport plus some walking everyday.
heres what i had in mind.
macbook pro 13 inch no touch bar ( i heard it performs better when compared to the touch bar version)
with 16 gb ram and 256 ssd 2.3 ghz dual core i5 processor
or the 15 inch mac book pro with
2.8 ghz quad core i7
dedicated radeon 555 graphics
16 gb ram , so basically the stock model of the 15 inch.
the price would be about 1700 with my student discount for the 13 inch vs 2250 for the 15 inch.
I want something that will last me the rest of my school career so about another 3 years. i dont want to have to worry about buying another computer though.
thanks in advance
>>317011
/gd/ on a 13 inch screen seems like a bad idea.
also, design=mac was true in the early 90s but is nothing but a meme these days.
if you are a mac fanboy go for it, otherwise, save some money and get a better machine.
also, don't worry about the gpu, it's only useful for 3d rendering and you aren't gonna do that on a laptop in the first place
>>317012
my school primarily teaches on macs though. they even said that it was up to us to figure out some of the bugs that might be apparent on windows and not macs.
also i have a 21.5 inch imac that is slow running adobe but it might be doable if i need a bigger screen.
what other computers should i look at?
so the gpu isnt important? i dont plan to play any games on the computer. i would just use it as an adobe machine

If you don't have to be portable or can work from the cloud and in labs on campus, get a desktop. More bang for your buck.
Apples are fine and dandy but are NOT a necessity. Really hoping this thread doesn't devolve into another OS flamewar.
Ideas for a /good/ Design with the letter "D"?

Maybe this is the wrong place to be asking this, but I've always been fascinated with the design of a building near where I grew up. Union Terminal in Cincinnati Ohio. (pic related)
What do you call an aesthetic like this? Industrial? I'm creating a game where I'd like the art style to be similar. Almost a bit like Bioshock if Bioshock wasn't sucking Ayn Rand's crusty russian cock so hard. I'm having trouble finding references to similarly designed pieces as I don't know what in the fuck to call this.
More pics for reference
still searching around and an old guy in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akUKZAxWSsQ calls it "yahoo art deco" at 2:10
Do you guys know how to make that ? is there anyway to copy paste something that can follow a defined line ?
You can do that on Paint, select what you want and hold shift
>>316909
not really the same tho doesn't seem really precise, but thanks anyway
You are searching for term 'blending'.
im remaking this image in illustrator and I cant find a way to bend the gradients in each segment of the polar grid, the gradients remain straight and don't align to the shape of the grid. is there a way to do it?
i get straight linear gradients
>>316885
make the shape with only a stroke - go to gradient options - gradient along stroke - then expand
>>316891
ok, thanks, im a noob so its all trial and error, but its a step forward for me, so thanks, heres where im at so far >_<
How do I tell a client that my design services rate has gone up in a non-arrogant or rude sounding way? Employed as an internal graphic artist at a retail company, taking in clients on the side here.
Last job I did for him was at 5,000 pesos (that's about $100), and I want to up it to 8,000, since that's pretty much how I value myself currently.
It just seems too frank(?) to have to give that out as a reason for the price increase.
>>316854
Just say you gained more experience and now consider yourself on a higher level that you earned through training and time.
Its easy to understand that the longer you work a job, the better you get at it, and if you produce higher quality content you should be euqally compensated for that.
>>316854
Either just say that you're more experienced (Could try to BS some extra value you're offering now with the extra experience over the last job you did for them).
Or it might be easier to say that you've been alot busier recently and are having to up your rates abit...
Also if the scope of this new job is different you could blame the price change on that.
Either way mention it early in the discussion and just be casual along the lines of "my rate for this job would be 8000 I hope thats ok?". If thats a problem for them thats their chance to get upset or try to talk you down. Just bear in mind they were happy with your original job or wouldn't be coming back again.
What kind of pesos?
Probably the most talented and funniest animator with the funniest and best animated videos on You Tube. Anyone heard of him or like his videos? What's your favorite?
Speedy sausages
What do you even--
Can I use this thread to ask which YouTuber you guys watch? I am talking about informational and educational YouTube channels, that are all about /gd/.
My problem - if you consider it one - is I only know about Jazza - really. He makes pretty quality content, but something feels Pewdiepie about him. Also, I am pretty sure there are better artists out there.
Please help /gd/.
I'll paypal someone a quick $20 to just smooth this out for me and just make it black and white, no grey. Thanks friends
>>316701

Hi /gd/,
I'm a professional designer but have almost exclusively worked outside of home and have been provided hardware. I was doing a year of social work and now have to equip my home to freelance but my knowledge of top design gear is from more than 5 years ago and alot has changed.
tldr: I'm looking for a affordable but qualitative Retina(!) Display I can connect to my computer to work on.
Must haves:
• more than 150dpi
• truest colors possible
• more than 60hz
got any tips for me?
>>316310
Good luck finding a monitor with good color over 60hz (you really don't need more than that for video editing), these are not above 60hz but i would recommend Dell UltraSharp and you can use a color calibrator to get the colors as you like but factory should be fine.
>>316365
thanks, actually I don't need the 60Hz would've been nice to have tho

Do you think that username JayIsNotAsian is offensive to use in a personal logo or a company ?
not at all. use it.
Considering the moralist faggots that are in this guild, i would rather not.
Not on say Newgrounds but in a professional context absolutely, not that I or anyone here cares but no professional will ever want to speak that name to someone else in a professional context, it's embarrassing to be heard to say and just kind of a shit name anyway
This is Brett Romero.
Brett is looking for a website designer to build him a site akin to Goldman Sachs for $75.
Would you do it, /gd/?
After seeing some numbers about his company, I might do it for 75 bucks and 50% stake in the company
>>316307
Fixed price, not hourly.
>>316289
Use httrack, grab Goldman Sachs website and customise it for Brett.
