Is the Phenom II the best CPU AMD has ever made?
>Released in 2009
>Much cheaper than Intel
>Still good enough to use their quad cores in 2016 without bottlenecks
>Tfw can't overclock mines past 3.4ghz
I've seen people with 4ghz overclocks on air but mines gets unstable past 3.4 unless I turn up the voltage to the point where I can feel the heat in the room.
I had a Phenom II back in the first PC I built in 2010
>Phenom II X4 965
>4GB DDR3 1600 RAM
>M4A79XTD EVO Motherboard
It was god tier and lasted me for like half a decade before I upgraded everything and gave the old parts to my dad.
I have 965 BE and my friend had 955. Otherwise great CPU, but we both had this exact problem where our CPUs would just freeze about hour after first power up of the day. After hard reset it newer does it again until it has been powered off for a while. Ridiculous error if you ask me and we couldn't figure out what causes it or how we could avoid it.
945 here, I want to change it for one that emits less heat. I'm the guy who posted >>52974671.
That said, performance-wise it's great. And unlike FX series, these have the amount of physical cores they declare.
Phenom II 940BE here. I've gotten it as high as 3.75ghz, but even so I need 1.5v to get there, and the board its on is not designed to handle that kind of power draw, as evidenced when I finally charred the CPU power plug socket from the power draw. Almost fried the board.
this bad boy right here
will probably replace it once zen hits though, we shall see
what cooler are you using? this is on 212 evo, i had to turn up the voltage just a little bit, like .05 V i think
>not realizing once zen is launched Intel will be for poorfags
>not realizing zen will be finfet as well as 14nm
>not realizing zen at 28nm = haswell
>not realizing how beefy zen will be
>not realizing zen is a complete redesign
>not realizing Jim Keller designed oversaw development
