Do you sit several feet from your screen? If you are at a normal distance from the screen (about 6 inches) then you can see the difference if you concentrate. There is a difference.

It can be pretty good my man, but very flawed out of the box.
The replaceable battery has also come in handy many times, for example when I've taken more than 2000 pictures in a single day.

I have always stated how stupid was anything larger than 1280x720 for a 5 inch phone. Were there is a marginal benefit going 1920x1080 for a 5~5 inches phone regarding sharpness of small text, truth is that is not really even slightly confortable reading a zoomed out website/book with minuscle text to the point the resolution would have any benefit...

However, While QUADHD and even 4k are utterly ridiculous pointless marketing features for clueless peope that think more is better, I can't really say that development of such displays for high end phones was bad, since I'm still hyped for Virtual Reality Headsets and for those applications anything bellow 1440 lines of resolution is unnaceptable due to magnification of the lenses.

And while some try to argue that a 4k vr is pointless since modern gpus wouldn't be able to render games at such high resolution, the solution for that is already pretty clear: Low Latency 120hz Eye tracking with local rendering. This has already proven to work with Fove VR Headset. it's a chame that the first Oculus won't implement any Eyetracking technology to popularize it with developers and gpu drivers early, though.

There are a few things you can do. If your phone is rootable and bootloader unlocked, you can install cyanogenmod (probably) and then use a root-level program to change the internal resolution to something less retarded.

Unless you want to look to a 4 inches minuscle image with black borders all around it, there is no point in reducing the display resolution since the gpu will still need to upscale the lowered resolution to be displayed on all the screen and any decent upscale algorithm (bicubic, lanczos or better) actually consumes calculation and thus battery. This would only help for 3D applications, for regular UI display I doubt there would be significant battery savings by doing that.

You actually CAN tell the difference between 720, 1080, 1440 and above with the naked eye (talking about ~5 inch screens)
But the same rule applies as it does with super expensive stuff like "audiophile 1k$+ headphones": if we are honest, it does not make a big enough difference to deal with the downsides of these products for a big majority of users (talking 90%+).
With headphones the drawback is obviously the price, with this thing, its the battery life.
