Are audiophiles for real or is it just a hoax?
>>
>>52952073
ur mum was real when i have her the hoax
>>
What's wrong with people buying good audio if they can afford it?

I admit, some of it is over the top and a bit annoying, but otherwise who gives a fuck?

>>
>>52952073
It's a real hoax. Using expensive audio equipment causes placebo effect which can trigger endorphin release making listening genuinely more pleasurable.
>>
>>52952073
I actually tried those Orpheus headphones at ces 2015

They actually were pretty insane, even with the hustle and bustle of everyone around the booths it took me to a different world
>>
>>52952254
Though I would not spend $20,000 on them

It's a complete and utter hoax.
Obviously $10 headphones will have a shittier sound than $100 headphones, but those $2K shits you see audiophiles jerking themselves off with are completely placebo.

tube cylinders
>>
>>52952429

Orpheus costs 55000 dollarydoos m8.

That record better have never been played before, otherwise there is actually no point in any of the equipment down the line from it.

Better audio equipment indeed do produce better sounds, but audiophools are cancer of this planet.

I wonder if would even benefit from having audiophile tier sound quality with my tinnitus blaring at me all day long.
>>
Most audiophiles are probably in their 40s and can't hear frequencies above a certain point anyways.
>>
I know how to build tube amps.
Should I target these fools and make a lot of money?
Please answer I'm in a moral conundrum.
>>
>>52953175
This is a joke, if you watch the whole vid he says that at the end.

He's crying because he just realized he's an audiophile faggot and wasted his life's savings on placebo shit.
>>
>>52952073
>Are audiophiles for real or is it just a hoax?
To understand the answer to your question, you have to ask another question:
Should you trust the opinions of people whose hearing worsens every year, yet who say they have better "hearing" through "experience"?
>>
>>52952073
I don't get this shit. He's crying cause the sound is sooo Hi-Fi.

Therefore, he should cry the hell out when listening to real trumpet or a person speaking.

I mean, why people spend $$k on audio equipment that tries to emulate natural sound, if with that amount of money they can listen to the actual sound source?
>>
>>52953470
Recorded music was the real placebo the whole time
>>
Ever seen religious people speak in tongues, have spasms, or cry at the glory of god?
It's the same shit.

Try getting the same reaction out of people with double blind studies
>>
>>52953372
I shower my headphones before putting them on.

>Ever seen religious people speak in tongues, have spasms, or cry at the glory of god?

Yes. We call those lunatics.

Only make them slightly cheaper than the competition. Then it's actually a moral thing to do.

tubes are meme, i even build 2.
Every tube include harmonic distortion. to my is unacceptable, becuse we should "imporve" audio but be transparent.
>>
>>52952073
tubes are meme, i even build 2 and listen to some "audiophile eq"
Every tube include harmonic distortion. to my is unacceptable, becuse we should "imporve" audio but be transparent. In modern days you can achive it cheaply and all audiophiles masturbate to that "warm" distorded sound (same with vinyl)
To be transparency and SNR matters.
And Pass is our god (after RMS ofc)
>>
>>52953470
I once almost cried when I heard a Mongolian singer perform live.

He tuned his voice until it resonated with the room.
It was amazing because it sounded like he was surrounding the audience, as the sound waves bounced off the walls.
No audio equipment can do that - suck it audiophiles.
>>
>>52954030
hypochondria isn't a placebo or a hoax.
>>
>>52952073
Didn't he use a water bottle for those "tears" ? As part of a joke ?

It's one thing to make fun of the audiofools, but it's just as stupid to do this.
>>
>>52953175
>>52953216
>you just can't defend this guy just admit it

Yes I can:

He made that video as a joke.
You're a retard for thinking he was being serious.
>>
>>52952073
There's a difference between audiophile culture and liking faithful reproduction of your music. The later can be done for under 300 dollars.
>>
>>52952073
Someone needs to shop this so it has a speech bubble that says, "Mah 6 million", out of the headphones.
>>
>>52953175
>>52952073
Who do they think they're fooling. The best quality is ultimately live, but that doesn't make one weep
>>
>>52953182
It's like women who think they're pregnant but aren't
>>
>>52955861
>The best quality is ultimately live
No? I mean it's entirely different in a lot of ways but you can't really put sound quality and live together. A lot of live stuff use terrible PA systems which are just designed to create massive SPL and sweet spot for the large audience. Sound quality wise there's nothing to write home about there. Acoustics of most places where live music is played are often awful, too and because there is no careful mastering and mixing done(duh), it's likely going to sound much "worse" in a lot of ways than a carefully recorded and mastered album from a high quality stereo setup would.

I don't get OP's question.
>>
>>52952091
diminishing returns

its hard to justify the price for an upgrade that is multiple times the cost and not that much performance increase.

Also just because someone "can afford it", doesn't mean they should blow 5k on equipment.
>>
>>52952429
nah, raise the price higher are you would be almost completely right. but the high-end audeze, hd800s, he1000, sr009, even orpheus are all actually good and perceptibly better than cheaper stuff. how much that's worth depends on you, orpheus is obviously a ripoff but it's also a collectors item.
>>
>>52955861
>The best quality is ultimately live
you're wrong in most cases, though it differs by the kind of music. most live shows sound like ass because of shit production and venue. sure classical or opera sounds good usually but that's not most music.
>>
>>52953305
sorry but a bunch of people already thought of that and you're a no name. and if people wanna buy from no-names they'll just buy chink shit which you cant beat the price of, plus some of it is actually good. you would make more money as an enclosure designer vs actually designing the amp itself.
>>
>>52953470
yeah lemme just go back in time to the place where that was recorded. u stoopid or sumthin son?
>>
>>52952429
just so you know, they're not always placebo, sometimes they're just really fucking awesome, but the cost is not justifiable for most people

pic related is me when I sold my yamaha, feels not that good man (it's no joke that black dude came with his whole family, there's literally no way he was lying about the african parson one).

the amp was partially broke btw, that was the reason I sold it
