Whatever happened to the likes of Rasputin, DrPantsu, !Install !GENTOO, that Spice the Wolf tripfag, and the rest of the /g/ Old Guard?
Pic related, a non-exhaustive list of the 2008-09 bunch.
What happened to marisa?
What happened to jonson?
What happened to marisa's boyfriend?
What happened to the guy that posted that girl from yuriyuri and posted lua?
What happened to the funny autistic guy that used plan9?
What happened to joytime?
What happened to windows95?
She was a troll of epic proportions. Any thread that she touches turns into a trainwreck flamewar.
>Pawl is still dead
>that one time Macfag faked his death and nobody gave a shit
>2 weeks later he comes in: "JOKES ON YOU I WASNT DEAD"
They're still here, most just dropped their tripcode and post anonymously. Guess they couldn't handle the heat or were stupid enough to post pics of themselves and ended up getting doxed.
Doesn't ring a bell...
I wish there are archives that go back to 2009.
I can only remember bits and pieces of /g/ back then.
2004 bitch. But I tend to stop visiting some boards for years before returning. /g/ went full tech support some time in 2010 I think and all interesting discussion like the guy building NSA's spying infrastructure never returned. Some 5 or 6 years later all he said was kind of proven true by Snowden.
>tfw Marisa doesn't post anymore
>tfw LAMMJ doesn't post anymore
>tfw reverse doesn't post anymore
>tfw no more nand or hexafluoride
Man, where did everyone go? Tripfags aside, it seems that all the knowledgeable and fun people just left /g/ all of a sudden. Everything seems more boring than before, the old "spark" is gone forever. As time passes, this board is starting to feel more and more like reddit 2.0, and the aspect of /g/ that kept me here for hours on end a few years ago, is completely gone now.
>tfw net culture is dead
>tfw the web is becoming more like real life
>tfw no more usenet, no more bbs, no more, no more telnet games
I want the old times back.
>Tripfags aside, it seems that all the knowledgeable and fun people just left /g/ all of a sudden
I left for like half a year and all of the quoted ones stopped posting. It's just sad.
>I guess it's true that you're here forever, huh.
Kind of. Did stop coming here for a few years after 2011 or so but I returned. I'm just not spending every wake hour here anymore like in the beginning.
>Honestly though why do you still come to /g/? It's so... vapid and unoriginal nowadays.
Sometimes interesting topics show up in the catalog and I decide to participate. I like the appeal of 4chan for its ease of access. No need to register accounts and the anonymous culture is nice. No nolife postwhores with 10k+ posts thinking they have authority on something due to their amount of posts.
Most IRCs are closed groups in one way or the other.
#installgentoo is nice, as it's less skript kiddie than anonnet.
You have to linger around long enough to fit in a new community. Basically, lurk moar.
He was great entertainment back then.
Can't say I miss him though. The old style sort of artistic trolling can really get you actually frustrated.
>the guy building NSA's spying infrastructure never returned. Some 5 or 6 years later all he said was kind of proven true by Snowden.
I remember that guy. I believe it was sometime in 2006 or 2007. It was also the time I realized that governments would soon be able to track every movement on the internet and that privacy was going out the window.
It's hard to believe that Pepe started as a /b/-tier forced meme.
There are women on /g/. I'm one of them (: I considered to use a tripcode so I let you guyse know easier whenever I post in a thread. I still am not sure though. May be in the future..
It's true even cancerous ED agree with that.
Too bad for you but posting forced meme ruin every single word in your post and mean nothing but inability to express thoughts except posting unoriginal common-or-garden shit.
it's time to grow up and learn how to express thoughts independently.
I only remember some of the more crazier shenanigans from that era, like the time we took over a school district's entire website and sent hundreds of parents emergency communication texts that said "INSTALL GENTOO."
Or the time a guy told his entire life story about being a homeless tramp on /g/ and the entire board ground to a halt over how inspirational the guy's story was.
>give github account
I don't have one. I'm not a programmer, or a coder or whatever you call it.
>give irc nickname
I don't use IRC anymore. I it still used these days? It was kind of fun.
You have to give something in exchange for services. That's how life works. Unless I'm also interested in other services, money is accepted.
I honestly thought it was dead.
Some stranger actualy followed me one night as I was walking from work, few years ago. He had followed me for about 200-250 metres and actually enterde inthe apartment block that I live after me, and made his way up to the last floor to actually check that I live there and not pretend to have entered there just to get away from him.
After that he walked a few times around the block to see where kight comes off.
Don't wish that to anyone. It is awful.
Doubt. He didn't know that I was living anywhere there. And as I noticed him I tried to walk faster and he also started to walk faster.
He did enter in the apartment block hallway. I managed to get by my floor and enter quietly in my apartment while he was just entering the haallway.
>not breaking into somone elses apartment so he rapes them
oh look another psuedo oldfag circlejerk.
Every one of these threads for the past 10 years goes like this:
>I was here in x. anyone here from x?
>...okay, see you later... good to know there are some still here
Now rev up those posts and call me a newfag, then fifteen hours from now insist that 4chan is superior to reddit because it eliminates any information about the poster.
Your other alternative: become a tripfag. hint hint - that's a joke on what level of circlejerking you're getting into.
>insist that 4chan is superior to reddit because it eliminates any information about the poster.
what if i just want to insist that 4chan is better because the people here are less obnoxious?
does one thread undercutting that honestly poison the whole argument for you?
That's nowhere close to the 2008-09 bunch, more like 11-12.
i remember when that one tripfaggot used to post these things like every week. i remember making a trip and spammed shit until he put my trip on there.
ahh, the days when i had nothing better to do but spend 20 hrs a day on /g/
There are certainly a few femanons here.
But it triggers some people, and I feel identity is not really a substantive topic for discussion here anyway.
This is a blue board. You get blue tits.
