Ah you're one of those. Off the top of my head I couldn't give a specific program. Just use a free program like
I'm sure it works nicely
I guess I have a different problem then. None of the converters work for some reason.
Did you disable the fans ever? I haven't seen passive cooling like that in a while.
No the other anon is right. Your slashes are yen symbols. It'll hinder all programs. I don't even want to know why you have that
>I don't even want to know why you have that
Like I said, japanese locale. It shouldn't be an issue and all my other programs work fine.
Just converters don't.
The yen symbols act as \.
I'll change it and try right now though.
Guys, I need to get a new router. My current belkin has a very bugged 5ghz channel and just won't connect or connects with no internet all the time.
My needs are modest. I need it to go about 75 feet max on it's 2.4ghz. I need it to be reliable. AC would be nice but not totally necessary. I need it to be able to handel 100mbps which is the max my internet connection can go. I need it to reliably connect to 8 devices max. An I need it to be under 150 dollars.
I definitely don't need any fancy setting or custom firmware. My network is modest. The craziest thing I do is have all my computers on a home group and sometimes need port forwarding for a few games.
I'll add that I'm asking because I've just had bad luck with shitty routers that drop connections.
I'm not even remotely in a wifi populated area. I can see one other router that's not mine when I select my wifi, 2 if I'm upstairs.
I've been looking at the archer c7 actually. I just don't know shit and user reviews are scary. I cann't tell if the people are idiots or a router is shitty.
150 is ideal US but I CAN go over it if it matters much.
N600 is only 70USD on Amazon.
Most the negative reviews are for ''bad customer service'' which has literally nothing to do with the product. If you know how to setup a fucking router and login to it, it's perfect.
But who fucking knows.
Safe mode would bluescreen too but I figured it out. I've booted a Linux LiveCD (I had Arch image on a flash drive), downloaded all possible drivers for the new motherboard and booted Windows Repair, from then I ran the cmd.exe and used DISM (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd371719%28v=vs.85%29.aspx) to install all of the drivers, after that Windows successfully booted with brand new hardware.
I just installed 4chanx for Firefox and I'd like to know what can I do to make replies appear as smaller boxes above the original post instead of scrolling down the page until where the actual reply is located
Also to add on top of the TP link recommendation I'll list a few other routers to give you some options
Netgear R6300 or R6400
ASUS RT-AC68U or 66U
If you could go over 150 USD you could always get a Google onhub. Those guys are tight as fuck but costly
yes that's the one. the ac1750.
I actually don't know what people mean when they say set up a router. What it means to me is updating the firmware, changing it's name and password, and forwarding ports if needed for the occasion.
Plugging it in and making it work.
That's how you setup a router. If you can login to it, get it updated, and forward whatever ports, you're smarter than 95% of the people who buy routers to begin with.
Its a year and half old computer
give me a fucking break about amd meme and tell me how download all memewebms with just one click.
Specifically Seagate had one line of bad 3TB drives in 2012 which lasted mere months. The fact you can't even differ between something that happened four years ago and today's standards is pathetic
Seagate is fine.
Seagate BARRACUDA is awful and has always been awful.
Please read my fucking posts again you dumb cunt. The Barracuda line of Seagate drives is shit
Normal Seagate drives are fine, and as of 2k15 they were better than WD.
"any drive in existence" Sound like some bullshit an idiot would say
You could never, ever, get every drive in existence and objectively compare them.
Aside from that, I've had a 6tb (2x3) raid 0 array running since 2012 without an issue. All barracuda.
That doesn't change the fact that barracuda has one of the highest fail rates out of most drives.
I'm not sure why they keep making them. Their normal drives work fine.
Thanks you guys. I'll definitely make sure to change the motherboard. I thought Asrock was part of ASUS, but it looks like they split. Is Gigabyte no good?
I just noticed that Newegg has some promos for HDDs, so I might just shell out the money for one with more storage.
Is buying windows on reddit legit? I'm an australian pc shop owner and can offer better prices by buying them for 20 usd instead of 140 australian dollars, but I don't want to get in trouble.
These aren't pirated or stolen? How is it so cheap?
Let me rephrase
>Is buying windows on reddit legit?
>These aren't pirated or stolen
>How is it so cheap?
Recycled keys or some shit. Just like buying refurbished parts. Great way to save money
>Do we even have them here?
No. I'm a legitimate retail computer parts and repair shop. I'm not going to get in trouble for something stupid like that.
What do you mean by recycled? Like keys pulled from laptop stickers and shit?
So a friend says that Windows 10 only collects "telemetry". As far as I know it's satans own OS in disguise.
What else do they collect? How deep does the botnet go?
>What do you mean by recycled? Like keys pulled from laptop stickers and shit?
I'd assume the 8 keys are pulled from registry, but yes they keys would come from either a box or sticker. The main point is they are unused, and only you will have access to the key
Actually look up some facts next time, you nigger.
All of seagates drives have a high failure rate when compared to the competition.
I'd be weary of keys pulled with a key puller, as they are often placeholder numbers that Microsoft uses, and are different from the key on the back of the laptop. (at least on OEM devices)
Honestly I was talking out of my ass for the most part. I'm sure the keys are used, but the means on where they came from (ie a box with a broken CD, or a busted laptop but salvaged HDD, etc..) you would have to ask the seller. I doubt he will ever tell, but..
What's the name for those DNS TXT records that specify the address and port for certain domain services? From what I remember they start with an underscore or two, but I can't remember what they're actually called...
What's with this shit?
Okay. A bit involved.
MadVR, latest. LAV filters, too.
Windows 7, fresh as fuck install.
When I'm playing stuff and I put it into full screen exclusive mode on one monitor, it freezes as if it has been paused but pressing pause still puts it into proper pause. hitting pause again will play it like normal.
This doesn't happen on my other monitor.
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI $105
Asus Z97-E/USB3.1 $118
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3
Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 - all $120
Make sure you disable compatibility filter, if you already have a system built.
fucking around overclocking an apu
pretty sure i killed the cpu.
i've never killed a cpu from overvolting to get a good overclock, i was at like 1.55 volts on a cpu that was stock in the 1.2-1.3 range.
is this cpu dead? i pulled cmos battery and still i've got nothing.
replacement cpu is only like 40 bucks so i'm not too pissed off but this is bullshit as i've seen people online with similar voltages getting similar oc's with the same mobo's.
Why did the kernel end up in github. Isnt it dangerous when hackers see the source. What the fuck
Fuck off gigabyte makes amazing motherboards. I'm still using an 1156 p55a ud3r that's been clocked at 4.2ghz for the last 3 years worth zero issues and been in daily use for 4 years.
My dad is upgrading computer so he's passing some of his old parts down to me, including an old i7. I don't know what model exactly but the computer was built in fall 2010. What are the odds that this will still be a good CPU?
thanks (me too)
I see that this is much more complicated than FlyVPN and it doesn't have a download, etc.. I'm also a retard and I don't know how to set this shit up.
Is there a dummy's guide for setting up a temporary VPN on linux?
You can write erbgRWTERGVEDWgvdsarfgfdsag using English letters, but that does not make erbgRWTERGVEDWgvdsarfgfdsag a part of English. In the same sense, cState is not a part of C++. Hope this helps. Cheers.
Street Fighter V recommends having:
>Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz or greater
>GeForce GTX 960 2GB
I have a laptop with:
>Intel Core i7 4700MQ @ 2.40GHz
>NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m
Would I be able to run it? It runs USFIV fine on medium graphics at 768p but it struggles with a lot of modern stuff.
You don't meet the minimum requirements, which are like a desktop 480, 570, 670 or better. A 740M isn't anywhere near that.
SFIV is literally a 7 year-old console game, so being able to run it at roughly PS3 graphics isn't that great.
how is ssh using keys more secure than ssh using passwords?
cant an attacker just sniff the key the same way they sniff a password?
Attacker can't sniff neither keys no passwords.
Attacker can keep guessing passwords until he gets the right one, and due to size of keys, he can't do this with properly generated keys.
Attacker can do a man in the middle attack and get into your connection with password - but not with key.
I am trying to search an image on the /g/ archive (https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/), but reposting the image myself would get me banned, and feeding it to google reverse image search doesn't yield the /g/ post I'm looking for.
Is there a way for me to see all instances of an image on the /g/ archive without my having access to a post on that archive that includes the image? If so, how do?
I already tried the "file hash" search option by googling "how to see a file hash", clicking the third link, getting hashes from there and searching them but nothing on the archive showed up....
My computer suddenly died this morning.
Everytime I tried to log into window it gives this BSOD message
I can't even boot into safe mode or windows 10 installation disk.
Ran a memtest86+ and it shows countless errors.
Could it be a problem with my RAM / PSU / CPU or motherboard?
Reinserting the RAM doesn't help.
>keep learning about fraud, illegal online money making, money launder and such online (I considered it at the time because I was almost homeless and very depressed and desperate; I don't consider doing it anymore since I have a proper job now)
>one day, start up my computer, read even more articles about that topic; watch a video of a lecture on money laundering on YouTube
>suddenly, ads change to the picture of Bernard Madoff, with a writing on top, saying something like "11 felonies and 150 years of imprisonment", and "Do you want to end up like him?" at the bottom
>the ads were just normal ads which advertised Forex or some shit at first, but abruptly changed to this
What the fuck was that shit? Did I hallucinate? Or did someone do a Man in the Middle/DNS poisoning on my network?
Pic related isn't the picture of the ad by the way. The ad was just a picture of Madoff with some writing - there was no company name in it (like CBS news or some shit) or anything else.
My mouse feels inaccurate as fuck on my windows 7 computer and I've noticed that it feels accurate as fuck on the windows login screen.
I've tried to disable all mouse acceleration and uninstalled/reinstalled drivers yet the issue persists.
I have a 13" UHD laptop and some of my games require the DPI to be at 100% or 125% to actually function, if I set my DPI to this my screen is impossible to use with every other program and I have to log in/out every time I change the DPI %
If I were to get a large monitor (27"-34" UHD) would this mean I could keep my DPI at 100% and my resolution at 3200x1800 constantly and not have everything microscopic?
I'm trying to install CDE on OpenBSD.
While running "make World", dtlogin's Makefile spits out an error at line 784: unassociated shell command DEFINES = $(DTDEFINES) -DXDMCP
it's OpenBSD 5.8 on i386.
I'm currently using a raspi for SFTP, is it powerful enough to host a mumble server with 5-7 people also I'm assuming it would be safer to change my default ssh/sftp port and mumble server port?
After a rerun of memtest86+ with one stick at a time,
turns out one of my 2 x 4gb ram is deflective.
However even after I replaced the bad ram stick with a new one,
I still can't get pass the "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" BSOD.
Any ideas why?
About Java swing: How do I add an Icon to a JButton, but in a way that I can resize the icon inside the IDE (in my case, NetBeans), instead of having to resize the pic in protoshop and then setting it as icon?
So i built a new computer today, problem is reinstalling windows 10 the product code doesnt work. Knew this would happen, because i upgraded from windows 7...Seeing as i got the code using a program to find it, and that i no longer have the windows 7 code from the install disk any more, would the code work if i installed windows 7 then upgraded? I'm not sure if its the same code that i used when i built the first computer.
what language are you using?
>How you got Windows 10:
>You upgraded to Windows 10 (Version 1511 or higher) and activated it using a Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 product key.
Thinking about finally upgrading my pc with an ssd. Is a 120gb drive enough for win7(or 10, depending on what the future brings) and a couple of programs and/or gaymes? Can i just use something like acronis true image to migrate my shit from my hdd or is a complete reinstall necessary? What are the best brands? Is the meme about losing data after a certain amount of time true? I go on lots of 2 or more week vacations so i need something that doesn't need to be fixed every few weeks or so.
I'm trying make things happen with C++, but I'm just asking about the general technique approach.
I know that C++ doesn't have many HTML parsers, hence I'm wondering about converting HTML to XML and then parsing that using pugixml, but I'm not fully sure if this approach is as efficient than, say, manually parsing the HTML.
I will ask a question and answer it, since it took me a long time to realize whats happening. Hopefully it will be useful to some.
Question: My Start Menu wont appear in Windows 10. What the fuck.
Answer: Your Start Menu app crashed. Restarting the PC will fix it. However, Microsoft has this new shut down system, where the PC doesnt actually shut down; it sort of hibernates, and all the Windows Apps have their state saved. The solution is to shut down your PC by pulling the plug, waiting a while, and plugging it back in. Yes, that the fucking solution. No, you cant turn off the option for Microsoft's new shut down, because the advanced Power Options crash at the same time as the Start Menu and it wont let you. No, you cant reinstall or relaunch the app manually, because LOL MICROSOFT.
I have a GIF I want to convert to a webm to use on a website. The problem is that I want the background of the webm to be transparent. Since to my knowledge webm doesn't support transparency, I figured that I could just make the video's background the same color as my site's background. Then I tried to edit the GIF's background, and I realized that GIF as a format doesn't support the color I need. Editing the background after I've converted the GIF to a webm seems to be pretty difficult as well.
How the fuck do I do this?
Looks fine, but how do you build and install it on a windows system?
I'm a complete retard when it comes to external libraries with C++ that don't include their own installation instructions.
>and I realized that GIF as a format doesn't support the color I need
gifs support external pallets man. you can have whatever color you want.
and google adding cpp library to VS project
webms support transparency, firefox doesn't (last time i checked). pic related, open it in opera or chrome.
I'm trying to install Citrix Receiver on a new PC. When the installation has finished, after I restart the computer I can't boot into windows and I get a black screen.
I then have to reinstall Windows to get my PC to work again (repair and restore doesn't work)
What the fuck is going wrong?
Is it because of Skylake? Are monitors are too big (QHD)?
I've tried this 4 times and its pissing me off.
>Windows 7 SP1
Anyone know what this is? When the pattern is shown, the entire horizontal pixel line shits itself.
I'll post the pattern in a minute.
Any light on where I can find the answer to this?int a = 5;
int* b = &a;
int* c = new int(5);
std::cout << b << std::endl; //0x7ffe05cccbd4
std::cout << c << std::endl; //0x1306c20
Why is the address of the first int twice as long as the address of the second int? Are they stored differently?
How do I,in bash, create a variable that included alpha numeric and special characters.
Currently it throws a bitch fit if they file name has any symbols.I've tried ""$var"" but it still isnt allowing the filename to pass
They are the same size, checksizeof(b) == sizeof(c)
The difference is b points to stack memory while c points to heap memory.
Stack memory seems to start at high address range at your computer while heap begins at low address range
Will a DVI -> HDMI adapter fix the 24 Hz problems in certain games like Crysis 2 and Metal Gear Rising?
Sure there are some work arounds like not going full screen, etc., but I'm curious if using the DVI -> HDMI method will also work. I'm using my HDTV as monitor, yes.
I accidentally connected a graphics card while my computer was turned off but plugged into a wall outlet with the PSU switch turned on. Everything still seems to work fine, but could this cause any damage that isn't immediately apparent? If there is damage from ESD or some other electrical cause, would the computer stop working altogether, or could there just be degraded performance?
120gb can be enough, but not for games. I would go for 250gb they are cheaper nowadays in any case. Go for samsung's. They also give you a utility to clone successfully your hard drive, and it works pretty good. The thing about data if not powered is true but it's for a far longer time, like one year.
What's the best registry cleaner / fixer program?
I have read that wifi has issues of its own when playing games.
Using powerline I get 5.5MB/s, wifi gets me 6.5MB/s and same kind of upload of 0.4.
I guess that wifi is outright better unless the speed dips in this case?
Can some nice anon explain me binary system as simply as possible? Thanks
Pinging the router gave 5ms consistently for powerline and 3ms-25ms using wifi. I don't feel think that latency would be a problem that low but think i'll stick to wired apart from mass downloading then.
>"I refuted that claim"
>with anecdotal evidence
How do I deal with this? That shit overheat that much just by running KOTOR 2. Would changing the thermal paste change anything?
Anything I do makes it overheat.
Is it possible at all to use a router (or big ass outdoor AP in my case) as a simple adapter?
I can make bridge connections and whatnot if i know the address, but i'd like to use it as antenna. Connected to laptop or pc via cat5, allowing me to search for nearby wireless networks from os level.
Of course i can take out the antenna bit and run it's cable straight to wireless adapter in my machine but i think that's not the brightest solution.
So I'm using noobuntu 15.10.
And I'm wondering if I can extend my OS partition with another HDD.
So I got this 500GB HDD I wanna extend my OS partition which is a 70GB SSD. Is it possible? Can I just add that space to that partition?
I'm the IT grunt in a small company. I need some help finding an easy way to upgrade our 30 PCs to Windows 10 without having to deal with retarded apps on every install. How to I strip all that shit and do in-place upgrades from 7 to 10 without going mad?
What can be done if you discover that a website has been hijacked by a fedora-hat and now serves trojans?
Can something like this be reported somewhere to prevent people from accidentally downloading shit onto their machines?
Do you have an OEM key?
If you do just do an install and make an image of that install and flash it to the system once its been activated.
User data should be on a server instead of on the os.
How can I have the sound go out through both my Headphones & my TV (HDMI) in win 7?
I can only choose one under 'Playback devices'.
I found a hack using 'Stereo Mix' under 'Recording devices', but then I can't use my mic.
User data is not on the server plus the users need to be able to install their own programs and shit. I need to do an in-place upgrade but I don't want them messing with retarded bullshit like Cortana or more fucking shit like that.
Of course I have oem keys for every machine.
What kind of graphics card will fit in my motherboard?
>Buy a dac
thanks, I actually fell for the HD598 meme so I actually have a Fiio e10k on hand, just plugged my external speakers to the back and set them up near my TV. Didn't realize I could do that.
Why do you need software?
This is how they teach typing in every middle school and high school.
Find a book and start typing it.
You will start getting in to a flow and you will increase your wpm
You cant really do anything automated. Your system is decentralized. And you're trying to apply it globally. You cant disable cortana or most of the features. Do you absolutely with a gun against your head need windows 10?
Why do you need to upgrade?
>Be in mumble with bros
>Been using push to talk for ages
>Decide to try continuous since the game we're playing uses a controller and I'd like some live bantz
>Problem is when I set it to that people can hear themselves through my mic for double feedback
>It's really annoying for them
Any mumble users here? Am I missing a setting or something? This sucks ass.
i just installed an external hard drive for xbox one, formatted it for games and apps, and set it as the default installer but every time i try to install something it says not enough space even though in the bottom left it says 4.5 TB free. what the fuck is going on
I recently tried connecting my
Macbook Pro
to an external monitor, using an HDMI -> Mini DP cable hooked up to a Mini DP -> DP adapter going to the monitor, and it didn't work.
Would the amount of adapters be at fault here?
What is that application that everyone uses to check a hard drives health?
To the people who walked me through buying a new router. Thanks a lot for your help. i ended up getting a more expensive router than I suggested for my price range. I ended up with the netgear x5s and it is blazing fast. It's insane. I'm getting all 100mbps through wifi, 50 feet away and through a plaster wall. It's nice. I can stream 4k content no problem and no buffering.
Am I going crazy?
Pretty sure that's the same integral as every other line
That's just temps.
It's a poorly designed seagate external enclosure and the drive is currently transferring about 500gb to my new drive.
Already am. Just want to know if the drive is worth using as an extra backup if I leave it off in a drawer or something.
You can get a very cheap SPL meter at ratshack that works well. An app wouldn't work well since your environment is such a huge factor when listening to sound traveling through space. I used it with my headphones to dial in an appropriate volume, particularly in public.
That's kind of true unless you already have even minor hearing damage. You can easily damage your hearing over long periods of time by slightly turning up the volume to compensate for your hearing damage that you probably don't yet know you've suffered.
Can anyone please give me some advice on what laptop I should buy? My budget is 2k and I'm looking for something that doesn't weigh as much as your nan (I fell for the gaming laptop meme). A lot of them, excluding HP ones, look really good spec wise for the price. But after extensive research I always find that they have some deal breaking flaw. Like having shitty build quality, laughable battery time or basically being an oven with a cpu.
Lenovo's T460s looks nice.
my PC is running slowly, ever since I made it. But when I made it I bought a seagate 500gb ram to make sure that it wouldnt be slow. People recommend 8 gb or 16 gb but i dont understand why it is slow when I have 500. Thanks for the suggestions!
I've been trying to find an appropriate motherboard for a skylake xeon. From research it seems you need a c232 or c236 chipset in order for everything (incl ECC) to work properly.
Problem is i'm having difficulty finding a supplier which actually sells such motherboards in the UK. At best i've found supermicro boards for sale with c232/c236 and a single gigabyte atx board with a 232 chipset. Not really a great selection to be honest.
Naturally, if I look for boards which support skylake i3/i5/i7 there seem to be tons available from various manufacturers. What gives /g/? Should I wait a few more months for the home workstation market for skylake stuff to pick up?
I recently built a new pc for the first time.
Everything is working fine except one thing.
The front USB2.0 ports wont detect devices. I know they're hooked up because I can see them in my device manager. But plugging into them nets no result.
The USB3.0 ports right next to them work fine.
Trying to update drivers through the device manager says I am up to date but I have trouble believing that.
What am I doing wrong?
Also one of my case fans makes a noise like it has baseball cards in its spokes when starting up but once at full speed it stops, is that fine?
>$90 on an air cooler
>500gb non SSD
>550w PoS PSU
If you want me to suggest something, I will, no problem, but this isn't exactly best price/performance
