i told you faggots that 3d tvs are just a dumb gimmick and the death of 3d tvs is starting
also i think the same thing will happen to VR, but not as bad, it will just stay niche and not start a new generation of gaming
Link is the German version of the original sauce: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/3d-television-dead-samsung-lg-cut-back-3d-tv-production-1542580
>Just a few short years after 3D burst into our living rooms claiming to be the future of television, it is dead. The technology was barely mentioned at the CES technology show in January 2016, and now both LG and Samsung have cut back their use of 3D.
You are absolutely retarded and ignorant.
No one wanted 3D though, I sure as hell didn't. I do have a passive 3D-capable TV since you practically can't buy one without and I tried it only once or twice. It was amusing but I just don't watch TV anymore.
VR is different though, everyone wants VR, at least I sure as hell do. To compare the two is just ignorant, a fancy visual effect is not the same as full immersion.
3D was the dead the moment people used it.
It never got grassroots hype. Oculus Rift is following the exact opposite trajectory. Everyone is talking about it and the pre-order hype is intense.
He's right though. This is an American board on American servers.
The future will be American English. No one even speaks nazi anymore. Last time I visited Germany, most of you guys speak american english anyway. Let's keep it that way.
I'm not American and I know three languages, but none of them happen to be German and I have no interest in learning it.
Germans are the ignorant ones, dubbing all their shit and being shit at English (and any other languages), therefore everyone else should boycott German.
>That's not how you write Chinese
Nobody will ever write Chinese. Ching-chong has a horrible learning curve for mass assimilation.
If the Chinese dominate the world, it will be through English.
All TVs released past 2013 are utter bullshit.
But if you don't play anything, then something like ghosting and input lag is a non issue.
But for anyone else 99% of displays are not useable.
TVs are for watching TV (movies, series, news, etc.) and not for playing games.
It's because those 3D TVs for home use suck. Instead of using the same technology as in cinemas, where you can just wear specially polarized glasses, you need special shutter glasses that sync with the TV. They are a lot more expensive and you need batteries.
Jews got only themselves to blame.
>It's because those 3D TVs for home use suck. Instead of using the same technology as in cinemas, where you can just wear specially polarized glasses, you need special shutter glasses that sync with the TV
this is objectively false
But philips doesn't even produce TVs anymore. Haven't done so for years.
It's just some shit company (TP Vision iirc) that gets to use the name.
Also 3D TVs have always been dumb shit
Too much of a hassle with the glasses and shit. Tech didn't work well enough (sweet spots, flicker, dimness, etc).
But most importantly, it didn't significantly add to the experience. It's a useless gimmick.
I didn't even need you Anon shmuck telling me this. During my lifetime that 3D bullshit rose and died, like, twice already. It's an unnecessary gimmick crap that no one needs and, most of all, no one likes.
>it wont happen with 4k because 4k is useufl
Literally nobody but the TV manufacturers thought 3DTV would catch on. You're not special for predicting such an obvious death.
VR is going to be around for a long time, but it's never going to be a mainstream thing because just like 3D it can't be enjoyed by a room full of people at the same time without lots of expensive equipment.
Sure, 3D television is virtually dead right now, but it will be resurrected in the near future.
People seek the best possible experience when they look at a screen. The first television were small, you could hardly see a thing. Over time, its size has developed into huge screens covering an entire wall. (Television) screens are playing an increasingly significant role in our lives and will continue to do so. We always seek the ultimate experience, which is why we went to see a movie in the theatre. There was a huge screen we don't have at home
Screens have been getting bigger in regard to smartphones as well btw. Look at Samsung Galaxy, Iphone, even Ipads.
The technology was simple not ready yet. There are numerous pitfalls for example when I used to wear those annoying glasses my head would hurt.
Sure, there is a lot of progress to be made but it will come back.
Also, 3D glasses were too expensive. Similarly, when companies started selling projectors, sales were disappointing. It was expensive, and you can only watch it in the dark, and who wants an expensive television you can only watch in the dark? You basically require an entire room, just for the purpose of the projector; which wasn't a viable option for everyone.
Now that the technology has improved (it is possible to watch it in daylight) and prices have become cheaper, you'll notice a significant increase in projector sales over the coming years. I expect the same resurrection to occur for 3D television.
>you can only watch it in the dark, and who wants an expensive television you can only watch in the dark? You basically require an entire room, just for the purpose of the projector; which wasn't a viable option for everyone.
But you should only be watching TV at night, after your work is done
sony released a couple polerized television sets
AKA: thats how the movie theater work, and glasses are <$10 a pop.
Shit looked pretty decently
also, dunno if they still keept up with the feature but this was the coolest thing since sliced bread
>have 3d tv
>ps3 games goes splitscreen
>fuck that noise you have two pairs of glasses
>3d vanished but you now each have a fullscreen instead of splitscreen
sadly i think it needs to be developed for each game, not a magical feature like remote play.
120fps also won't happen in a decent monitor because all the decent ones are IPS.
All those TN babies think their muted monitors are better because they get 120 frames?
60 is the absolute sweet spot in motion. I;d rather sacrifice a shitty meme refresh rate for better colour replication
Unless VR can garantee that I'll be able to have a 2D VR loli waifu like pic related I want no part of it.
>3d tvs are just a dumb gimmick
3D is a dumb gimmick
People willingly pay 5$ to wear plastic goggles for 2 hours while the visual cues already exist in standard film for your brain to percieve three dimensions without forethought.
At least as it's been implemented stereoscopy just makes parts of the image look out of place.
That or 3d tends to be marketed for films that don't have a leg to stand on without added gimmick.
If you are used to CRTs, you will instantly notice the 2 frames delay after you pushed some button and nothing happens.
All the recent TVs have an input lag of beyond 2 frames, which is massive.
>TVs are for watching TV (movies, series, news, etc.) and not for playing games.
What are video consoles?
if you do some research before you buy, you can find a TV with pretty good input lag, almost comparable to a monitor. 2014 sony models were especially good, 2015 samsungs weren't tooo bad either
>3D television is virtually dead right now, but it will be resurrected in the near future.
If screens are still important in the future. There's also a likelihood that people will get put off by having to stare at a screen most of the day, whether it's for work or play.
It's also possible that the tech bubble will burst and people will be interested in something else, and lose interest in technology.
>American board on American servers
Are you brain dead or what ?
why does the viewing distance scale up to 45 feet?
who sits away 45 feet from their monitor?
look at the graph you posted. at 2.5 feet it says you will notice the benefit of 4k. Why do you try to refute your own point?
The problem with VR is people don't want googles. They want mental links like SAO or Holodecks like star trek
Is this supposed to be news? 3D on TVs was always shit but that doesn't mean 3D is dead. It's still very alive and well for cinema where it actually works okay. That's the whole point of why studios are pushing 3D in the first place dumbo. TV manufacturers had nothing to do with it. Studios need something to keep the box office numbers high and it actually benefits them that 3DTVs are so garbage.
VR is a gimmick and has been since it first came out in the early 90s.
AR on the other hand is the future. It's just a matter of making shit like Google Glass and Ms hololens less faggot looking
Make 3D TV's that work without glasses(similar to the Nintendo 3DS) or get the fucking fuck out is my fucking motto
I fucking hate wearing glasses that make everything dark as shit and make my eyes uncomfortable
0
in CRT Projectors...or Laser ones like the Picopro/Sony MPCL1 Mini Projectors(which goes upto 120 inches via autofocus but has shit lighting at the moment especially at 120inch and is only useable in the dark)
why are they uncomfortable? I wear regular glasses almost 99% of my waking hours. You need to man up.
>If Nintendo managed to make 3D without glasses
The 3DS doesn't have "good" 3D. They have the same type of 3d you get when you buy one of those 3d posters at walmart for 99 cents,
>why are they uncomfortable?
>I wear regular glasses almost 99% of my waking hours
You directly contradicted yourself here...ofc it will be easy to you who are used to them from wearing them all the time
Also...glasses have always made me uncomfortable,it hurts my nose(I have a slightly crooked nose so maybe that's part of the reason) and I start to get a headache from wearing them...it feels like I can't breathe
I'm not exactly crazy about 3D in the first place
It'd just be a cool thing to have...but not if I have to wear glasses for it
Didn't Nintendo improve the 3D with the New 3DS by using IPS Displays?
Anyways if it's been done by Nintendo I'm sure display manufacturers could do some R&D and find of a way to implement in on TV's in the future(in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they've been working on it secretly for quite some time now)
That's also probably the only way 3D would ever become widespread
Fuck you stupid americunts and your stupid imperial system.
Also, britbong english is the true english, not that bastardisation you use in the land of the free to be wage slaves.
