Do you have a tablet? And if so, what do you do with it?
But mainly graphic design. I have an iPad Pro connected via Astro Pad on a hackintosh. Works wonders actually, it's a better overall package than a Wacom Cintiq.
I traded my ps3 for an Asus Vivo yesterday
Dont know what I want to do with it yet but I can flip it for more money or give it to my mother for her birthday.
I want to flip this bitch so bad Its a nice chunk of money.
>yoga tablet 2 8"
built in stand and front facing speakers are based
45 minute commute to london
portable porn viewer
110% completely legal downloads, honest
But it is, I can remove it from my computer and still sketch shit on the god. Pencil tilt is pretty decent.
There are a few downsides obviously, like it only working on OSX and the pencil not having additional buttons.
I didn't test it. It should work through astro pad. Their website says that the application was only tested on OSX 10.9. Will give it a try later.
One iPad2 I use exclusively as a remote controller for some audio apps using hexler's touchOSC and custom built layouts.
Used to have a Nexus 7 2013 but sold it because I didn't really use it that much.
>Nexus 7 2012
>Manga & Anime
>Comics & Books
>4Chan & Youtube.
Because of my job, I end up too tired to turn on my PC, So I just end up do some of the stuff on it.
And end up sleeping while listening to some heart beat ASMR.
Also I ported some VNs that use ren'py to play it.
Alreader and MoonReader.
Literally nothing, bought it new for 37 bux. Refurbished Tabeo, the failed toys r us tablet.
It's trash and though I got it rooted I did nothing other than install Debian on it and threw it in a drawer
has largely replaced my faptop.
iOS fukken blows though. No native webm support, no way of hiding pics and magnified iPhone apps hinders my fapping experience.
Thinking of switching to something like a Dell Venue 11 pro so I can sell my laptop that's gathering dust.
Thoughts on the Nexus 9? I was thinking of upgrading my Moto G to an 5x, but I'm thinking maybe I'd be better off with a tablet.
Can we have a list of suggestions for apps, Preferably tablet optimized apps?
>F-Droid for freetard apps
>Adaway to block ads on rooted devices
>Piktures or neutered Quickpic for images
>VLC or MX Player for videos
>Amaze file manager
>Firefox for its addon support, Lightning or Naked Browser for their performance
>Games: 2048, Chess, Pixel Dungeon
expensive, dull, no SD slot
apart from the nexus name what actually makes you want this?
the way i see it the only reason to get a tablet is having a bigger screen (for watching videos) than your phone while you're traveling so it doesn't need to be powerful, just a good screen and good battery life
Pick your poison /g/
>12" or more tablets
I think 9.7" tablets are the best for one hand use, after that they became too big and overweight for long peridos of time
go ahead and explain why windows is better than a mobile OS
i carry both an android and window tablet daily, windows is so un-touch freindly even at 1280x800 with low dpi. android power management is miles better and its objectively quicker and easier to use
I expect my tablet to do more than my phone. With that big of a screen a mobile OS would be a waste. Plus this way I can use real programs instead of smartphone apps. If I ever want/need something Android I can always just reboot.
You can find them for ~$200 now. I don't think that's too expensive for a tablet. I also stream virtually all my media so storage isn't really a problem.
The design, the updates, 4:3 aspect ratio, 9" screen is why I want it. I just wanna know if there are any performance issues, or build issues the tablet might have.
I don't need specific examples, desktop applications are just better. I can't really give too many right now anyway, I haven't used Windows on my tablet in quite a while. It's got Windows 10 so it's basically being used as an Android tablet till I get around to installing Windows 8
Yes I own the first gen iPad
I watch anime and movies on it
Also sometimes read comics, manga, and books
It's pretty shit for web browsing tho, today's websites are heavy as fuck so it keeps crashing all the time. My brother owns a mipad, it's great for everything
>he thinks smartphone apps are better or at least equivalent to desktop applications
Please tell me you're not actually this retarded.
Since you're whining so much for a specific example, Opera 12.16 is all the reason I need
>browsing the web, checking email, watching movies
you can do all of that with android and get better battery life
what pc games are you playing on a tablet and how(controls)? do you carry a tablet stand, OTG cable and a keyboard+mouse?
>Please tell me what advantages Opera Browser has over a mobile browser
integrated userjs support
And a plethora of other features
>Please tell me what advantages Opera Email has over a mobile email client.
It's the best client, and an additional plus since it's integrated into my browser.
>you can do all of that with android and get better battery life
This is assuming that every single thing I use on Windows is available on Android. That is false. Also yes I can do most of those things, but 8 hours of battery is more than enough so I could't really give less of a shit. I'm not going to use shittier everything software-wise just for additional battery life I don't need
And what about Opera Mail, Opera Turbo, tab stacks, etc.? Firefox on the desktop can't even do this shit and you expect me to believe that the Android version can?
You still haven't explained how this is better than any other email client
Get better internet you fag
Firefox has had tab grouping for a while and features like those are only for autists who have a need to keep 20+ tabs open at a time for some retarded reason
>not naming games
a tablet isn't powerful enough to play many worthwhile PC games
are you aware of how autistic you look setting up that shit to play games? where are you even doing this?
>You still haven't explained how this is better than any other email client
Actually I did
>and an additional plus since it's integrated into my browser
All that really matters is I prefer it and it's not available on Android.
>Get better internet you fag
It's a tablet you fucking dipshit, it's mainly used on mobile Internet
>Fx tab groups
It does, and I prefer Opera's implementation.
I'm not your personal search engine, if you want to know some games that play well on a tablet fucking google it yourself.
>are you aware of how autistic you look setting up that shit to play games?
Do you think I'm even remotely close to giving a shit?
It being built into the browser is enough to make it better. Not to mention that as a standalone client it's still better than any other. If you're interested in why you're free to look into it.
How is being built into the browser an advantage? I seriously can't imagine how long you have to spend reading emails for whatever inane features of Opera Mail that you claim are advantages to even matter.
My browser's always open, with that there's no need for a mail client to run in the background. Normally when emailing someone it's clicking a link from a webpage, why leave my browser when I can have the necessary tools built in? It's convenient as fuck and shows up as a tab, so you can switch between your mail client and browser tabs without ever switching applications
does it just mirror the display or is it app specific, i could never get an awnser for this question
what do you make of the new model? (smaller, different projector mounting point, etc)
You've just got to try it, it's a far superior way to browse the web. I've already explained it's advantages and you're just not catching on, this argument's not going to progress till you try it firsthand
No you haven't. Think of a web browser and an email client, instead of being separate applications, being "tabs" of the operating system. Now explain to me how your situation is any different.
I've only ever used it for watching my Chinese cartoons so as far as I know it only mirrors the display. I see the new model as more of a sidegrade than a true upgrade. I remember checking specs and the projector being slightly better along with a slightly better processor. Build quality is probably better though; the cheap plastic back can flex on you. 13.3 is pretty nice for manga/comics.
I'm done, I've spent more than enough time telling you advantages and in the end I find it to be superior, which given I'm the one running the application on my device, that's all that fucking matters
I have a Dell x86 tablet, don't remember its name. I actually don't do that much with it because I have a laptop and a tower PC and I just don't know what I should use the tablet for.
However, I'm always thinking about getting either an iPad mini and/or that ridiculously cheap Amazon Fire tablet. Don't know what I'd do with those either.
Tablets are dead, in our store some people buy chinese android tablets with Frozen or Disney logos, but is another dead technology.
I don't think that the technology is dead, there's just no reason to buy a new tablet once you have one. Bought an iPad in the last couple of years? It's still good to go. Got some Android tablet? It works just as well for watching videos and looking things up on the Internet.
High-end x86 tablets like the Surface line are something completely different though and are laptop competitors. Who knows how that will turn out.
Android tablets are terrible : 800 x 480 screens, 4GB storage and weak cpus.
we, /g/ prefer ipads with retina, but the average normie is poor for pay $1000 USD ipads
>Nvidia SHIELD tablet
Mostly it's for games. I have the controller and an HDMI cable to connect it to my TV. I play emulators on it (mostly psx and gba) and I have a few Android games (every Final Fantasy Android port, Wayward Souls)
Sorry come back when your retina display has as high a res as my nexus 10.
I bought a Nexus 9 for home streaming use and couldn't be happier with it. Until 6.0 landed I had some very noticeable slowdown after a few days, but that's not an issue anymore.
I was happy paying $300, $200 would be a steal if you ask me.
Never had a tablet before. Thinking of getting a really cheap one from amazon with a 7 inch 1024x600 IPS screen for manga and youtube in bed/on the train. I can get it for just less than 50euro. Is that resolution at 7inch doable?
No. I had a first gen Nexus 7 with a 1280x800 resolution and it was terrible for reading books because you could count the pixels on each letter.
The second gen at 1920x1200 is ok but not awesome.
I've got a Chuwi Hi8 and it's a great tablet, Windows 10/Android dual boot, but I'd wait for the Chuwi Hi8 Pro if you go for a Chuwi tablet, maybe it's out now, I haven't really been keeping up.
Darn. Any Chance it might work out for manga? There's less words on page than a book.
Too bad there aren't any tablets with good screens that don't cost as much as a laptop here in euroland.
i had a 1st gen nexus 7, have two 2nd gens at work. i loved my gen1 and read news on it daily, gutted than i managed to smash it.
the fire 7 is cheap, very cheap.... but i'd reccomend a used gen2 nexus 7 over it desu
Well shit, any reccomendations then? Can't get the fire 7, since Belgium is apparently the only country in the world that amazon doesn't sell its tablets to. Nexus 7 is pretty expensive here, I can't find one under 180euro at first glance, and that one has a scratch on the front. It doesn't have to be 7inch by the way.
i've got a lenovo yoga tab 2 8"
i like it but had to clean it up and make it less like a wannabe ipad
desu a cheaper lenovo tablet is probably fine too, what are you going to use it for?
iPad 3 I've had for 4+ years.
Shitposting, anime, pron.
Battery is still great, 3-4 days moderate use on a single charge.
I have a 1st gen Kindle Fire. I want to root it, but I'm scurred. Maxthon browser kinda sucks, so I just use my laptop. I have a few books, I really need to get some more and read more
I have a nexus 9, i mostly like it. For some reason some of the software support is rubbish though, despite having a slightly better processor than the Nvidia Shield.
I don't know why tegra shit isn't supported on here.
Would love a keyboard for it, but the official folio case is too pricy. Any decent cheap ones?
Should have gotten a tablet for Xmas instead of a new phone. Caught myself playing so many games, bet it's much more comfy on a tablet.
Dunno. I've never had a tablet before so anything is fine right now. I'm using my PsVita right now, and that has like a 5 inch screen. It's just a bitch to actually put files on.
still 10" sounds good
i'me a fan of the lenovo tablets, nice aesthetics and usually facing speakers+SD slot
a samsung tab is probably fine too if it has those things, just install another launcher either way
Before buying a tablet search for accsesories
I sold my LG G Pad 8.3 because I couldn't find a stand, a screen protector or a case.
Tablets NEED some type of stand, even if it comes with the case.
I dunno I just download them...
Hahahah nah I am really serious I don't look at the resolution of the films because I do also use Netflix and other streaming sites as well as downloads that look much better.
that's exactly one reason why i love my yoga 2 so much, built in stand
not an accessory that uglies it up as an after thought
Is there even any tablet shipped with Linux yet?
>I miss tablet interface edition.
I own few, with variable degree of satisfaction.
Lenovo Miix 2, 8'. As far as tablets go, this is dreadful. Desktop windows is a failure on the go and inherent design flaws, mainly being cheap and thus underpowered means that in comparison even to shitty tablets running on android, it fails.
As a portable windows device thou..I've needed replacement for aging EEE 900, Miix delivered that in even smaller package than netbook. 3/5
Nexus 7, first gen. Sold it sometime ago, before it's storage started degrading. Awesome device, great battery life but lack of sd card slot meant it had to go.
>yoga tablet 2
I've got first gen myself, I am probablyspoiled by kickstand enough that I won't be buying any other tablet in the future. Also, picoprojector.
Cheap 10' and 7' tablets that hang on walls and act as security monitors/weather stations. Cheaper than dedicated solutions and in a pinch can act as normal android devices, albeit poorly due to low specs.
My main mobile device when at uni. Awesome form factor, laughably resolution and high hipster factor but also great typing experience.
8" is sweet spot between portability and screen size for me.
10' is acceptable if in 4:3 form factor.
12' are great when used in living room as multimedia hub or, in case of Galaxy Note, poor mans graphic tablet.
I've been using Notes since first gen and still find tablet useful for some tasks. Then again, I find typing on tablet a form of primitive torture so it is mostly media consumption/games. But that is only me and there is something to be said about carrying only one device around.
What he said. I've cycled through few tablets myself, found Yoga line and now I feel no need to upgrade just because next gen device popped up. Same deal with phone, Note 3 is still more than enough for new software and in raw power comparison.
Samsung is usually a safe bet here.
Movies, mostly from devices memory but lately some netflix too.
Games. I literally bought android tablet because of portable editions of Bioware games and emulators. Some native titles are awesome too, Uplink or banner saga to name few.
Manga and comic books. No reading, cheap 5' e-ink reader for that.
With BT keyboard, notes taking solution for uni.
And usual stuff, mails, web, navigation.
>MFW pic related, Lenovo Yoga just slides into mx-5's dashboard.
>MonHun on a tablet.
How is it as a hunter game? As dreadful as expected?
Yoga. Just buy Yoga.
This here is just the right type of "innovation" market needs. This shouldn't be a one device only feature, alas, stupidly high resolution is a thing now, ergonomy, not so much.
And I want my physical keys back, dammit.
I want a tablet that:
>is not samsung
>bigger than 8'
>good screen that has or can use on a precision/hard tip stylus not that cheap rubbery end ones (i need it to use Sketchbook Pro
>cheap as possible, even chink tabs will do
sorry for the weird descriptions. I don't know about tablets. I have only used a Galaxy Note8 in the past for a bit.
nexus 7, original kindle fire, and newest kindle fire.
Only bought the nexus, and it's pretty much all I use. Just watching garbage to go to sleep is about all I do on it.
The keyboard takes some getting used to, although the keys are a bit more shallower than laptop keyboards, it has real satisfying clicks which helps with typing speed and accuracy. The trackpad is exactly like a Mac trackpad, it's just smaller so you pretty much have to enable tap to click.
The screen is absolutely top notch, it is made by Panasonic and is tested to be one of the most accurate computer displays ever made by Displaymate.
For drawing, it is very decent. It works absolutely perfect when you do long, fast strokes, the cursor is always exactly under the pen tip. It does suffer when drawing diagonal lines slowly, which doesn't affect the way I draw. Palm rejection is alright, you can turn off finger touch if you only want to use the pen with the display.
It's cool, I was just wary because of the emoji. I'll trust your assessment that it's a solid tablet, other reviews seem to concur with you. I just have to figure out if I want to spend 150-160 euro on what's going to be a glorified manga reader.
I'd personally just use a regular laptop for what you're doing, because it looks like you wouldn't be taking advantage of the tablet features. Because to be honest, using Windows as an iPad-like tablet kinda sucks.
The most intensive thing I run on it is Skyrim, Low-med settings at 1280x800, plays at 35-50FPS. The Atom X7 is pretty potent considering that it's a fanless chip and it doesn't throttle at all in contrast to the shitty Core M chips that Intel made.
>Do you have a tablet?
Original release iPad
>what do you do with it?
PornPad for the most part. It does video surprisingly poorly.
I did buy an iPad 3, but my family has pretty much taken over it.
This mofo right here
browse the internet
read books and comics
play pre 2006 games
Aside from the BOTNET, windows10 works great.
Lenovo Tab2 A10-70L
Honestly it's pretty fucking great, no ugly android skin is a big plus, 2GB of ram is plenty for normal use and it has a 1920x1200 screen.
I use it for
browsing the internet
watching youtube in bed
>Lenovo Tab2 A10-70L
Not him but have the tablet. Sound quality is generally a bit shit, but I'm completely baffled by the RF speakers. You can barely hear it unless you put the tablet next to a wall.
Other than that it's a solid device. I mainly just use it for watching TV shows on public transport and YouTUbe in bed, got a couple games but they usually play better on my iPhone.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1"
Designated Clover machine. I don't even know why I still have this thing.
Kobo Aura H2O (it's a tablet, right?) 6.8"
Reading books and mango
Thinkpad X200 Tablet 12.1"
galaxy tab 8.0 running cm11
i use it to
>watch tv shows/movies/youtube/twitch/anime in bed
>play clash of clans
thats it. i use it like 15 hours a day pretty much everyday. yes i'm a neet
I've got a Nexus 7 2013 that I picked up for $130. I pretty much use it for all of my surfing and reading. It's not much slower than my pc, to be honest, and much more comfortable.
I use my old nexus 7 2013 running cm 12.1. It has gotten old and there is a weird line on the screen where it is starting to give out, and the screen is a fingerprint magnet, but it is comfy though
I'm also running a Nexus 7 2013 until the new Shield tablet comes out sometime early this year. I read books, watch movies/youtube on my commute, shit post on /g/, chromecast, instagram etc. A lot of people talk shit about tablets but I use mine everyday for a lot of stuff so, meh.
