anime hasn't been relevant in over 10 years now, right?

i mean, once you hit the age of 25, it becomes virtually impossible to enjoy anime, right?
or maybe age 30 the latest

i mean, 4chan was founded on anime, but thats only because everyone was younger and it was during a time when it was OK to enjoy retarded shit, RIGHT??

nobody seriously watches anime anymore or keeps images of anime on their harddrives RIGHT??

What are the signs that CG is present?

-Etymotic bashing (spamming anti-Etymotic images, claiming: no bass, poor durability, poor comfort, poor customer service, etc.)
-Beyerdynamic DT770/DT880/DT990 bashing (claiming: poor durability, ear raping treble, no mids, etc.)
-STAX bashing (claiming: tinny, veiled, no bass, poor durability, etc.)
-Sennheiser shilling (shills the HD558 and HD600 excessively)
-MA900 shilling (claims it's the ComfyGod)
-DT250 shilling
-CD900ST bashing
-Claiming the O2 is a hiss monster
-Claiming the K701 is tinny, bright and has no bass
-Claiming the M50 has nigger bass (often comparing it to Beats) and that it's uncomfortable
-Claiming the K712 has nigger bass (often with a Headroom graph comparing it to a Beats headphone and various racist memes)
-Pretending to be a consumer interested in purchasing headphones to respond to himself and shill certain headphones (samefagging)
-Replying to his own posts with text patterns such as "I agree." and "This." (samefagging)
-Creating fabricated stories to bash/shill certain products
-Quoting posts and replying with nothing but an anime girl reaction image
-Inability to back up his opinions with a picture and timestamp of his headphone collection
-Claiming that the waifus of various posters are whores (often in his image filenames, namely Houki Shinonono and Ritsu Tainaka)
-Samefagging that the "Ety Shill" got rekt/told/owned/etc. (appears to be some sort of damage control from some argument that he lost)

-really muddy sound, hurt my ears a lot after 5 minutes

+sounded shockingly good with Random Access Memories, removable cable, isolated well, folded up, $20
-looked goofy, small soundstage, not durable
>harman/kardon CL
+looked so good strangers gave me compliments, good, clear sounding mids was a nice change, instrument separation was OK, removable cable and caring case was nice
-clamped like a torture device, required modding for best sound, soundstage so small it's depressing, remote broke quickly
>Panasonic something-125
+really comfy, not the worst sounding I've ever owned, convenient to carry around, look OK, can lay down in them (unexpected bonus)
-cable noise, sounded dull, build wasn't great, one side is now louder than the other

I bought, and returned the V-moda M-100s because one of the ear cushions was sewn on crooked. I didn't exchange because I wasn't sure if I could handle how recessed the mids were, but I miss everything else about them. Especially the soundstage and bass. If it's worth it and there aren't better alternatives, I may just buy them again.

I'm also considering the SE215 with the remote cable.

If you have an iPhone you can set up Activator to play/pause on a command you chose. I have volume up/down held skip/rewind track and double press home button plays/pause. That way I can control my music with the phone still on my pocket
You can do that on Android too but they generally lack a home button.
I'm not sure if buying a pair of headphones with a detachable cable and buying an aftermarket cable with inline controls would work.
The only "high end" portable headphones with inlines I can recall right now are the Sennheiser Momentum/Urbanite series and I've heard they're meh considering they cost over 300 bucks
>>
>>52694276
The K551 actually has inline controls but the cable is non-removable and feels cheap and flimsy compared to the K551/553 and they're still fucking massive.

>Is the treble as grating as they say?
Depends on who you've been reading. They are somewhat spiky in the treble.
The pads are crap at fitting, both K 545 and 550 derived headphones. This is my main issue with them.
>>
>>52694362
Fit issues were also mentioned on two thirds of reviews. It's worrying to say the least.
>>52694293
The Momentum series are absurdly priced, and they have the 'pointlessly upscale' look to them with that stupid headband. Sennheiser cannot into aesthetics. The 650 was a fluke.

>I thought I was buying too many headphones/IEMs
Someone had to have written the guides.

>Is there a reason you chose the MK5 over ER-4P?
Don't like any IEM as is. 4S is pretty insensitive, and I equalize it already. It's not like MK5 lacks treble extension in comparison, and it is cheaper.
I had the ER-4 first, but I sent it away since I already had another passable IEM after EQ. That fell apart, so I picked up MK5.

Other comments on ER-4:
>Actually, the peaks and dips drove me insane. Audiophile neurosis at its worst.
>Whatever, more resistive dampers should solve some problems of ER-4S or 4B. I've ordered some, and will eventually have a proper listen to modified 4B this time. Not doing 4S again...again.
I thought I had ordered more dampers than what I actually got. Not that I am in any hurry to get another IEM.

I'm not that bright in the "headphone world" so I'm just asking are these any good for general usage. Like are they too bassy or is it a ok-ish/good amount off bass? Hows the build quality?

Any other recommendations on closed back headphone for general usage that's under $200?

I like the price on them and my other option was the meme50s but the price is a tidbit too much for me.

It's more of a shitposter backlash to recent K702 popularity which also escalated into shitposting.

If I recall, the K702 was barely mentioned or recommended before January and then got popular after several people bought them around the same time. That anon's right in that the X2 was basically shilled to the same extent that K702 is right now, but then the X2 glued earpads shit went down and no one likes Fidelios anymore.
>>
>>52697066
It also helps that they're just a bit over $200 but outperform almost everything under $1000.

It feels like whatever's a good value or sale around that 200 dollar or euro sweet spot gets popular since that's one of the most popular budgets to get asked about.

I wouldn't say the headphones at that tier outperform the usual recommended stuff near $1k though. Most people would probably prefer something like the HE-560 or LCD-2 if budget is not an issue.
>>
>>52697179
>LCD-2
Bit more than or at $1000 new from most places.

I didn't say it outperforms everything just almost everything. Those two examples you gave are really the only ones that I think would be "better". And they cost a lot more.

The K702s weren't always cheap either.

I thought it's not uncommon to get the LCD-2 new around $900.

Anyway, I've always been averse to saying a certain headphone outperforms most other headphones above it, since the only ones that we care about are the top performing headphones.

The $200-300 tier is just the big diminishing returns area with lots of good competition, so naturally it gets the most shitposting. Maybe it'll be DT880's turn again to be the popular recommendation, we had the HD600 recently and K702 now.
>>
>>52697356
>I thought it's not uncommon to get the LCD-2 new around $900.
Is it now under $1000? I may have to pick one up then.

The HD600 posting comes and goes. Never lasts long. I doubt anything from Beyerdynamics will get popular. Shitposing will either be "nigger bass" or "ear rape treble".

The main problem with HD600 is that Sennheiser are jews about pricing, so it's rare for them to get extended low prices or sales. I think it's been a while but DT880 gets more popular every now and then, usually when people ask for more bass in that range.
>>
>>52697538
Ya I think I may have to get a pair by the end of the year if they're at $900 now. Maybe they'll drop a bit more?

The whole Sennheiser line is stupid overpriced considering the build of their headphones and age.
>>
>>52697568
The HD600 and HD650 are pretty much coasting on their reputation as "classics," but yeah I never understood why Senn can't update the build quality from the cheap tacky 90s marble stuff.

On the other hand, HD800 is pretty much the only recent flagship success out of the big three manufacturers, and it's had pretty good pricing whenever it's gone near ~$1000 recently. Of course for the new HD800S you would probably have to wait years for a similar good discount.
>>
>>52697650

I'm not saying they're bad but lets be honest. The popularity has more to do with who's wearing them and not so much the quality of it.

They're like $1300 low end. Not like they're using that great of materials in the build. When I first saw them I thought "cool a $700-$800 headphone to beat everything". And then I saw the price.
>>
I have akg k7XX's

>>52693999
It's not.
>>

>The popularity has more to do with who's wearing them

Wait, are they shilled by some celebrities unbeknownst to me?

I don't own the HD800 myself, but I haven't heard many complaints about the build quality aside from maybe the paint. It's the only dynamic headphone over $1000 that is commonly recommended now, while the Tesla headphones and K812 flopped, so by that measure I think it's a success.

Everyone can blame Sennheiser for starting the overpriced flagship trend, but at $1000-1100 street price these days the HD800 is good relative to the absurd $2000-$4000 stuff being released.

It comes from people stretching the headband to reduce clamp. There are lots of people with 10+ year old HD600s, so it's not typical wear and tear.

Then again, Sennheiser was retarded for not testing this before production. I mean you have to expect people will try to actively bend your headphones.

How about this? Buy the K553 Pro, a 3.5mm f to f connector, and some third party headphone cable w/remote, and kijigger them together in such a way that the entire length of the original cable is neatly coiled and zip-tied to the headband, leaving essentially just the cable with the remote?

>>
>>52701429
Umm it's a bassy headphone with uneven response in mids and treble. EQ.
>>
>>52701519
Because, for some odd reason or the other, no one seems to like to make models of high end headphones with built-in microphones.
Almost all headsets are either cheap low-end gear, or 'gaming gear', which sound terrible with music.
>>
>>52701519
Because most of them suck, almost none have any documented and measured performance available and they are generally very pricy for the product you get. Microphones used in them is often terrible and build quality is plastic with styling trying to appeal for kids.
>>
>>52701554
not even this guy, but to add on to this, somehow the mics are always trash as well. and a lot of them have problems transporting the different audio streams through 1 line.

seriously. a 2 dollar chink mic glued on to a 40 dollar pair of super are better than any headset on the market, except maybe a hyper x cloud 1. but thats not saying much about gaming headsets in general, just because one set is just okay

I think "Hey I like it" is a valid point to make to be honest. There's at least a bit of value in it, though not all that much unless you can compare it to some other competitors at the same time.

Does anyone know where I can get a coiled cord for 598s?

*tips*
That they're willing to at least try to help someone? It's unfortunate that a brand name hurts your feelings so much.
That they're not dumb enough to spend an ungodly amount of time and money just to listen to music?
It's a shame your priorities are so fucked up.

except they cost more than things significantly better

Anyone owned a pair of NVX XPT100s?
I'm looking for closed back headphones with mostly neutral sound response and I almost bought MDR V6 but I've read about these and they look pretty interesting.
Quick note, I'll be using them to play games as well so if anyone has any insight on which would be a better pick for that I'll be sure to respond with lewd reaction images

the v6/7506 would be more neutral. xpt100 is going to have more bass and less treble.
>>
>>52706577
That's more like it. We may actually help someone after all.
>>
>>52706697
making sure he doesnt buy the skullcandies is helping him more than giving him a rec at this point
>>
>>52706675
Yeah I know that much since I read most of the reviews for both of these, but my main questions are how they compare to each other and which one would be better for games (for example from what I've read XPT100s have a wider soundstage which would make finding targets easier)

Anyone have any experience with the AKG K240 Studio (the gold version)? Anything else I should consider around the 80€ price point?

Can't wait to get my a900x's. I've never owned a decent pair of headphones. It's taken 5 weeks to have them shipped properly and have a tracking #.

Always double check the shipping destination.

what
where the fuck you getting them from?

I think things that are open around that pricepoint are either the hi2050 or the 558

People overexaggerate the soundstage stuff. The main Sennheiser lineup is supposed to have a great gaming soundstage. The Hifiman line is supposed to have a poor soundstage period. I've found them both to be pretty much the same.

Trust me, unless you get something really awful, you're not going to lose out on clear positional audio.

most people won't like neutral, especially for games
warmer sound is better for that purpose because it'll give a lot more OOMPH to explosions and the sort
>>
>>52706748
I have a friend with them and he says they sound great. Haven't heard them myself. I doubt you'll be disappointed for that price.

>>

>>
>>52706980
i was referring to your belief in soundstage. im done arguing with people over whether soundstage exists outside of closed vs open. if you really want it, get open headphones. otherwise just get something neutral, or something warm if you want this >>52706951
>>
>>52706958
It's not really a meme. In some ways everything from the angle of the drivers to the shape and material of the earcups (and how they sit on your ears/head) can alter how sound reaches you, and thus change the perception of depth. However, people act like it's this tremendous difference and it's not. Unless you're deaf you can still hear where things are coming from in an FPS.

I just don't want bassy headphones and loud explosions and gunfire are extremely distracting. I'll go see if any stores have neutral headphones I can try though.

>>52707009
Fuck man, every guide and review talks about soundstage what do you want me to think.

Okay I see what you mean, I just wanted I wider soundstage because I'm getting closed-back headphones when open-back are supposedly better for that.
>>
>>52707062
well there's varying amounts of bass, 7506/v6 is about as low as it goes for closed headphones and still low compared to open headphones

Checked a couple of other sites and they all are at that price point.

Open/Closed/Semi-open doesn't really matter much to me. I'm mainly interested in a fairly balanced frequency response.
I'm coming from a HD 681 Evo, but I'm looking for something a bit more sturdy this time

I don't mind low frequencies, I just don't want them boosted because it fucks with my music and it means that any FPS I play just sounds like the Chinese New Year

>>
>>52707245
go for the xpt100s then, not becuase of the "soundstage" but because they're more "fun"

unless ofcourse you've used neutral headphones before, where nothing compares to 7506 nearby the budget
>>
>>52707341
I'm open to both, maybe I worded it badly but something like a v-shaped response doesn't bother me.
I don't want headphones where a part of the spectrum stands out (e.g. massive bass, piercing highs, etc.)

Nah the only headphones I used in my life are V-Moda Crossfade LP which a friend had and JVC HA-RX700 which are my sister's. I've only used earphones before.
>>
>>52707458

From ebay
>>
>>52707478
IIRC vmoda is pretty bass heavy, might just be the one/two models people usually talk about though

>>52707455
yeah, they should be good then, maybe treble will be a bit too strong for your taste but you should be able to slightly tune it down if it's too much
>>

http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/VModaCrossfadeLP.pdf
less bass than expected, still a lot more than 7506
http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/SonyMDRV6.pdf

if you found the bass on the LP too much you could go for the 7506, wouldn't do it otherwise though

ath m50 is what i have for home use

i'm looking for a sound-comfort-reliability balance. "good" sound is good enough, i'm not a connoiseur. if one of the earbuds dies in 3 months though i'm going on a shooting spree.

thanks in advance for any suggestions.

How much improvement in sound quality will I notice if I go from ~40$ headphones to ~150$ headphones? I seriously find it hard to imagine how what I am listening to right now can sound better.
>>
>>52708182
its like going from 1080p to 1440p

ATH-IM50 to go with that m50. Bass boost as well as nice build, even if the earpieces are kinda large.

This >>52708209 is a pretty good explanation.

I'd say they're between half and three quarters of the way there at least.

Also if you enjoy your current ones then don't upgrade. You're wasting your money and gambling on a sound signature you might hate. What works now is almost always what's best.
