I have to say, I like the look of Pocket CHIP. A computer with a keyboard and display in your pocket for < $50 is pretty awesome. Even if it doesn't have that much guts in terms of computing power it's a cool toy at least

Just about everyone has an extra out of all of those (as opposed to a c.h.i.p. shield), except for maybe the usb otg adapter that costs $1. You could probably get some free from friends.
Even then, you can get a ethernet adapter for ~$2, usb hub for ~$3 and otg cable for $1, so $11 (cheaper than chip)

Just about everyone I know who is interested in computers has an extra wifi dongle and a hub. There's no problem with that argument.
