AMD had tesslation first and they don't practice bad business to get ahead, nor do they tank performance on their rivals card.

GameWorks is nothing but a way of making people upgrade.

>High amounts of tessellation proven to be a scam, or even any amount (old news from 2011)
Nvidia drivers reduce tessellation levels upon detecting the game. So when a game says 64x the driver actually does like 8x shitting on the game. AMD drivers don't do this and they try to comply with the requested setting. I have tessellation forced to 8x in my driver and it works very well.

At 1080p it does start to lean in nvidias favor, but also compare older cards to see how well AMD and NVIDIA cards age.

When you buy AMD you're pretty much guaranteed better support because they maintain an architecture for so long.

Nvidia needs seperate drivers for each architecture.
>>
>>52677852
Why is the 980 below 290x?
>>
>>52678021
more like nvidia's planed obsolescence makes it so they have to change out things and then put them back in all the time going from tesla to fermi to kepler to maxwel to pascal
>>
>>52678036
Because its 4k.
AMD scales better than nvidia at higher resolutions because 256bit vs 512bit.

Usually, nvidia is slightly better at 1080p, they match at 1440p, amd is slightly better at 4k.

GPU isn't even a factor hardly with emulation. My GTX 670 doesn't even pull 50% utilization with 1080p, 4xAA and 16xAF in Dolphin.
>>
>>52677852
It used to be the other way around, oddly. In the late 90's and early 00's AMD/ATI's drivers were absolutely atrocious. I had an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro around that time, and it wasn't even usable because the drivers were so bad literally every game crashed. I got an NVIDIA card to replace that card and have exclusively used them since then and I have noticed a decline in the quality of NVIDIA's drivers over the years.

All this GameWorks talks boils down to AMD babies crying about not getting NVIDIA ONLY FEATURES DESIGNED FOR NVIDIA ARCHITECTURE despite the fact that they willingly opted in buying an AMD card instead, most of them buy AMD because it is cheaper then cry because they don't get premium features from NVIDIA in their AMD cards.

If you go to reddit( where OP video is from by the way) you will notice how the people always whining about GameWorks is the AMD subreddit while the Nvidia subreddit barely has any replies in fact AMD subreddit talks more about Nvidia than Nvidia talks about AMD and Nvidia owns 80% of the market, just let that sink.

Also whining about Nvidia GameWorks is like whining a premium car company can make a super A car while the rest can't do the same so Nvidia should't make that car until the other companies can do the same too.

Also, everything he cited in that video has been proved by actual sources.

Seriously this kind of videos pop up every week or so and are quickly disproved by actual facts and benchmarks, it has even become a running joke in the pcgaming subreddit.

>>
>>52678235
I dont buy AMD because theyre the good guys. I buy from them because theyre more ethical, sell good GPUs that cost slightly less than nvidia, and I havent had any driver issues from them.

The one time I tried an nvidia.
>install gtx 670
>it works great
>maxwell comes out
>drivers crashing in game occasionaly
>shadowplay causes display drivers to crash
>performing a lot worse than it should be in newer games compared to the AMD equivalent.

Im not saying nvidia are gimping the older cards with new drivers because old games still perform roughly the same. They're just not optimising it as much as the latest gen to make maxwell look better than it really is.

I will always buy Nvidia™ because I only play games The Way It's Meant to be Played™. Nvidia also pioneers innovative new technologies like PhysX™, GameWorks™ and the highest quality driver to ever grace Windows. When I boot up with a brand new Nvidia™ GeForce™, I can experience the game just like it's meant to be played. Nvidia™ also delivers a far smoother experience. Nvidia GeForce™ is also very power efficient. A graphic card is the most power hungry device in your house. Refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters, dish washers, lights, etc all use significantly less power than a graphic card. Which is why Nvidia™ puts gamers first by ensuring that their gaming experience is of the highest quality while looking out for gamers by giving them the most value in their electrical bill. At this point in time, there's really no reason to consider an AMD graphic card at all. I tried one one time, it caused so much heat that it exploded. It also consumed so much power that it gave on an EMP and destroyed the rest of my computer. Nvidia™ also pioneered how useless GPGPU is with CUDA™. Years ago, everyone thought GPGPU, CUDA™, and OpenCL were the future. Now, Nvidia™ has removed those useless features from their GPUs and increased efficiency. Now you can save thousands a year in electricity thanks to Nvidia™ ensuring that useless features like GPGPU are "optimized" for gamers. It's quite clear that OP's an AMD shill trying to convince you to settle on something less than The Way It's Meant to be Played™. Nvidia™ is the only real way to play games. We have seen recently that they offer incredible libraries for software developers like Nvidia GameWorks. He is probably too poor to afford the Nvidia GeForce Experience and can not afford to play any games The Way It's Mean To be Played™. Don't be a poor gamer with bad drivers and a huge power bill. Play games with the GeForce™ Experience™: The Way It's Meant To Be Played™

Nvidiafags will cling on to the "architecture was already as optimized as it could get!" but then can't justify the 780 losing to the 960, or all Kepler cards having really close performance across the board. >I think Nvidia is not to blame here.

Nvidia fucked over tons of users back in circa 2005-6 when Vista came out. They released the 8800 and claimed DX10 support, but had no Vista drivers, so no one could use them for DX10 for months. They got sued over that.

They also never released nforce3 drivers for Vista, so a shit ton of power systems that could run Vista fine ended up with buggy or non-functional systems (depending on how much the XP drivers were compatible: they worked if you used a Geforce card, but bluescreened every five minutes if you used an ATI card).

Nvidia has a huge history of deliberately fucking people over. By comparison, AMD is only guilty of incompetence.
>>
>>52679852
It was though.. Windows 10 WDDM2.0 has different timings and it caused driver crashed, especially when using hardware acceleration, it wasn't just Nvidia it affected AMD and Intel iGPU too and exactly the same happen with Windows 8, though it took them 6 months to fix it back then, AMD took almost 1 year by the way.

I don't even know why amd users would be upset, they've got a tesselation slider to minimize the gameworks damage and their cards are gonna get even faster with dx12/vulkan. What I understand even less is why nvidia users aren't. I'm personally really fucking annoyed every time a new game ready driver fucks me in the ass and it doesn't help that a max tesselation option would be a really nice feature that I don't think I'm ever going to have as a previous generation nvidia user.
I hope the green defense force is just shitposters and shills because as much as some people might like to identify with a brand that gives not a single shit about them and defend them with their lives, we are the ones getting fucked, not amd.

AMD user here.

I'm not mad, and I share the same opinion as you. Despite Nvidia deliberately trying to fuck over with AMD, AMD cards still do just as good if not better than Nvidia in most cases, while being cheaper for the most part too. I'm comfy as fuck, and I'll get much more out of my 390 for the next years than anyone that got a 780 or a 970 will get.

I don't care if AMD or Nvidia make the most shekels. I care for myself. I'm the consumer, and Nvidia is clearly working against my interests, therefore, I'll avoid them at all costs. If they do end up becoming a monopoly down the road and AMD is kill, well, fuck me, I'm gonna have to bite the pillow eventually, but until then, fuck Nvidia.

You're right. Communism is a much better idea. Let's just install 950s or 360s in everyone's PCs and call it a day, that way, no one can complain about performance anymore, since everyone will get shit frames anyway. Clearly the better option.

Oh dear, he doesn't even know what PhysX is and what it does, I can't take him seriously.
I mean 5 minutes with google would have sorted that.

PhysX is one of the most popular physics engines used these days in AAA titles and others, a fuckton of games use it.
There are some parts of the engine that can be offloaded to a CUDA capable GPU, but the library runs on the CPU regardless of platform.
Latest SDK provides GPU offloading for clothing, particles and fluids.
But the majority of PhysX users never utilize said effects or never enable GPU offloading capability and just run everything on the CPU.
For example, Unity uses PhysX as it's physics engine, all Unity games use it.
Unreal 4, you guessed it, PhysX.
And so on.

Out of ~500 major games using PhysX only ~50 provide offloading capabilities for some of the previously mentioned effects, which you can turn of if you so wish.

Most of those 50 games don't even run the effects unless PhysX offloading is explicitly enabled, they just downgrade to a CPU based version of the effect or don't use one at all.

Now is Nvidia bad? Yes sometimes, because they are capitalistic pigs who try to monopolize their position via dirty tricks, in an market with only one real competitor.

What's the solution? More competitors, shared open source libraries and consumer backslash if they act out of line.
Btw same goes for AMD, I don't for a second believe their open source hype and Nvidia bashing, they are just suffering and will use any and all tricks to catch up Nvidia.
So these fucking smear campaigns are just as dirty as what Nvidia does.

/g/ is like the marketers wet dream, autistic consumerist whores who once turned to some side will defend it to the worlds end.

This is why you should just use AMD cards. AMD is too close to failing as a company to want to fuck you over like this.

Well the only competition is Havok from MS, there are really good open sources engines like ODE, Newton and bullet, but they don't have nearly as much market penetration then the big two.
It's the most commercially used physics engine around. It got really big with Xbox 360, PS2 and other consoles.

And Nvidia didn't create it, they bought it, but whatever.

There's nothing marketing about that fact, unless you don't want to educate yourself.

>>
>>52683699
No, that's not exactly what happened. Bethesda worked on 1.3 themselves, however Nvidia helped them with optimization for Nvidia cards. Afterwards, AMD cards run the game a little better(because that was just Bethesda working on them) and, coincidentally, older generation Nvidia cards ended up running the game way worse.

HBAO+ is very compute intensive and requires more bandwidth which AMD is better at compared to Kepler which is why it falls behind.
Maxwell has dedicated hardware to do it and a new PolyMorph Engine to do tessellation, better color compression which reduces memory bandwidth and the double amount of ROPs.

It's not that Kepler is getting gimped is just that Maxwell gets ahead because it has hardware dedicated to the feature, this is why you see the 960 beating Kepler cards, that until you disable the feature and you see the Kepler card back to where it should be.

There are still some stuff exclusive stuff from Maxwell (without counting DX12 features) that Nvidia has yet to use in games like VXGI which should look way way better than HBAO+ and practically free for Maxwell cards and multi-pixelprogrammable sampling which should gives us a better MSAA comparable to SGSSAA.

It's not because of that, you fucking retard. Bus width only affects memory bandwidth, and memory bandwidth nowhere near being a determining factor, even at 4K the 256-bit Nvidia cards are not bandwidth-starved. AMD cards scale better because of the architecture itself, not because of memory bus width.

Interesting note: the $650 enthusiat market is relatively tiny and well over 90% of the market is below that, mostly around the $150 to $300 range.
