>Linux by itself is a meme

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

not him but ubuntus font rendering is pretty good by default, i think they use something like
<?xml version='1.0'?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM 'fonts.dtd'>
<fontconfig>
<match target="font">
<edit mode="assign" name="rgba">
<const>rgb</const>

It all depends on what you use for what. I have firefox, cmus, and a vpn running, so it's at around 700 MB's of ram usage now, but it usually hovers anywhere from 450 - 1000 MB's. Considering my windows 8 and now 10 laptop idles at 2.5 GB, I’d say it's comparatively lightweight

The fact that so many users still name Linux as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" Unix-like OS ever only tells you how far Systems still is from becoming a serious discipline. Text editor critics have long recognized that the greatest text editors of all times are Emacs and Vi, which are not the best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Browser critics rank the highly controversial Chromium over browsers which are highly popular the world over. OS critics are still blinded by commercial success. Linux sold more than any other Unix-like OS (not true, by the way, OSX is nearly entirely POSIX-compliant), therefore it must have been the greatest. Text editor critics get started using ancient text editors, browser critics use browsers which have been in development since HTML first existed as a concept. OS critics are often totally ignorant of the OSes of the past, they barely know the most used brands. No wonder they will think that Linux is worthy of being saved.
>>
>>52652528
>Emacs and Vi aren't the best sellers so they can't be the best editors
>Linux isn't the besd OS despite being the best-seller

Get your shit consistent
