Release builds of Windows 10, set appropriately, not installed with Express Settings and with the more pernicious privacy settings turned off, aren't that bad, according to my own research.

There are a couple of oft-quoted sources of people running Wireshark, cluelessly oblivious that Win10 effectively torrents Windows Updates throwing the results, or about DNS prefetching, or that Basic telemetry (i.e. what software/hardware you have installed) is essential for an OS update mechanism and nothing that pacman or apt don't do.

To anyone with a counterpoint: IDA Pro dumps with base addresses, or GTFO. I've never seen anyone with actual proof of the Windows object code doing anything particularly nefarious.

The "muh botnet" makes you sound like paranoid idiots to normies and dumb frogposters to those of us who know what a botnet actually is. Unhelpful.

I do have strong criticism of the default settings, however. They're invasive in a way people got used to when Google or Apple do it on phones but is unprecedented on desktops.

But don't go running outdated no-longer-developed versions of an OS from a vendor you don't trust because you're misinformed. All the information you need to answer your questions is in the binaries, and there are too many trolls and shills to blindly believe unsupported opinions or screenshots.
