My HP Pavilion laptop is having some problems. I got it 4-5 years ago, and recently updated it to Windows 10. Everything was going okay, despite it running a little slower, then, suddenly, it pretty much died. It told me I had a FAT file system error, and wouldn't turn on for a few days. Now, it will do some automatic system repair, but it only loads up to a black screen. All of this would be fine, but I forgot to backup my files, including my reaction folder. So, is there any way to fix it or at least extract my data? Thank

You need to replace your harddrive eitherway(I think, don't quote me on this), but if you're lucky, you'll be able to retrieve the files if you use a USB to sata 2.5" cable on the near dead old HDD.

This, OP you better do this quick.
If you can't start up the disk then you deserve it for not backing up your files.
