Built my computer and now need an os... Looking at either windows 7 or 10. I have an 8gb ram so would 64bit be all right?

>>52642409 is right, but I'll answer. If you want no support and missing drivers, you could do 7. If you want 7, but with drivers, 8.1 + Classic Start, or you could do 10. If you don't game or Adobe, you could Linux; Korora or Linux Mint are the most noob friendly.

In order to use all 8 GB, you HAVE to have a 64 bit OS. 32 bit only use up to 4 GB. Just FYI.
The hardware it was shipped on couldn't handle the software it was shipped with, was most of the problem. This was mostly fixed in Service Packs, but not all of it could be saved.
Also, it's bi-XP/7, both of which had better UIs
