Pathetic winshills are coming
Is it just me or does w10 absolutely rape hard drives? I know they always do something when idle, indexing, checking for errors et cetera. It should not use hdd to the fullest for several minutes though, to the point where the whole system is unusable.
I've seen it happen on fresh installs and upgrades from 8. Does it install some shadow updates without any notifications? What the fuck does it do?

windows update forced me to reinstall windows 7 a total of 8 times over 2 days.
fuck windows for being the best way to use the programs I need to make money
>>52640877
why the hell are you even enabling updates for
>>52640866
It's indexing the entire drive and uploading the metadata to MS. I wish I were kidding.
Can we make a seperate board for winbabbies? I mean it's not like thy belong to a technology board in any sense.
Why are winbabbies so tech illiterate?
>>52640888
Security patches
>>52640877
I need the initial security updates at least. windows update refused to find any updates, or would just crash and undo updates that were configuring. finally I just used portable update to download all the updates and install them, then uninstalled the botnet ones

Disable treating recommended updates as important updates and you don't have to worry about that shit.

So much for "user convenience"

Why I sometimes hate windows
>Drivers not installing automatically. Having to actually go point Device Manager to the correct driver day in and day out.
>Users are usually cheap bastards who refuse to learn how to operate their computer.
>Menu options constantly being moved to different places that I just don't bother anymore and always use Run to pull up preferences.
>Windows updates always taking forever to install, then restarting and having to look for more to make sure they're ALL installed. Sometimes I need these updates installed for Windows to play nice with third party software.
>Network testing utilities are shitty unless you decide to download third party software.
Personally, I'm happy with whatever OS I've gotta work with. I'll make do. I have Windows 7 myself. It's just at work, they're so strict on software that can be used with the client's computers that when I run into problems that can't be resolved without referring to Microsoft reallllllly kills me.

The more a hard drive is being used, the sooner it's gonna die. Turn off your computer and then you can give your poor HDD a break.
Here's a fun read about SSD
http://techreport.com/review/27909/the-ssd-endurance-experiment-theyre-all-dead
Meh, I'm cool with win10.
>>52640866
You can turn off some things like swap and indexing if you don't care about that.
It's also basically defragging itself all the time.

Daily reminder /g/ is now full of shilling threads. And these shills are paid by Microsoft
>>52641720
The adoption rate for windows 10 slowed and they've started getting desperate. now they're even forcing the update on domain-joined machines.
>>52641720
By your logic every thread is a shill thread, be it Windows, Linux, MacOS, whatever.
At least the Windows shill's are smart enough to get paid...
>>52641751
No, they aren't. At least, not on any of the domains I manage...
>>52641816
http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-expands-get-windows-10-program-to-domains-publishes-opt-out-instructions/
So this article isn't true? They're not doing this? Also it's only for professional editions, not enterprise.
>>52641852
no they are not pushing it to domain connected machines.
>>52641800
>Implying appreciation threads are not shill threads
If you think pictures in >>52641720 are not shills then I feel sorry for you
>>52641852
I manage about 20 domains, between 5 and 500 seats. None of these are running enterprise, and I have not seen any forced updates.
Most of the smaller ones are not using WSUS (despite my suggestions to the contrary) but the bigger ones are, and it's not coming up in that update list, either.
>>52641856
So that makes every appreciation thread a shill thread. Again, by that logic, there are more GNU / Linux shills on /g/ than any other group...
>>52641925
Find me one "<distro> appreciation thread"
>>52641949
Seriously? >>51971506, the only pinned thread for /g/ gives the default answer of install Gentoo, and the /g/ website is wiki.installgentoo.com.
Also, Linux itself is just a kernel...
I install updates willy-nilly on our servers because I'm too lazy to do per-update research.
>>52642050
So you failed to find one single "<distro> appreciation thread"
Linking me to the sticky of /g/ itself proves you may be in the wrong place.
Bye
>defenders of Windows ITT
My initial win10 corrupted itself and could never repair, not even with the recovery flash drive. Lost a few months of unimportant things that I had never backed up. Went to win7 for a few weeks now I'm back on win10. I really hope it doesn't spontaneously break again.
