Joking aside, updates are a once a month occurrence. I fail to see the problem with just getting it over with. Since malware devs actually use Windows updates to find and exploit vulnerabilities after they're fixed, every day you postpone the update leaves you at risk.

They are in fact very necessary, as certain builds depend heavily on keeping track of buffs and cooldowns and in a full party you would often have so many buffs that there wasn't enough room to display everything. So now each ability that has a duration/buff of some sort has it displayed near its own icon instead of appearing as a generic buff.

That's true, but CRT monitors can take a while to warm up. Roughly an hour before colors are completely accurate on mine. As such, if I'm expecting to use it later, I tend to preemptively turn it on. I manually activate the screensaver when I'm not using the computer, but the message ruins that. In truth, the more modern color CRTs need to be effectively abused before burn-in happens, but I'm still far from happy to walk away for a couple hours and come back to find a static image being displayed.

I have it set to notify before downloading and I don't get OP's message I just get a small icon in the notification center that says "you need updates" So OP probably fucked up somewhere in the settings, he should leave it to default and let Windows handle it instead seeing how he is too dumb to configure it properly.

Linux Mint and Ubuntu are almost like Windows in terms of user-friendliness. You don't need to create an entirely new operating system just to achieve user-friendliness, all that needs to be done is to tweak Linux to make it more user-friendly.

A lot of the "user-unfriendliness" though, comes from people who don't understand what they're doing who try to get Windows-only applications to run on Linux and then get frustrated when their .exe won't run, like that "Ubuntu made me drop out of school" girl.
