Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

Remember the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview
>around 60% of posters here chat shit - don't make any claims about sites based on "something you read here once"

Ookay then, first up we've got this lovely 'Vanity House' compilation CD, featuring artists such as Turboretro, and The Stereophones. So look forward to that.

We've also got the latest album from Drizzy Wap, in fact I think we'll probably play something of that a bit later?

Alright, hah, and the big movie this, prepare yourself, for the film that no one's seen ... but, is owned by every single Xfm listener: LADDER 49 starring John Travolta and Joaquin Phoenix.

If you want to win this bag o' tat, simply email in. Karl are you ready with the questions?

I recently joined AnimeBytes on a whim. I downloaded a manga and have seeded it for 158 hours. My ratio on it is 0 as not one person has downloaded it in that time. There are four other seeds.

The descriptions of the media are lacking. I'm used to seeing a breakdown of the codec and bitrate but these don't seem to be common on the available torrents. Given that uploading seems to be nigh impossible, I wouldn't want to waste my starting 20 ratio (19.9 after the manga) by downloading the wrong format.

I prefer public trackers. In that same 158 hours, I have uploaded over 150GB to other people, which I thought was the purpose of p2p in the first place, not some Ponzi scheme of ratio.

Anime is a different game entirely when it comes to this tracker /ptg/ ryde or die shit. AB is an entry level tracker, first door in for those who don't want to go the whatcuck route.

First things first. Don't get your fucking manga from AB unless it's a gigantic 70 volume shit. Manga always gets downloaded through irc or madokami. Manga should only ever be uploaded to AB. Nobody wastes fucking time downloading manga from AB that's why nobody seeds that shit either besides the guy that fucking uploaded it.

Next, 80% of the encodes on AB are shit. About 95% of the freeleech 1080p encodes are bloated shit. The best release of a show is usually bluray, 10-bit, 720p and NON-FREE. Unfortunately this means it'll have nowhere near as much as the shit tier Abesu 1080p FL rip of any show.

Long story short, just snatch FL, use that to farm yen and build buffer, upload 5 shitty transcodes, make it to PU and get into better trackers.

AB is comfy and all, but using it for manga. U DUN GOOFED. U DUN FUCKING GOOFED.
>>
>>52639851
Just download the AOTW and AOTF, and 1080p anime. They're all FL and you'll get easy buffer that way.
>>
>>52639901
>The best release of a show is usually bluray, 10-bit, 720p
To be fair, there is ALMOST always a corresponding 10-bit 1080p encode that is just up-scaled 720p. Since the 1080p is freeleech, I grab that.
>>
>>52639930
I want you to think about why that's dumb before posting again.
>>
>>52639901
>>52639930
Can someone tell me why 720p is better than 1080p? At first glance, it doesn't make much sense to a newfag like me.
>>
>>52639785
Alright here we go then

the first one, that thing that never forgets should be locked up, whats all that about? and the initials there are CTE

second one then, I don't mind kissing a bit of metal, what am I doing there then? and the initial there is AC

last one, and remember this is on email and its at random so take your time... This web browser is a right nightmare to use and the initial there is A

Email in your answers n that, bit of placebo and then monkey news next?
>>
>>52639887

>Fuck off you purist autist, I dont give a fuck if it's gonna be very slightly worse looking
>slightly worse looking
>for twice the bitrate

>>
>>52639901

Fair enough. I needed a RAW of the manga in this case and AB was a lot cleaner than Senmanga. I thought I'd let it sit awhile and see what happened with it before trying to DL anything I might want for myself.

I've had this problem before with other trackers like Avistaz and BakaBT and I ended up downloading whatever had a big cluster of leeches and then uploading that, hoping I'd be able to leave some other schmuck left with the bag as far as ratio went. It worked but man, it's such a waste of resources.

>10bit

This is something I tend to avoid because my little ARM boxes won't play it (no hardware support). Ironically, the descriptions on AB weren't any better at telling me this than public trackers.

tl;dr I'm just going to use AB as a last resort for anniemae and mahnguh.

>thanks for the invite tho I guess
>>
>>52639987
Hold on, let me just go waste my buffer so I can save a few GB of hard drive space

Yeah kill yourself, seriously.

It would have taken me MONTHS to get enough buffer to have downloaded 720p content instead I just grab what i want in 1080p and don't give a fuck, it looks the same it just takes up more space on my hard drives, oh fucking no...

I'd rather have 2.5TB+ in 2 months instead of waiting 8-12 months to get the buffer required to grab 1.5TB worth of 720p
>>
speaking of ncore, how does it compare to others like IPT?

I really enjoy these sort of posts/gifs. Thank you. They are appropriate and fair.
>>
>>52640016
>all this reddit spacing and anger
>waste my buffer
Buffer is there to be used.
AB's economy is so ridiculously easy that provided you actually seed things you download you can snatch whatever you want whenever you want. It's virtually ratioless.
>>52640038
Honestly who cares. General trackers are all useless and made redundant by a few good specialized trackers. Just have IPT sitting around in case you ever need it but really, you probably wont.
>>
>>52639948
It's anime, most of it is made by tawianese basketweavers hoping to earn more from a second job. It's rare shit will actually be mastered at 1080p. Of course there are some exceptions like say 7 YEARS OF HAND DRAWN ANIMATION Redline.
>>
>>52639960
>1. Cage the Elephant
Alright, I'll give you that one. It just about works.

>3. ???
Is this the fuckin rollover that nobody got? Idiot.
>>
>>52640094
>It's virtually ratioless.
Yeah but you only get buffer by grabbing 1080p freeleech things because that is what the majority of users are grabbing because it is freeleech all the time. It is also what new users will be grabbing since they dont have buffer yet.

I have gained over 1TB of buffer by uploading all the 1080p freeleech stuff I have grabbed

Don't even try and tell me I would have gotten anywhere close to that seeding 720p, because I have some 720p stuff and it is some of my least seeded content.

1080p not only is freeleech 24/7 but it's the easiest way of gaining buffer on AB as well

>>
>>52641650
Yeah there is!
Freeleech percentages don't work on autodl and you should filter by release name and size instead. (D-Z0N3, NCmt.etc)
Personally I don't recommend autosnatching on AHD. Seeding size and average seedtime is he real bigBoy stat that will get you places. Just download movies you' like to watch and seed them for as long as is convenient for you. It's not really a tracker that requires a seedbox given that your first 800GB of internals are required ratio free if they're fully seeded and you have the BP system to support you afterwards if you have a shit connection.
>>
>>52641307
>gotta wait an arbitrary 48 hours until a slow fucking retard can do it because he signed up on some thread to reserve it

Mind if I run a quick survey, /ptg/?

Are there any trackers you have joined within the last month? If so,
What are they?
How long ago did you join them (respectively, if multiple sites)?
How much have you uploaded and downloaded?
Would you have downloaded/uploaded more or less if the site's economy ran differently?

My buffer is in the terabytes so not worried about that. Also anytime I snatch them it goes to at least 1, so I make out alright since 75% FL.

You gain the upload but on AHD really bp is what you want. It's pretty much freeleech after you've been there a while since buffer is so easy.

MTV will be opening invites for a week
>Dear friends,
Invites are now open for all classes, again. You will have one month (four weeks) to send the invites, to whoever you feel like. After the month, the rules voted by you regarding invites will be enforced. Which also includes the invites being removed from the market, but you will still be able to send out invites by sending a staff message.
The accounts who haven't been used more than two months, will be disabled by a script which will run once at 6 months.

NEET = Not in Employment, Education or Training
can be synonymous with shut-in or hikkikomori but basically means you live with your parents

normie has many different meanings depending on who you ask, but it's basically 4chan's equivalent of the word hipster, in the sense that it's some "other", some group of people that whoever is using the word normie feels shouldn't belong

the word normie is not synonymous with hipster, i was just comparing how the words are used

generally normie means someone who is well-adjusted and is doing at least alright for themself: has friends they spend time with regularly, doesn't spend as much time on 4chan, may have a job/live on their own or have a girlfriend/boyfriend

in the future use urbandictionary.com

Remove this one, while ensuring they know they are going to soon become offline employed NEETs.

Guide to easily get internals from HDB, BTN, AHD etc if you're not in them yet:
- General trackers: TL has quite a few AHD encodes vs IPT. IPT gets some HDB and MTeam, HdArea, and HDT encodes. TSH has some P2P inetrnals from HDB and BTN as well. Ncore and Filelist.ro are top picks for P2P content.
- BitHDTV gets quite a few internals. Hard to seed though.
- NetHD, TorViet, UHDBits get quite a few HDB internals. Tayto's home tracker is UHDbits (currently open)
- MTV (ratioless) and TTN get BTN internals mirrored. Not great retention though. Same with TSH and FL.
- TehC gets HDB, HDT and to a lesser extent AHD internals. Only PU on AB req to get in.
- If bB opens up that is a good way to get P2P albeit quite slower compared to the rest. You can request internals.
- HDT can be bought into and has HDB internals and their own. I wouldn't recommend this though unless as a last resort.

This is only for very new people who want to have backups to get internals without having to worry about ratio, wanting to cross seed or experinece P2P encodes while you are waiting to get into PTP, AHD, HDB, BTN. Feel free to add more familia.

Nah - for one, if we're going to scrutinise how well a tracker works we might as well do it for the 50 others listed in that pastebin. And I don't want to bring my personal feelings to lessen the diversity of /g/'s options. If they're smart they'll read up on the tracker before joining anyway.

The owner of IPT is, generally speaking, a cunt. He injected peers from a public tracker torrent into private tracker torrents and it got some people some nastygrams. sometimes on wcd, i'll be seeding a torrent that accumulates a huge amount of upload, like with a ratio an order of magnitude higher than anything else i'm seeding. it looks like it happens because a single leecher (usually, or always, running libtorrent) is at 99.9% and just keeps trying to get that last piece for weeks on end.

what's going on here? is it some kind of bug, or is this part of that pyramid scam that people run? i'm pretty sure that the torrents this happens to are always freeleech, so it's not hurting the libtorrent guy to do this, but is he doing it intentionally?

Probably enough to make you concerned. Also the electricity required to keep that thing cool is probably going to cost a decent chunk too.

If you dont have money to invest into it it will probably never be used to it's potential.

Anon I just don't believe you, as this anon stated.
>>52645338

Unless you set aside a 200 square foot area in your basement for this shit and have the proper electrical setup (protip, your normal residential electrical box is 99% not powerful enough to run 10PB worth of servers/HDDs.

Also, a 10PB "nas" is just a bunch of rack mounted servers with shit loads of HDDs networked together.
>>
>>52645367
>I can't. The logos and stuff are plastered everywhere and he told me I wasn't allowed to post the hardware/cases anywhere online.
Why wouldn't you be able to post some generic hardware online?
>>
>>52645422
cause he is lying.

Biggest HDDs on the market right now are 10TB each.

It would require 1000 of them for a 10PB NAS.

1000 of the absolute biggest HDDs on the planet, of which they have only been in existence for about a year. (meaning if he is getting used equipment, they aren't going to be the latest 10TB drives).

So he has OVER 1000 HDDs of an unknown size, that just happen to fit in his basement.

Oh and for reference, 4U rack mounted storage servers hold around 60 3.5" HDDs.

so you'd be looking at minimum 17 4U rack servers stuffed full of 10TB HDDs.

And as we have already worked out, he doesn't have 10TB HDDs, so it would easily be 20-30 4U rack servers.

tldr, he is full of shit.

>>52645098
you actually deleted it kek
>>
>>52645421
I don't know dude, he told me 10PB. It might be an estimation or whatever. It's only a single rack and similar size to the pic I showed.

>>52645422
It's not generic, it looks like it was customized for a certain high profile company. The thing is even painted bright red all over with the logos everywhere, smooth edges everywhere and it's very nice too look at. I saw one at his work with all lights on and it looked like something you'd see on an alien spaceship. It's kind of hard to explain in words.

>I don't know dude, he told me 10PB. It might be an estimation or whatever. It's only a single rack and similar size to the pic I showed.
well assuming its an industry standard 42U rack.

You could probably fit at the ABSOLUTE theoretical maximum (assuming 10TB hdds), around 6PB.

However, I highly doubt someone gave you helium filled 10TB HDDs for free, as they are super limited production at the moment and STUPID expensive.

So lets assume they are 4TB or 6TB drives.

That leaves you with 2.4 to 3.6PB of total storage.

Also, a 42U rack generally requires a 40A circuit, so hope you have one already in your electrical box.

I have no idea about electrical equipment. Can I get that for a normal sized house? How much money are we talking here?
I could probably invest a small 1k-2k$ if it's worth it, maybe rent the space online or something. I think I'm in over my head here.

Most houses might have a single 40A for the washer/dryer.

You'd likely need to hire an electrician to come in and rewire your basement, you'd be looking at at least a $1k to do that, maybe more depending on your house and what current electrical hookup you already have.

It will cost more if he needs to install an entirely new breaker box or something more extreme, this all depends on your house and shit though so I cant really help you here.

>I think I'm in over my head here.
That much I can agree with.

If you honestly think it's too much for you you can sell most of the equipment piecemeal probably.

You seem very knowledgeable about this.
If I were to sell the used HDDs in bulk, what would you recommend? Ebay?

pic related. but then no option for captcha shows up :[
>>
>>52645671
i don't use oneechan but you might need to enable legacy captcha in 4chanx settings
>>
>>52645671
Captcha should show automatically when you start typing, sometimes it bugs though, reopen the window. Also check umatrix/noscript isn't cucking you - but that should have already been happening were it to happen at all.

>>52645659
Ebay or tech forums if you are a member of one. If you live near a large city craigs list or similar.

HDDs are fairly simple to sell, as long as they weren't abused too heavily you can sell for a decent bit ~$30 for a 2TB, around $60-75 for a 4TB, maybe around $120-150 for a 6TB.

If they were used very heavily though and are prone to failure you might want to knock off even more.

Up to you though.
>>
>>52645671
Doesn't happen with mine.

Are you using stock oneechan or are you using the fork that specifically works alongside 4chanx?
>>
>>52645699
Will disable/enable legacy captcha/see.
>>52645700
No, umatrix/noscript installed. I just use Chromium for light things such as 4chan/seedbox stuff.

This one which I guess isn't the stock oneechan?
>>
>>52645762
Nope that's the one for 4chanx. So should be fine. I'd try relaunching the browser maybe.

I just run it in normal stock Chrome.

So after fooling around and trying to figure it out. this is what I'm managing with now. Maybe I'll give into the botnet again and install it with stock chrome.

Thanks for the advice though /senpai/ /ptg/

It's working now-but on Waterfox. Which is ironic because I like to browse 4chan on Chromium but whatever. This will work for me.

I'd recommend the 4chanx catalog view if you haven't tried it.

I prefer browsing 4chan in catalog mode these days.
>>
>>52646027
Sweet. I got it working in Chromium now so I'm good and I always browse via catalog though at first it was strange but not I only browse catalog. Will check it with 4chanx now but doesn't look too different

I installed a 4chanx fork (ccd0) and worked.
