It's used a lot in business environments, e.g., openstack/cloudstack, SDN, appliances. If you're in a meme 3.0 company then you probably have a mixture of puppet/ansible/salt running across heterogeneous hardware environments, herding hundreds of linux machines with a state defined in Git and deployed/destroyed automagically according to immutable infrastructure principles.

We need to shift the focus to phones and servers.

When people say "year of the Linux", they are talking about the distros and their philosophies of open source software and user freedom and control, stuff like that. Do you think that if Microsoft took Windows 10 as it is (forced updates, telemetry, limited customization, commercial and/or closed-source software as the norm) and only replaced NT with the Linux kernel, all the linuxfags would instantly think Windows 10 is now good?
Android, to the enormous majority of users, means extensive data collection by Google, limited customizability (very few people bother with changing launchers, let alone rooting, and even less unlocking the bootloader and flashing custom ROMs), and is a platform to distribute closed-source software that in the vast majority is commercial (either by payment of ads) and bring their own data collection concerns. What's the fucking point of using the Linux kernel then? The kernel is completely irrelevant, it could be any other kernel and nobody would give a shit.

It's (barely) usable, but practically nobody uses it. And that's just considering the ordinary computer user that just wants to use the internet and write documents.
For me it's unusable, since I use CAD and 3D rendering software and for those areas Linux is literally worthless. There are zero CAD solutions usable in a professional setting, and there's exactly one passable renderer, Kerkythea, which is still very far behind software like Maxwell and V-Ray. Also, not my main area of work, but I also use the Adobe suite a lot, and Linux alternatives are straight up awful.

So having extremely basic professional software or, in some cases, no professional software at all is not by any means "won that battle". FOSS alternatives still have a very, very long way to go.

I don't work a lot with 3D models, for what I have used, the tools work fine.
I have not used the adobe suite, so I don't know what we are "missing" although I often hear that we need a better photo editing software but we have tools so you can do these things at least in a personal setting.

Basing a company on proprietary software is unfortunate, but if your job is to edit 3d models, having free is not the priority.
